Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 347: Chapter 336: The Adult in My Family Has a Bad Temper!

In just a short moment, a large warehouse, along with the cellar full of gold and silver, was completely looted by Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan swaggered out of the warehouse and then leapt onto the treetop of a large tree nearby.

The curved crescent moon hung in the night sky, casting a faint and intermittent shadow of Yang Zhenshan.

He glanced over the entire Liu family estate.

In fact, there were many valuable things in this estate. For a wealthy merchant, gold and silver were not the most important assets, real estate, land, and goods were.

Besides that, there were various antiques, calligraphy and paintings, silk fabrics, jade and precious jewelry, and other valuable items.

For example, the most valuable place in the Yang family was not the treasury, but the warehouse where Yang Zhenshan himself stored things.

Even though Yang Zhenshan had placed most of the valuable items in the Spiritual Spring Space, his warehouse was still the most valuable place in the Yang family. Taking out any item from there could be worth dozens or hundreds of taels of silver.

A wealthy merchant like the Liu family would certainly have many such warehouses.

Then, Yang Zhenshan once again merged into the night, searching through the rooms one by one.

Anything that looked valuable was successively collected into the Spiritual Spring Space.

When the thatched hut in the space could no longer accommodate the items, he simply threw them in the orchard.

As time ticked by, it wasn’t until a sharp scream echoed in the main courtyard of the Liu family that Yang Zhenshan stopped his actions.

The scream came from the bed of Liu Fuzhang. Yang Zhenshan was still merciful to those delicate beauties, handling them relatively gently.

Soon, a commotion arose from the direction of the main courtyard. Yang Zhenshan stepped out of a storage room, his figure flashed, and he vanished without a trace.

”Damn it! Who is it!”

Moments later, Liu Fuzhang’s roar echoed in the main courtyard.

But his roar trembled slightly.

Wuu, it hurts so much!

For over an hour, he watched helplessly as each drop of wax fell onto his body, shivering with pain each time a drop landed.

Too hateful, too evil, too brutal!

If it weren’t for the candle burning out at the end, the thread burning through and falling, landing next to the delicate beauty and waking her with the pain, he wouldn’t have known how long his torment would last.

”You useless trash!”

Right now, Liu Fuzhang looked nothing like the scholarly gentleman he usually was, wearing only a robe, barefooted, he unleashed a torrent of kicks at the guards who came to his rescue.

”You didn’t notice even when people approached my bed!”

”Is it that you wouldn’t even see if someone was to slaughter me!”

”Trash, trash!”

Liu Fuzhang roared.

A group of people trembled in the courtyard, not even daring to breathe heavily.

Scholars, farmers, artisans, and merchants, the warriors and scholars were considered equal.

But when the wealth reached a certain level, merchants could develop many connections with officials, their status and position exceeding those of warriors and scholars.

The guards of the Liu family were all martial artists, but in front of Liu Fuzhang, they didn’t dare to take a breath.

”Ma-master~~”

At this time, the Liu family’s housekeeper spoke with a trembling voice.

”What is it?” Liu Fuzhang glared at him fiercely.

With a sorrowful face, the housekeeper said, ”Master, the silver vault has been robbed!”

”What!” Liu Fuzhang stiffened, feeling a chill beneath him.

Then, he didn’t even bother to chastise the useless ones in front of him, and rushed towards the silver vault.

But when he saw the empty warehouse, his vision darkened, and he fainted.

The Liu family was wealthy, and honestly, even Liu Fuzhang himself did not have an exact figure for how much silver was stored in the vault.

But it was definitely no less than five hundred thousand taels!

Actually, Yang Zhenshan didn’t know precisely how much he had taken either, he just kept placing things into the Spiritual Spring Space without counting.

But he knew that the gains from this time were even greater than the haul from the Prefectural Government’s underground space in An Yuan City.

Yang Zhenshan felt with the Spiritual Spring Space, he was the world’s number one god of thieves.

What other thieves could steal several hundred catties of silver melons?

Impossible!

Even martial artists at the Postnatal Ninth Layer couldn’t possibly carry several hundred catties of silver melons around the city with ease.

But he could!

However, theft after all could not be flaunted, once in a while was okay, but if it happened too frequently, it would inevitably cause big trouble.

One Liu family, he didn’t care about.

But if there were ten or eight Liu families, he would have to be cautious.

After all, these wealthy merchants all had support behind them.

Regardless, at this moment Yang Zhenshan was in high spirits!

”Let’s go, let’s head back!”

After leaving the city, Yang Zhenshan located Luo Chen and two personal followers, and said with a grin.

”What did the lord do?” Luo Chen asked curiously.

Yang Zhenshan gave him a look, ”Don’t talk nonsense, I’ve done nothing, hmm, tonight we’ve been at the manor in Crescent Bay all along, we never left!”

”Err!” Luo Chen touched his nose in disappointment.

What did he mean by that, are we supposed to be sleepwalking here?

Yang Zhenshan ignored him, mounted his horse, and rode into the dim night.

...

The next day.

Luo Shang arrived at the Governor’s Office in Jiangnan.

However, it was not easy for Luo Shang to meet Gao Huai. Luo Shang was just a merchant, and Gao Huai was a governor of a province; how could he meet him whenever he wished?

After arriving at the back gate of the Governor’s Office, which is also the gate to the Gao Residence, Luo Shang found the gatekeeper.

”Excuse me, brothers, could you please deliver this letter to Lord Gao! Ah, this letter is a personal letter from my Family Head!” Luo Shang was somewhat nervous as he handed over the letter to the gatekeeper, and also conveniently passed over two ingots of silver.

Hearing this, the gatekeeper looked at the letter, then at Luo Shang, ”Wait a moment!”

