Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1793: Expected Backbone

Wang Wei waved his hand to condense a golden crystal in the place where Shen Tian disappeared. With this physical manifestation of the Divine Faith Haven’s destiny, it will be easier for him to plunder everything from them upon his return. The last thing he needed was for someone else to try to receive the fruit of his labor before he did.

His gaze then shifted to the northeast corner of this battlefield. A sigh echoed between Heaven and Earth before Old Man Black Chess exited the void. The elderly man stared at the place his ally died, exhaled to control his emotions, before looking at Wang Wei: ”Is there really a need to become enemies? If your objective is to control the hall, I’m willing to cooperate — even if it means handing over my closed subordinates. I only ask that we sign a fair agreement.”

”You are too ambitious and too smart,” Wang Wei replied. ”A lot of things will be happening when we return, and the last thing I want to waste my time on is protecting against your schemes and calculations, which you will make.” People’s nature cannot easily be changed. Old Man Black Chess is an ambitious and brilliant strategy. His current surrender is nothing but a move to buy him enough time.

If it were earlier, Wang Wei would have chosen the more peaceful approach; he might even have tried to subdue a talent such as Old Man Black Chess, trying to convert him into one of his men. But, as he said, he will be too busy with many things upon his return, meaning he doesn’t have the time or patience to be playing mind games with a veteran old fox. So, the best approach is to forcefully control him.

”Why be so rigid?” Old Man Black Chess sighed. He knew a conversation was pointless. However, despite his chances of victory being so slim, he would not give up so easily — he would not accept his fate. A projection of a humongous Go board manifested between Heaven and Earth. At first, nothing happened, and it appeared to be just a hologram of some sort, but soon enough, a hand placed a black piece directly at the center of the board.

Old Man Black Chess seemed to become the center of all of Heaven and Earth, and he used that position to forcefully absorb an enormous amount of power to regain his previous Primal strength. The old man did not spend his time helping the father-son duo; he was also planning for his own battle.

”Interesting. He must have spent years studying the laws of this world for him to be able to borrow so much power from Heaven and Earth,” Wang Wei analyzed. ”And his accomplishments in Array Dao should also be unique.” In the lower dimension, there was a saying never to underestimate an Eternal Emperor; these words could be applied to the Primal of not just the Eternal Ascension World, but all worlds in Primordial Chaos. Unfortunately, Old Man Black Chess’s brilliance will end in this world.

Wang Wei did not hesitate to rush over, and Old Man Black Chess — who was prepared — made his move. The chessboard behind him suddenly changed with countless black and white pieces. A marvelous cavalry manifested before Wang Wei, with every soldier wearing black gold armor and riding Heavenly Dragon Horses. There were more than one hundred million soldiers, and they formed a military array to combine their strength.

Wang Wei did not care about this technique. The higher the cultivators, the less group tactics were applied to them. At his level, he can probably slaughter an army of Peak Paragons and even a small battalion of C-Class Primals. As such, he did not stop his momentum; on the contrary, he clenched his fist, preparing to release a devastating blow that would instantly annihilate most of this army.

However, just as he was about to release that punch, he suddenly sensed something; it was a very subtle, but brilliant power of fate. Most Fate Dao users might not have noticed this power in this situation — that’s how subtle it was. ”Interesting,” Wang Wei thought as he analyzed its effect.

”Had I thrown that punch, I would have ”accidentally” used too much force and created an opening in the isolation area. Old Man Black Chess would then use that small opening to escape. He’s worthy of someone who has cultivated Chess Dao to the level of using Heaven and Earth as the board.”

Wang Wei’s attack annihilated the army, and Old Man Black Chess secretly sighed; it was truly not possible to influence a Master of Fate with the power of fate. However, the game has just started, and he still has a few moves. The blood and soul of the defeated army rematerialized and turned into a cage, which was in fact a Sealing Array, all in the hope of stopping Wang Wei’s advance.

”It’s pointless.”

Old Man Black Chess’s expression turned ugly as he turned around, unleashing a blast of Extreme Yin Energy. Boom! His attack was nullified, and his four limbs exploded into blood mists. Chains condensed from Wang Wei’s blood and bind the elderly man, rendering him helpless. Old Man Black Chess looked at his opponent. He had so many plans and moves calculated, but all of them were useless in the face of absolute strength.

Intelligence and wisdom can overcome the odds, but there are requirements for this fact to be true. A man of wisdom requires time to plan, and they also need the right setting to display their intelligence. In his situation, he had none of those things. So, in the end, absolute might was crowned the victor.

Wang Wei placed his hand on the elderly man’s forehead, directly using his willpower to suppress and conquer Old Man Black Chess’s Paragon Soul. The resistance was immense, but the Saint Will Prototype was too overbearing; it was only a matter of time before the former leader of the Limitless Exchange Hall became a slave, and he knew it.

Old Man Black Chess looked at Wang Wei in his eyes, ”I am an Eternal Emperor, a Paragon that stands at the pinnacle of Immortality. Before the age of the Saints, I was at the top of the universe. Do you think I accept being enslaved?”

A look of madness flashed in his eyes. A black chess suddenly flew from the depths of Old Man Black Chess’s Sea of Consciousness. It released a terrifying power that tore apart the seal imposed on its owner. Using that brief moment of freedom, Old Man Black Chess immediately blew up his soul and consciousness. Even if he dies, he would not become a slave. His pride as a Great Emperor, a being who stands above all races, would not accept such a fate.

”You’re not one of those Gods, so of course, I expect you to have a backbone,” Wang Wei calmly stated. He acted swiftly to capture the biggest soul piece before injecting his spirit particle into it. Using a Parasitism Technique, Wang Wei instantly possessed Old Man Black Chess’s body.

”So, this was his plan from the start?” the elderly man thought before his consciousness faded into nothingness. The good news is he was technically not dead. But he wasn’t alive as well since Wang Wei had now possessed his body. The spirit particle worked its magic and condensed a new soul that contained most of Old Man Black Chess’s memories, aura, Dao, and destiny. However, the one in control was the spirit particle.

”How much of his power have you inherited?”

”About 80-85%,” the spirit particle answered as it regenerated its limbs.

”How long will it take to return to your peak?”

”Give me a couple of hundred thousand years, and it shouldn’t be an issue.”

”Good,” Wang Wei nodded. ”Cultivate at least to the 3-star Ancestor Fiendgod Realm before returning home.”

The spirit particle nodded. With such fleshly body strength and the previous Primal abilities, he should have no issue taking control of the Limitless Exchange Hall from the Water Immortal. Once this plan is executed, the loose cultivators of the Eternal Ascension World will become the unknown mercenaries of the Dao Opening Sect.

After checking to ensure nothing was wrong, the two of them went their separate ways. No one can know the two were related, so during this time, the spirit particle is recuperating; he also has the task of engraving the Heaven Deception Array in every atom of his body. Meanwhile, Wang Wei returned to his cave. After this battle, he had learned quite a deal and wanted to use this time to absorb everything.

As he rushed into his cultivation seclusion room, Wangchen looked at his back with eyes on the verge of tears. The boy, no, the young man knew that their fate would end when his teacher left his retreat.

”Maybe, it’s for the best,” Chenli said, patting his shoulder. Wang Wei’s presence is a constant reminder of something Wangchen can never have. So, it may be best for everybody involved if he’s no longer here.
