Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1695: Chapter 1035: Rediscovering the Spear Dao (Part 2)

The Wood Divine Thunder is fine; Yang Zhenshan has cultivated the Qinghua Thunder Skill, allowing him to freely use the Qinghua Thunder Pearl to unleash the Wood Divine Thunder.

However, the True Sun Fire is not the same; his True Sun Fire comes from the Golden Crow Eight Trigrams Furnace, and he himself does not possess the True Sun Fire. He can only unleash it by using the fire seed of the Golden Crow Eight Trigrams Furnace.

This also means that when using the True Sun Fire, he needs the cooperation of the Golden Crow.

In terms of energy operation, this adds an extra step, requiring perfect coordination between him and the Golden Crow.

Of course, there are benefits too. With the Thunder Fire Spear, Yang Zhenshan can fight using the True Sun Fire without the Golden Crow having to charge recklessly.

The Golden Crow doesn’t know spells and couldn’t learn those conventional spells. Its only form of combat is using Yang Zhenshan’s mana to stimulate the True Sun Fire and then directly charge at the enemy without any skill or technique.

Now that Yang Zhenshan has the Thunder Fire Spear, it gives him more control over the True Sun Fire, allowing him to fight using it in his own style.

Simply put, the Thunder Fire Spear is Yang Zhenshan’s tool to harness the True Sun Fire, enabling him to use various fire spells and techniques.

Combined with the Wood Divine Thunder, Yang Zhenshan’s combat power has greatly increased.

”Not just the Wood Divine Thunder and True Sun Fire, but also my unique Spear Intent!”

Yang Zhenshan stroked the long spear, his eyes gleaming with excited brilliance.

The long spear had always been his greatest love.

In the past, he used a single spear to charge through thousands of troops.

But later, as he turned to the Immortal Path, the Spear Arts and Spear Intent became somewhat redundant, and he could no longer find the thrill of close combat.

Now, picking up the long spear again, rekindles the vitality within his immersed heart.

”The heavens are mine alone, and the Dao is mine alone!”

Murming words emerged from Yang Zhenshan’s mouth, and instantly the spear thrust forward, with no bursting thunderfire, but only a spear glow carrying a sharp sound of breaking through the sky, piercing through the gloomy heavens.

Feeling the exciting realm, Yang Zhenshan danced the long spear continuously in the air.

This time, he displayed a simple spear skill, without the flamboyant flourishes, nor terrifying explosiveness from before, but rather an invisible realm swirling around him.

In the face of various Divine Skills and Dao Intent, does the Spear Dao count for nothing?

Clearly not.

Isn’t the Spear Dao also a kind of Divine Dao Intent?

Like how Sword Dao and Sword Intent can earn the name of Sword Immortal, why can’t Spear Dao and Spear Intent forge the title of Spear Immortal?

Why can Sword Dao and Sword Intent thrive in the world?

Why then can Spear Dao and Spear Intent only remain limited amongst Martial Artists?

The question is complex but not beyond understanding.

There are many reasons, but mainly three: First, Immortal Cultivators focus more on spells and divine skills, predominantly using magical treasures and spiritual artifacts in combat, seldom employing close combat methods, leading weapons like swords, spears, and halberds not being the primary choice of battle artifacts.

The reason why sword artifacts became mainstream magical treasures and spiritual artifacts is largely because of the prevalence of Swordcraft, namely the flying swords, which in essence have departed from the form of close combat weapons.

The second reason is lesser inheritances; everyone is cultivating spells and divine skills, fighting in traditional ways, hence their research direction continues being focused on spells, divine skills, and magical treasures, seldom does anyone wish to invest effort in researching new things.

This is not conservatism, but habit.

There’s an apt saying: In this world there never was a road, but as many people tread, so a road emerges.

The Immortal Path has many roads, each paved by countless predecessors with time and effort.

When later generations embark on the Immortal Path, the first roads they choose are the ones left by predecessors, following these paths they go, during which perhaps new ideas emerge, yet they do not retreat to trod anew, instead a new branch path springs forth.

Though they innovate, still their foundations lie on the paths left by predecessors.

Take the cultivation realms of Immortal Cultivators: Qi Refinement, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core.

Must these cultivation realms of Immortal Cultivators be thusly divided?