It was unclear whether the gatekeeper was swayed by the silver or because of the ”Family Head” Luo Shang had mentioned, but after all, it was just delivering a letter.

The gatekeeper left those words, and Luo Shang stood waiting outside the gate; after about half an hour, the gatekeeper hurriedly ran out, followed by seven or eight other figures.

”That’s him!” the gatekeeper pointed at Luo Shang and shouted.

Luo Shang’s heart skipped a beat, but his face remained undisturbed, calmly watching everything unfold.

”Was it you who sent this letter just now?” one person stepped forward and asked.

”Indeed, it was I!” Luo Shang replied calmly.

”Lord has invited you, please follow us.”

Luo Shang nodded slightly and walked into the Gao Residence gate without any fear.

Surrounded by the group, it felt more like he was being detained. Soon, Luo Shang was brought to the main hall of the Gao Residence.

Upon entering the hall, Luo Shang instantly spotted Gao Huai seated in the main seat.

Gao Huai, about in his fifties, had a lean face with a goatee beard and slightly sunken eyes. Though his complexion looked healthy, it gave off a somewhat sinister vibe.

”Is this what you brought?”

Gao Huai’s voice was somewhat hoarse.

”Lowly merchant Luo Shang greets Lord, the letter was indeed delivered by this humble one!” Luo Shang bowed, speaking neither subserviently nor arrogantly.

He was someone who had seen the world and would not be so scared of meeting a governor that he would lose his ability to speak.

”Good, now you can tell this old man, who is your master?” Gao Huai asked without any hint of emotion.

Luo Shang bowed his head in deference, gestured towards the North with his hand, and said: ”This humble one has been favored by General Yang of the Tenglong Guard and assists the General in handling some business matters!”

”Tenglong Guard!” Gao Huai’s eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced at the letter in his hand.

It was called a letter, but it was actually just a piece of paper with a single line written on it.

”Yang Zhenshan!” Gao Huai murmured softly.

Luo Shang’s expression stalled momentarily, remaining silent.

He hadn’t expected that Gao Huai would actually know Yang Zhenshan; he had been planning to introduce him, but it seemed unnecessary now.

”The butcher from Chongshan Town, the killer god! How truly domineering!” Gao Huai said with a mocking tone.

”My Family Head has a bit of a temper!” Luo Shang lowered his head, sneaking a peek at Gao Huai’s expression.

Gao Huai fell silent. After a while, he spoke again: ”Why so?”

Hearing this, Luo Shang’s mind raced, and he quickly said, ”The Family Head of the Liu family, Liu Fuzhang, has breached a contract—”

He briefly recounted the matter involving Liu Fuzhang.

”If it’s a matter with the Liu family, why not look for the Liu family instead of coming to me?”

”My Family Head says, if a dog bites me, I can’t bite back at the dog, I have to strike at the dog’s owner!” Luo Shang said earnestly.

There was another silence from Gao Huai, who after a moment asked again, ”Isn’t he afraid that I might impeach him?”

”The letter was written by this humble one, it has nothing to do with my Family Head!” Luo Shang said softly, still bowing his head.

”Hehe~~” Gao Huai laughed.

”What a Yang Zhenshan, to even employ such tactics with this official!”

He was actually familiar with the name Yang Zhenshan because he and Lu Chongde came from the same hometown. Although their camaraderie was not very close, the two would occasionally correspond through letters.

And when Chongshan Town was subjugating the East Sea Hu Clan, he had paid special attention to the situation in Chongshan Town and naturally had heard of Yang Zhenshan’s notorious reputation.

The killer god, the butcher!

That was his impression of Yang Zhenshan.

A killer god who had slaughtered more than a hundred thousand from the Hu Clan!

Truth be told, he didn’t particularly respect such butchers in his heart.

However, that didn’t stop him from being wary of Yang Zhenshan.

To many civil servants, military generals are seen as rude and intolerant, and Yang Zhenshan’s letter also came off as very rude and unreasonable.

Gao Huai took another look at the letter in his hand and calmly tore it up, ”This old man understands, I will explain the matter to the Liu family!”

Luo Shang was surprised and looked up.

He agreed?

Gao Huai ignored his astonishment, sipping tea lightly. A servant came promptly to see off the guest, ”Please!”

”This lowly merchant takes his leave!” Luo Shang came back to his senses and promptly bowed to exit the main hall.

Once he left, an aide standing beside Gao Huai said: ”Is the master not angry?”

”How could I not be angry?” Gao Huai stood up, hands behind his back, staring at the dark sky.

”So the master just let him go like that?” The aide was somewhat puzzled.

He knew Gao Huai’s temper; Gao Huai definitely was not one to swallow insults.

Gao Huai sighed deeply, ”If it was someone else, this old man certainly would not have let him off so easily and would have surely caused him some trouble.”

”But Yang Zhenshan is different!”

”Different?” The aide became even more confused; he hadn’t heard of Yang Zhenshan, ”Does this General Yang have some kind of background?”

”Background, not quite, but as far as this old man knows, he is quite close to Liu Yuanfu!” Gao Huai said.

Gao Huai did not understand Yang Zhenshan; therefore, he was wary of Yang Zhenshan’s rudeness, fearing Yang Zhenshan might actually come over and poke a couple of holes in him, and then he really would be finished.

As the saying goes, the stubborn fear the audacious, and the audacious fear those who are reckless; Gao Huai was neither stubborn nor audacious, but he felt Yang Zhenshan might be both audacious and reckless.

Thus, there was some fear in his heart for Yang Zhenshan’s reputation as a killer god.

However, he definitely could not tell his subordinates that he was afraid of Yang Zhenshan, so he used Liu Yuanfu as a shield.

Upon mentioning Liu Yuanfu, the aide did not pursue the conversation further.
