Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1177: Chapter 786: Would He Be Willing to Help Us?

The chaos in Nanxia County continued throughout the night and only stopped at dawn.

After the chaos ended, the Martial Cultivators’ workshop in Nanxia County had completely turned into ruins, and all the valuables were carted away by the bandits.

Meanwhile, over a thousand soldiers of the Red Flame Army stayed behind in the mountains and forests five miles north of the county town, with only a few hundred wounded troops retreating back to Nanqing Mountain.

Lu Jianghua also escaped to Nanqing Mountain.

On Nanqing Mountain, Lu Jianghua looked with a grim expression at the heavily wounded Red Flame Army.

”Young Master, we’ve just received the news, Tianbao County and Suihua County have both been attacked. Fifth and Sixth Young Masters are likely in grave danger!” Lan Xuanyu reported solemnly to Lu Jianghua.

Three of the four counties in Ancient County that bordered the Sea of Spirit are north of the county capital, namely Tianbao County, Suihua County, and Nanxia County.

This time, the enemy surprisingly attacked the workshops in all three counties at once, causing such losses to the Lu family that it was beyond devastating.

Most importantly, someone was challenging the Lu family’s status.

At this moment, Lu Jianghua was not concerned about the safety of the fifth and sixth sons. He was more focused on the situation the Lu family was facing.

”Who is the enemy?” Lu Jianghua’s eyes were bloodshot, the fury twisting his handsome features into a snarl.

”We are not sure yet. There were about a hundred attackers on the county town workshops, and around two hundred ambushing the Red Flame Army, all Innate Martial Artists, including several at the Heavenly Gang Stage!” Lan Xuanyu replied.

Lu Jianghua’s eyes were filled with malice.

”Several at the Heavenly Gang Stage? How many exactly?”

”No fewer than eight!”

The corner of Lu Jianghua’s mouth lifted slightly, and he said coldly, ”Eight Heavenly Gang Stage Martial Artists—how many forces can marshal that many Heavenly Gang Stage Martial Artists?”

Heavenly Gang Stage Martial Artists are not few, but not just any force can mobilize eight of them at once.

Even the Lu family would have to think carefully before calling upon eight Heavenly Gang Stage Martial Artists at once.

”They might have formed an alliance,” Lan Xuanyu said, looking displeased.

Lu Jianghua glanced at the Red Flame Army soldiers who were healing their wounds, then turned and went inside the main hall.

”It can’t be someone from our side, perhaps it’s the Dayun Dynasty!” Lan Xuanyu said in a low voice, following behind him.

The Dayun Dynasty inherited most of Dazhao’s territories and assets. In terms of power and foundation, Dayun’s royal Mo family is not much weaker than the Lu family. The difference is that the Lu family has Lu Fusheng, a newly risen Martial God, while the Mo family doesn’t have a Martial God.

Years ago, the fall of the Dazhao Dynasty was orchestrated by the Lu and Mo families. The agreement was for the Lu family to take Ancient County and the Mo family to establish the dynasty in the Capital City.

Back then, the two families were allies, but now~~

”No message from home yet?” Lu Jianghua asked tiredly, sitting in a grand chair.

”Not yet. The house is probably in chaos at this time, and it might be a while before they figure things out,” Lan Xuanyu replied.

Lu Jianghua sighed deeply. After his anger, he felt a profound sense of powerlessness.

Since the war between the Three Sects of the Sea of Spirit and the Nether Prison Sect began, the Lu family’s thriving momentum was interrupted, and under the coercion of the Illusion Moon Sect, the Lu family had to make many forced decisions.

The Lu family was a family supported by the Illusion Moon Sect, and since the Illusion Moon Sect went to war with the Nether Prison Sect, the Lu family naturally had to act as the vanguard.

Even though Lu Fusheng had become a Martial God, he didn’t have much autonomy in the current situation.

”What should we do?” Lu Jianghua asked.

After hesitating for a moment, Lan Xuanyu finally said, ”Young Master, Nanqing Mountain isn’t safe now. Shouldn’t we leave here first?”

They definitely can’t return to Nanxia County because, although the enemy has withdrawn from Nanxia County, there is no guarantee they won’t come back!

Before there is any response from the county capital, they absolutely cannot return to Nanxia County or even stay at Nanqing Mountain.

”Where can we go?” Lu Jianghua asked.

”Go to Lingxi Mountain! Yang Zhenshan came back yesterday!” Lan Xuanyu suggested.

He knew Yang Zhenshan returned yesterday and had originally planned to visit him today.

”Yang Zhenshan!” Lu Jianghua mused, ”Can he hold them off?”

”He can’t, but with him, we can at least hold out for a while!” Lan Xuanyu said with frustration.

They now had less than eight hundred Red Flame Army soldiers left, many of whom were wounded.

And they didn’t have a single Heavenly Gang Stage Martial Artist to hold the fort; their only hope now was Yang Zhenshan.

”Will he be willing to help us?” Lu Jianghua asked a critical question.

Lan Xuanyu uncertainly replied, ”He probably would!”

He believed that if he went to Lingxi Mountain, Yang Zhenshan would surely protect him, but with Lu Jianghua, it was uncertain.

However, he had no choice but to bring Lu Jianghua along. The Lan family was a vassal to the Lu family, and he could not abandon the fourth son of the Lu family’s direct line at this time, else he would not be able to answer to the Lu family.

”Send someone to ask. If Senior Yang is willing, we’ll go over. If not, we’ll retreat east!”

Lu Jianghua was clever and knew that forcing Yang Zhenshan would only alienate him and the Lu family, bringing no benefit at all.

At this critical time, the Lu family needed every ally they could get.