Obviously not.

Martial Artist is a clear example; the path of cultivation is not just limited to Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment.

Only due to this path having been trodden by countless people, myriad heritages passed down, rendering Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment method a mainstream cultivation path.

Similarly, spells, divine skills, magical treasures become mainstream battle methods in Immortal Cultivation, while paths like Spear Dao, Sword Dao are neglected.

Adding to the third reason, the disparity in strength between Immortal Cultivators and Martial Artists leads many Immortal Cultivators to deem many things about Martial Artists as relatively low-level, weapons like swords, spears are regarded as things only used by Martial Artists, no need for Immortal Cultivators to study these.

Due to these reasons, Spear Dao and Spear Intent cannot receive recognition from Immortal Cultivators.

Yang Zhenshan has a fondness for Spear Intent and a unique affection for Spear Dao, hence he is willing to pick up the long spear and re-cultivate Spear Dao.

Now he is already a Golden Core Cultivator, understanding Dao Intent differently, hence expressing his unique Spear Intent led to many distinct insights.

Gradually, his spear was no longer so ostentatious nor so dominating, but rather calmed down and became gentler, as if transforming from a snarling beast into a docile kitten.

But if you truly consider it a harmless little cutie, you’re gravely mistaken.

A spear is a weapon that kills; no matter how tame, it cannot conceal its nature as a lethal tool.

Sinking the waist and twisting the step, the spear tip suddenly surged with half a foot of green glow. The spear shaft, akin to a spirit snake darting, coils the green glow upon the spear tip, forming chilling luster, vaguely exuding the aura of the Void.

Such seemingly calm spear technique effortlessly shattered the spatial barriers of the Life Realm Immortal Palace.

Perhaps the spatial barriers of the Life Realm Immortal Palace were not as solid as the world barriers of the main world, but they were not easily breakable.

Yang Zhenshan’s eyes glistened with brilliance, yet his face remained unchanged.

But at the next moment, he took out a Nine-striped Bodhi Seed and consumed it.

This was the last Nine-striped Bodhi Seed in his possession, but he used it without hesitation to comprehend Spear Intent.

Not because he had overly fond feelings for Spear Intent, but because he sensed that Spear Intent too contained powerful Dao Intent, and he was just a step away from grasping the entry to the Dao Intent of Spear.

Once past this threshold, he could master a new Dao Intent.

The Withered and Flourishing Divine Power, Body Transformation, Yang Zhenshan had already grasped two kinds of Divine Dao Intent, and now he was about to acquire the third one.

For Golden Core Cultivators, Divine Dao Intent is about the essence rather than quantity.

Comprehending multiple Divine Dao Intents is not as preferable as advancing to a higher level in one Dao Intent.

Perhaps many Divine Dao Intents can bring considerable combat power, but they cannot elevate cultivation realms.

Yang Zhenshan stood holding the spear, his ten-foot stature like a forged hill, the Mystical Iron spear shaft gathered ninety percent of its mana, exuding a cold, hard black light, its spear tip sharpened but not released, making the surrounding air condense materially.

His left arm steadied the spear in front of his torso, the right hand clasped the spear tail tightly like an iron hoop, with every motion of the joints producing the sound of metal clashes, the spear tip’s chill light shrank finer, ultimately condensing into a needle-tip sized silver shine.

”Break!”

A soft shout came out, and the spear tip had already thrust forward. Without dazzling brilliance, only a spear shadow at ultimate speed pierced through space, triggering a sharp explosion, as if crushed by invisible mighty force, first revealing dense white marks, then layer upon layer shattering, exposing the murky void behind.

The moment the spear shadow broke the fissures, the wind within a hundred-foot range got vacuum-sucked, leaving only the vacuum trail caused by the spear momentum.

The void rippled, swallowing all surrounding light, sound, and Spiritual Energy. When the spear momentum ended, the fissures in space barrier receded like waves, leaving only a bottomless hole, its edges retaining spiral force, touching it resulted in being shredded, vaguely the wailing from the depths of void could be heard.

Upon execution of this spear, Yang Zhenshan’s stature diminished more than half, and after inhaling deeply, the scattered momentum around his body smoothed out, the spear tip’s chill light though weak, carried more condense sharpness.
