Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1984: The Worldʼs Situation III: The Domeʼs Fall

”I just sensed a bit of killing intent from you,” Li Ming said. ”Do you want to kill Liang Shixian?”

”I do.”

”Why? Just because he was acting suspicious? He didnʼt actually go with it,” Wang Chong asked.

”I have this nagging suspicion that heʼll do something stupid because of the Soul Path. Plus, after he tried to get my share, he was already on my bad side. Now that Iʼve brought back the official Soul Path from the expedition, itʼs time to eliminate him and control all the destiny of the Soul Path.”

”The New Age is coming, so itʼs not a bad thing to eliminate the surplus,” Yan Hai said. ”The war has already done that, and the expedition was even more ruthless. Now, itʼs the perfect opportunity to leave only the factions that will be able to compete in the new age.”

”Heʼs residing in the court. It wouldnʼt take much to send him on a mission,” Qiyuan added. ”The only issue is Maitreya.”

”She wonʼt be an issue.” Given their relationship, Wang Wei didnʼt think Maitreya would stop him. More importantly, Wu Hong now had the means to confront Maitreya, which meant she no longer held the majority of power or could stay in the Heavenly Court.

”Tell me when you need it, and Iʼll have it done.”

Wang Wei nodded. ”So, what happened next?”

”The Divine Courtʼs attack didnʼt stop there. Not long after, while we were still recuperating, their next attacks came,” Qiyuan began.

”But we were lucky this time — thanks to your friends.”

”Mine?” Wang Wei asked.

”Their next target was the Primordial Lineage,” Qiyuan explained. ”I donʼt know how they did it, but they convinced the Sea Race, the Barbarian Race, and the Dynasty Assembly to join them. Luckily, Mongke suddenly appeared with Primal Tier strength. He suppressed the Teregene Khan and took control; he then led an attack on the Sea Race and conquered them.”

”So, the Sea Race is now under the control of the Barbarian Race?”

”Yes. Mongke married the Sea Sovereignʼs daughter, forming an ʼalliance,ʼ but itʼs obvious which side is dominant. Over the years, the Barbarian Race has used resources from the Sea Race to expand their strength at an alarming rate.”

Wang Wei couldnʼt help but click his tongue. ”I knew Mongke was capable and ambitious, but I thought he would only show his fang after the new age. What about the Dynasty Assembly?”

”Your subordinate, Jia Ping, warned us,” Qiyuan continued. ”Working with him, the sect suppressed the assembly, and I was prepared to carve out their power. Unfortunately, we underestimated Ying Zheng. Qin also had its tentacles inside, and when we were dividing its power, they also took a large chunk.”

”Why am I not surprised?” No matter how Wang Wei felt about Ying Zheng, he would never say he was incompetent. ”Whatʼs their current situation right now? Especially Cao Sicong.”

”We put Jia Ping in charge since he became a Primal. Great Qin nominated someone else to control the other half. As for Cao Sicong? Heʼs dead.”

”Dead, dead, or in Limbo?”

”True death.”

”How?”

”Itʼs my fault,” Wang Chong said. ”I was supposed to protect him, but I didnʼt expect the Qin Court to attack him at all costs.”

Wang Wei immediately frowned. ”What happened to my Human Emperor Title?”

”Iʼve retrieved it, but the Qin people took Cao Sicongʼs Heaven Emperor Title.”

Wang Weiʼs first reaction was that this was bad news, but after thinking it through, he realized it wasnʼt that big a deal. Ying Zheng didnʼt survive the expedition intact, and by the time he healed, created his Saint Method, and executed it, Wang Wei was confident both he and his wife would have been sanctified by then.

So, unless Ying Zheng skipped all the Saint Traits, Saint Wills, and the Quasi-Saint Realm and went straight to sanctification, he had no choice. And if he did those things, his chances of condensing a 12-pillar foundation would be drastically weakened, which means he wouldnʼt even be an issue if he succeeded.

”Although Ying Zhengʼs threat has been reduced because of my rapid progress, I should still bring Hong Wa back to the sect and under my control to prevent any accident,” Wang Wei thought.

”Youʼre taking this better than I thought,” Yan Hai said.

”Things have changed. Ying Zheng is no longer as big a threat.”

Yan Hai squinted before muttering. ”Yes, things have changed fast.”

”Anyway, what happened afterward?” Wang Wei switched his tea for wine, and then perked his ears to listen.

