Chapter 411: Chapter 278: I Want Her to Die a Terrible Death Chapter 411: Chapter 278: I Want Her to Die a Terrible Death Nanny Xu’s arrival was for Huo Shuixian like someone bringing a pillow to someone dozing off.

She was truly worried about how to bring about Gu Changsheng’s death, and after days of eager anticipation, Nanny Xu finally returned at the most critical moment.

Huo Shuixian felt that everything was an act of fate!

Her chance to eliminate future troubles had arrived!

“Nanny…”

Seeing Nanny Xu standing in the courtyard, Huo Shuixian called out with a trace of grievance, and the injustice she had suffered after arriving at Liuzhou immediately overwhelmed her heart.

Nanny Xu was a woman in her forties, quite plump at first glance, but with thin lips as thin as paper, and a hint of gloom in her eyes that made her seem distant and unapproachable.

Of course, that was how others felt. For Huo Shuixian, she didn’t get along too well with her mother, Madam Huo, either. It was only Nanny Xu, the nanny who had raised her since she was a child, with whom she felt closest.

“Nanny, you finally came back…”

Huo Shuixian hurried to Nanny Xu’s side, eagerly grasping her sleeve, as though she had seen her own mother, with affection and dependence.

Nanny Xu glanced at Huo Shuixian before her, the gloominess in her eyes replaced by a touch of doting, her voice deep and slightly weary as she spoke, “How come you have become so rundown in just a little over a month?”

The shade of sorrow between Huo Shuixian’s brows could not escape the detection of Nanny Xu’s experienced eyes. She pointed it out bluntly.

“Throughout the journey here, I heard that you had attracted the Image of the Phoenix Rite. Is this true?” Without waiting for Huo Shuixian’s answer, Nanny Xu asked another question while leading her inside, with a hint of solemnity on her face.

Seeing this, people below quickly withdrew, clearing the space for the two to speak.

“Nanny, it’s true, but is there something wrong?” Huo Shuixian closed the door and turned to look at her nanny.

This was the person she had relied on most since she was a little girl!

Nanny Xu took a seat with a grim face, without the slightest sense of servility.

Huo Shuixian, accustomed to this, poured a cup of tea and handed it to Nanny Xu, then sat down beside her with a look of confusion.

After pondering for a moment, Nanny Xu began, “I don’t know if it’s appropriate or not. All I heard is that more than ten years ago, where the Dragon Vein is located, which is also the retreat of the Secret Sect Shang Clan, an Image of the Phoenix Rite appeared. And, that Image of the Phoenix Rite was concluded with the annihilation of the Shang Clan…”

“Really?” Upon hearing this, Huo Shuixian immediately stood up in fright.

Nanny would never scare her with mere rumors. If such an event truly happened, then she…

Would she also die because of the Image of the Phoenix Rite?

No! She didn’t want that!

Nanny Xu took a hold of Huo Shuixian’s sleeve and pressed her back down next to her, giving her a reproachful look. She spoke assertively, “What is there to be so alarmed about? The reason the Secret Sect Shang Clan attracted such a disaster was solely because they had always been a concern for the Imperial Family, and it was merely an excuse to take action against them!”

“And the Shang Clan brought about the Image of the Phoenix Rite with a male infant, whereas you are a woman!” Nanny Xu said as she glanced at Huo Shuixian, whom she had raised, nodding with satisfaction, then continued with a dissatisfied tone, “How many times have I told you, you must keep your composure in chaos, stay calm in the face of danger? That is the demeanor of a lady. How can you amount to anything if you jump at every scare?”

Faced with Nanny Xu’s reproach, Huo Shuixian shamefully hung her head and stammered, “Shuixian is at fault, but, Nanny, during the time you were gone, Shuixian really suffered!”

“Oh?” Nanny Xu said, looking at her with a puzzled expression.

Seeing this, Huo Shuixian quickly recounted everything that had happened after arriving at Liuzhou.

“Nanny, you must take revenge for Shuixian! Not only did she seduce Brother Mu, but now she’s also persuaded His Highness Prince Bao to make a scene at Prince Mu’s Mansion. As you know, Brother Mu has always respected His Highness Prince Bao. Shuixian is really worried Brother Mu will listen to His Highness and reignite his old affection for that vile Gu Changsheng!” Huo Shuixian said, imploringly tugging on Nanny Xu’s sleeve and shaking it, all the while striking the posture of a petulant little girl.

Seeing this, the anger in Nanny Xu’s eyes instantly dissipated a little, and she looked gloomily at Huo Shuixian, huffing discontentedly, “You spineless thing, you can’t even deal with a woman! What use are all the skills I’ve taught you?”

“Nanny…” Scolded by Nanny Xu, Huo Shuixian’s stunning face showed even greater distress as she explained falteringly, “Didn’t Nanny say that we must not resort to violence in front of others? Shuixian was just… just…”

“Hmph!” Nanny Xu responded with an unsatisfied snort.

“Nanny, don’t be angry with me; it’s Shuixian who is unworthy.” Seeing this, Huo Shuixian continued to shake and act spoiled, “Nanny, that despicable Gu Changsheng also has good Kung Fu skills, that’s why Shuixian has been thwarted by her time and again. You must avenge Shuixian!”

Nanny Xu, seething with rage, gradually calmed down under Huo Shuixian’s coquettish pleading.

