Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress

On the day of the main party, the excitement in the Skepa castle had reached the peak. The main party was going to start in the evening but all the nobles were already getting ready to attend this.

None of the nobles had used their best dresses and accessories for the previous parties that that were attending here. All of them were obviously saving the best ones for the main party.

It was not just the Skepa family who were planning to show off during this party. Most of the other nobles were also planning to do the same.

Other than strength and money, the prestige was also something that was very highly valued in the noble society of this nation.

So all the nobles who were financially stable, they all were looking to gain more prestige and respect. And dressing up with expensive things in a fashionable way was an easy method of showing off.

Other than that, there was another thing that the nobles were focusing very hard on. And that was gift giving. As the Skepa family were the hosts, all the invited noble families needed to prepare a gift for them as per custom.

And the content of these gifts would be declared to all the other nobles. So giving something cheap was out of the question. Not only that would make them to lose face for the whole family before all the nobles, that could also put someone in the blacklist of the Skepa family which no one wanted.

So by giving valuable, luxurious and expensive gifts, the rich nobles were able to show off through this method. It was actually a very popular event in any noble parties.

...

While the whole Skepa castle was getting ready, Weiss was simple sitting leisurely in her room while reading a book. As for the four maids and Elise, they were busy choosing the perfect clothing combination for Weiss to wear in the first night of the party.

The first night was the most important one to show off for the nobles. The rest of the two nights were mostly for having important discussions and negotiations. So Weiss showing off her extreme beauty and sexiness tonight was very very important.

As for clothing that the maids and Elise would be wearing, they were already ready. For the maids, they would be wearing the same high quality maid clothing that they had used in the ladies’ tea party. As simple maids, they were not allowed to wear anything else.

As for Elise, the dress that she was going to wear had already been chosen by Peria when they were in the Souran territory. So now only Weiss’s dress needed to be chosen and she had left that decision completely to her subordinates’ capable hands.

As for why her dress was also not chosen beforehand like Elise’s, it was simple. A suitable combination would change depending on the circumstances.

If Weiss’s relationship with the Skepa family was not very good, she would need to wear something different than her current self. So her dress could only be chosen just before the start of the party while keeping the current situation in mind.

...

In the evening, the party was just about to begin. After working extremely hard, all the servants had managed to complete all the preparations before time and they were ready to welcome the guests.

The venue for this party was the largest ball room of the Skepa castle which had been specially renovated and it’s current luxury could even match the royal ball rooms.

The entry order for this party was according to a person’s rank. Lower ranking individuals would go in first and the higher ranking ones last. The last person to enter would always be the Marquis and his family.

After this, the door to the ball room would be closed and no one would be granted entry. The only exception to this rule was the royal family. But that was not really a problem in this case as no royals had been invited for this particular ball.

Then as the head butler and head maid maid opened the door of the ball room, the other servants went to invite the nobles from their rooms. It was their duty to make sure that all the nobles were entering the ball room in the correct order.

The first ones to enter were a few rich merchants. Even though this party was mostly for the nobles, as rich merchants held quite a bit of economical power, some of the very lucky and influential ones were allowed to join the party as the lowest ranking participants.

Next it was time for the baronets to enter. Baronets were mostly noble families who had no official knights and had fallen from grace. Some of them still had some influence but they were obviously considered to be the bottom ranks among the nobility.

There were not many baronets who were invited. So it did not take much time for them to go in. As soon as they were done, it was time for the barons and baronesses to enter.

Most of the nobility in the Brightshine kingdom belonged to this rank. As long as someone was an official knight and had managed to get in the good graces of a royal family member through various means, they would immediately be granted the noble rank of a baron.

So there were actually many barons who did not have any land under their name. In the noble society, they were known as false barons. And only a baron with a domain were considered to be the real ones.

So obviously, it was the false barons who would be entering before the true barons. And there were a lot of them.

All the nobles above the rank of baronets were granted the previlege of their name being announced loudly for everyone to hear as they were entering. And even the false barons were not excluded from then special treatment.

So the entry processing became quite lengthy for this group. And after they were done, it was time for the true barons to make their entry.

And it turned out that, there was one baroness who was already attracting a lot of attention. And she was also the first one to enter the room from the group of true barons. And this attractive lady in question was obviously none other than Baroness Weiss Souran.
