Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1718: The Comeback of An Ancient Power

Now that he was alone, Wang Wei summoned his Karma Chessboard. He gently caressed the artifact: he had so many plans for it, but things changed so fast during the war that he had little use for it. Regardless of the situation, he did not abandon this artifact as Wang Wei still believed in its value.

’Let’s get started,’ Wang Wei thought. Saints are truly exceptional beings. Despite meeting Sovereign Dao Eyes, despite the latter forming an enmity with Wang Wei, even though Wang Wei already had killing intent, the karma line between them was almost nonexistent. If not for Wang Wei’s mastery of Karma Dao and the fact that their confrontation was recent, the karma thread would have already dissipated.

’Sainthood is truly a process of transcending all limitations and concepts of the Chaos Universe,’ Wang Wei analyzed as he continued his work. With control over the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, he did not require assistance from another Saint for his plan to continue. Just by controlling the Heavenly Dao of the headquarters alone, he was able to use its power to strengthen the karma between himself and Sovereign Dao Eyes to condense a chess piece on the board.

The next step was planting ideas that would lead to his enemy’s death. However, Wang Wei was not stupid enough to think he could achieve such a thing to a Saint at his current level without them noticing — even with the help of the array. When it comes to being harmed or dying, all cultivators have extraordinary senses; all life has the innate desire for self-preservation, and cultivation is also a process of evolving into higher beings, which is why they all have this ability.

Unfortunate for Sovereign Dao Eyes, Wang Wei was prepared for such a possibility. He had prepared a few trump cards against the Saints. Although most were useless or required unique circumstances, some were effective when used correctly. With a flicker of his wrist, a sphere of dark-red energy materialized on his palm. As he looked at this substance, a look of dread flashed in Wang Wei’s eyes.

What was his greatest asset in the cultivation world? Was it his talent? His high background? His vast array of ideas from Earth? Maybe his powerful wife, who has been supporting him for a while now? No. While all of these contributed to his success, his greatest asset has always been his intelligence and wisdom. And the thing in his hands was the greatest threat to that asset.

”I am surprised that after everything the world has experienced, Heavenly Dao has never used Qi of Calamity,” Wang Wei muttered. Depending on the concentration, a tiny bit of this energy/power would have someone as smart as him making the dumbest decision. With such a power, how could Heavenly Dao not use it?

Sadly, Supreme Unity knew it was one of the latter’s greatest sources of reliance, so the first thing it did after taking majority control was destroy the means of production. It also helped that the Seven Moons were already acting as if the Qi of Calamity infected them. Later, after gaining its freedom, Heavenly Dao also planned to use this power on the invaders, but Maitreya did not allow it for two reasons:

First, she was sure that the Infinite Divine Court had dealt with many events involving the Qi of Calamity. As one of the greatest weapons of Heavenly Dao, they must have encountered it numerous times during their conquest and developed an effective means of detecting and dealing with it. Instead of wasting it, Maitreya has been using her powers to help Heavenly Dao condense the Qi of Calamity into an even purer form to use as a trump card one day. Wang Wei had gained access to the latest development and was about to test it out on Sovereign Dao Eyes.

’Let’s see the effect of this weapon,’ Wang Wei thought as he injected the dark-red sphere into the chess piece belonging to Sovereign Dao Eyes. His eyes shifted to the Display Array, focusing on the domineering man’s actions. Technically speaking, Wang Wei’s senses were not enough to follow a battle between Primordial Saints. However, he had his means.

He did not use the base’s array as that would swiftly drain his soul energy. Instead, he used his own technique: Saint True Eyes. The Saint Art he created was the combination of everything he had learned since his cultivation. In it, he also created a few battle techniques to fight a true Saint without issue, one of which was the Saint True Eyes.

Of course, Wang Wei could not use that technique in his current form. However, he could still use a castrate version using his Saint Dao Heart as a medium. Without having to worry about tiring himself out, he observed the fate of his target with a sneer on his face. The bastard must die, and even if he somehow survives this tribulation, Wang Wei will continue to target him.

Sovereign Dao Eyes was at risk the moment he arrived at his post. The node he was in charge of was one of the most significant ones, with the Slaughter Ancestor and the Barbarian Race member of the Infinite Divine Court battling. Due to the significance of this mission, Wang Wei sent a few other Primordial Saints with him, but Dao Eyes was the leader.

”Go and attack the node, and I’ll use my Dao Eyes to observe any shockwave from the Tribunal Lords and warn you in case of danger,” he ordered his teammates, instantly making them resentful. However, the Lords had already warned them not to disobey military orders. So, they gritted their teeth and followed. Luckily for them, the enemy Primordial Saints intercepted them.

These Saints were old foxes, so they immediately pretended as if their enemy was too strong for them. ”Captain, we need your help.”

”You need my help? You outnumber them 5 to 2, and you say you need my help? If you’re going to pretend, do a better job,” Sovereign Dao Eyes sneered. ”Do your job or face military punishment.”

The team gritted their teeth and intensified their attacks. Meanwhile, Sovereign Dao Eyes did as he promised. He was born with special eyes and has used them throughout his cultivation journey; he never wasted an opportunity to evolve further or transform them. By pushing himself to the limit, he detected some of the shockwaves from the battle and used that information to protect himself and warn his teammates.

Unfortunately, fate seemed against him. Not long after the fight started, the enemy’s Primordial Saint suddenly received a boost from their array, instantly turning the tide of the battle. ”Captain, this time, we really need your help this time.”

’Damn these bastards,’ Sovereign Dao eyes cursed. Wasn’t this the perfect excuse? Now that they were not pretending, they could just cost line this mission and would have the perfect excuse. But these people dragged him into the mess. He understood their mindset. Despite the constant warnings, it did not change the fact that Sovereign Dao Eyes was safe, and if he wanted, could determine their lives. So, the best approach for these Saints is to force them into the same situation they are in.

After mulling over the situation, Dao Eyes determined the best course of action was to join the battle with them. With a 6 to 2 advantage, he can pretend he was in a difficult situation while simultaneously continuing to use his visual prowess to detect random shockwaves. However, just as he was about to execute this plan, he had another brilliant idea: what if he achieved his mission?

As long as he successfully tests this node, he can return to the base without any excuses and hold his head proudly. ’More importantly, if I’m the first one to succeed, I might receive extra rewards,’ Sovereign Dao Eyes analyzed. As soon as this idea was imprinted in his mind, he could not erase it, so he deduced the possibilities. His team can hold the enemy back, allowing him to bypass their defense to reach the formation.

’It’s feasible,’ Sovereign Dao Eyes thought excitedly. Without wasting another second, he ordered his teams to hold the enemy with all their might before rushing past them. The enemy’s Saint tried to stop him, but Sovereign Dao Eyes was too quick, and they were restrained. The team wondered what had gotten to their captain, but since the latter chose to do the most challenging task, they were more than happy.

The node was one of the 1.269 million worlds that comprise the court’s array. After bypassing their defense line, Sovereign Dao Eyes reached his destination and immediately released a barrage of attacks. His visual powers contained not only unique means of detection but also terrifying attacks.

Sovereign Dao Eyes was excited as he recorded all the fluctuations from this node. His plan would work.

Boom!

An unknown shockwave struck with such force that he flew into the array. However, he did not enter, but hit the protective film of the array and bounced off; his injuries were further aggravated. However, little did he know this was the beginning of his bad luck.