She could scarcely believe that twenty years had passed since she fled from her enemies and took refuge in the Grand Tutor’s Mansion, becoming Huo Shuixian’s wet nurse and narrowly escaping death. The precious little child in her arms had stayed with her for two decades, melting her cold and merciless heart. She had truly come to love Huo Shuixian as her own daughter.

“A lowly abandoned wife dares to compete with my Shuixian for a man’s affection, sheer folly!” Nanny Xu’s face darkened at the thought of Gu Changsheng. She could not stand the thought of her cherished charge being slighted by outsiders. This simply could not stand!

“Nanny… With His Highness Prince Bao causing such a commotion in Lansheng Courtyard, what should we do now?” Huo Shuixian asked anxiously.

As soon as Nanny Xu appeared, she became Huo Shuixian’s pillar of strength. Even though she was worried, she felt an unprecedented sense of peace.

“Don’t focus on the trivial. Rather than wasting your thoughts on an outsider, you’d better spend more effort on the one you care about,” Nanny Xu said, taking a sip from her teacup as she spoke.

Hearing this, Huo Shuixian became anxious, her fairy-like face filled with frustration. “How could I not! I’m certainly aware that I need to put effort into Brother Mu, but every time I think of his past with that vile Gu Changsheng, I can’t help feeling extremely bitter. Nanny, that despicable woman nearly ruined my reputation and hurt me. If Ru Yu hadn’t taken an arrow for me, you would have almost lost Shuixian… the Bone-Piercing Arrow! The once-renowned Bone-Piercing Arrow of the Itinerant World! Nanny, you really could have lost me…”

As she spoke, Huo Shuixian’s appearance turned pitiable, on the verge of tears.

As expected, her words instantly darkened Nanny Xu’s expression.

“The Bone-Piercing Arrow? No wonder you have been hindered at every turn by that vile woman. So, she actually managed to get her hands on the long-lost Bone-Piercing Arrow of the Itinerant World!” Nanny Xu’s lips curved into a mocking smile as she continued, “Since that’s the case, what do you want to do?”

At those words, a spark flashed in Huo Shuixian’s eyes, and she spoke with a chilling voice, “I want to eliminate future troubles once and for all; I want her to die miserably! I hope you can lend Shuixian a helping hand to remove this threat and free me from any worries!”

“Aren’t you afraid that your beloved will suspect you?” Nanny Xu asked with apparent indifference.

Huo Shuixian sneered at the question, “What if he suspects me? If Gu Changsheng dies, even if Brother Mu suspects, what can he do to me?”

“Nanny, please help Shuixian. Every time I think of that vile woman, I can’t eat or sleep. The uproar caused by His Highness Prince Bao has made me even more panicked. If you don’t help Shuixian, I really don’t know what to do…”

Watching the young woman by her side continue her coquettish pleas, Nanny Xu helplessly shook her head. Her grey fingers brushed Huo Shuixian’s delicate face, and she spoke with doting affection, “Well then, you should just focus on your relationship with the man you care about and leave this threat to Nanny. I assure you, she won’t live to see tomorrow’s sun!”

At these words, a hint of bloodthirsty coldness flitted across Nanny Xu’s eyes.

Hearing this, Huo Shuixian’s heart was flooded with relief and joy!

With Nanny Xu making a move, no matter how capable Gu Changsheng was, she couldn’t escape death!

Thinking that she would no longer have to deal with that contemptible Gu Changsheng, Huo Shuixian felt as if the air around her had become much fresher. She nestled closer to Nanny Xu, continuing her coquettish complaints.

Ru Yu, standing guard outside the door, heard the muffled voices within and a schadenfreude smile played at the corners of her lips.

Nanny Xu was an unfathomable person; even though they had been serving their young mistress as martial maids since childhood, they could hardly grasp the depths of the old lady’s knowledge. They had benefited greatly from her advice. Now with her taking charge, how could Gu Changsheng, that vile woman, not meet her demise?

Touching the arrow wound on her shoulder, Ru Yu smiled triumphantly, feeling confident. She was timid and lacked the courage to exact revenge, but there were always others willing to settle the score on her behalf!

Thinking of her imminent revenge, Ru Yu smiled with a sense of enormous relief.

…

In Prince Mu’s Mansion, Lansheng Courtyard.

Zhou Zongbao was causing another uproar. Seeing Zhou Mu remain as unmoved as ever, his anger flared even more, shaking a finger at him and berating loudly.

“Little Wood, speak up! What kind of love potion has the Huo girl given you to even change your temperament? What do you want with such a vase? To use her as a decoration in the mansion? Even if she serves as a decoration, don’t you find it irritating?”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. For the past decade, everyone in the Capital City thought you were disfigured in that fire at the Eastern Palace. Meanwhile, Huo Shuixian hasn’t been idle, getting cozy with your cousins. If you don’t want to be cuckolded for no reason, you’d best keep your distance from her!”

Zhou Mu heard the words, his long eyelashes trembling slightly, yet he remained unresponsive.

Seeing this, Zhou Zongbao’s face reddened with anger.

He had been making a scene for so long that he was almost out of saliva, yet the man responsible remained impassively seated. How could he not be furious?

But no matter how angry Zhou Zongbao was, he refused to believe that Little Wood, whom he had raised, could be so fickle and heartless.

“Little Wood, tell me, did you get involved with the Huo girl because of the auspicious omen that descended from the heavens?”