”The Infinite Divine Court knew they only had a short period, so they moved fast,” Qiyuan continued. ”Their next attack followed a similar pattern of weakening our strength, so they targeted the demon race. Out of nowhere, the battle between the Tribal Sacred Mountain and the Demon God Cave began.”

”Ooh, that must have been tough to navigate.”

”It was. We all know these two factions have an eternal hatred for each other, and it was only a matter of time before they fought. The worst part is, no matter who won, the court would be weakened. So, the issue became whether I should allow this cancer to be removed or forcefully delay treatment.”

”What did you choose?”

”I honestly didnʼt have a choice in the first place,” Qiyuan replied.

”What do you mean?”

”To be elected as the Heavenly Emperor, I had to compromise with many factions. For the demon race, I promised not to interfere in their battle. For the Innate Demon Gods, I promised to secretly use the courtʼs power to train some of their legions.”

”What was the result?”

”The Demon God Cave was destroyed. Primal Mystic Ice and Arcane Flame died,” Li Ming added. ”However, before their death, they took down the Battle Ape Chief with them.”

”So, the demon race only has the Myriad Star Rabbit as their chief? No one took advantage of this weakness? Not even the Divine Court?” Wang Wei knew that the moment Qiyuan allowed one of the Heavenly Courtʼs core factions to be destroyed, more chaos and internal fighting would follow soon.

”I wouldnʼt allow that to happen,” Qiyuan calmly said in a powerful voice. ”Plus, I didnʼt even need to do that much. A few years later, both Ao Shen and Ye Dafu became Primal and took on the position of Chief.”

”Hmm? Ye Dafu did?” Wang Wei wouldnʼt be too surprised by Ao Shen, but that monkey had lost his mind because of his wifeʼs death.

”From what we have gathered, the desire to storm the underworld to save his life has become a powerful motivator for him,” Wang Chong said. ”And we suspect he has created a technique that uses obsession to boost his cultivation speed. But thatʼs yet to be verified.”

”Hmm, that little monkey was extremely talented, and he might have inherited that personʼs spirit and destiny, so that I wouldnʼt be surprised,” Wang Wei thought.

”After the Demon-God War, I realized the crux of the Divine Courtʼs strategy: attack our weakness. And so, I prepared. My deduction was correct. Their next target was the Sword Path League; they wanted to use the news that little sister wasnʼt planning to keep her promise when she sold them the Ultimate Sword Path Destiny to cause chaos. Unfortunately for him, we quickly hid most of our actions.”

”The league should still be suspicious, right?”

”They were, or I should say, they are,” Yan Hai replied.

”But they didnʼt have much of a choice. The Slaughter God and the Seven Strike Sword God left for the expedition, leaving them weakened. They knew we were currently the most powerful faction, and without the Saint to restrain us, a battle meant their destruction,” Li Mind added.

”That makes sense. But didnʼt anyone become Primal?”

”Ji Lanfang did, but he was new and still weak.”

”What about Jian Wushuang?”

”Heʼs now the League Master, but heʼs not a Primal.”

Wang Wei paused briefly and realized it made sense. The last time he met them, he noticed Jian Wushuangʼs sword slowly dulling because of his desire for power; he guessed this might be his fate the moment he decided to marry Su Li.

”Continue.”

”My plan was for when the Divine Court targeted the Divine Faith Haven,” Qiyuan continued. ”I controlled Divine Iron, which Shen Tian put in charge in his absence. Through him, I fed the Divine Court countless valuable pieces of information, which led to severe damage to the Heavenly Court. Then, I pretended to have found the traitors and prepared to execute them.”

”The Divine Court is known for its loyalty, so they wouldnʼt allow the Gods to be annihilated.”

”Exactly, and thatʼs when they failed for my trap,” Qiyuan calmly explained. ”The moment Wan Yanmei ordered the gods to enter the Black Headquarters, it was checkmate. What she didnʼt know was that I had corrupted the Origin of Divinity of the entire Divine Faith Haven, leaving traces of Heavenly Daoʼs power deep in their [Existence]. The —”

”Donʼt tell me,” Wang Wei said.

Qiyuan nodded. ”Things proceeded as I predicted. Heavenly Dao didnʼt act — Grand Dao did, and this time, she was ready. The entire black dome was destroyed.”

Wang Wei squinted; this was a great victory. The presence of the black dome, or the Black Headquarters, meant the rule of the Infinite Divine Timeline had corrupted or superseded the rules of the Primordial Timeline, so no matter how much the Divine Court suffered, theyʼd always have a safe place to regroup and fight back. More importantly, the black dome is the key to invading the Primordial Timeline and forcefully descending into the world.
