BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

The next day.

Liu Xi, having prepared himself, stepped in front of Liu Ming. Looking at his father seriously, he said, ”Father.”

”Come to the training ground.” Liu Ming turned and walked out of the hall as he spoke, his voice calm but firm.

In the martial field, the father and son faced one another. Liu Ming clasped his hands behind his back, his gaze steady.

”Xi’er, I’ll first explain some common knowledge to you.”

”Our cultivation realms are divided into: Dou Zhi Qi, Dou Zhe, Dou Shi, Da Dou Shi, Dou Ling, Dou Wang, Dou Huang, Dou Zong, Dou Zun, Dou Saint, and Dou Di. Beyond Dou Zong, those people are peerless experts whose strength is unfathomable. Even at the Dou Wang realm, such individuals are like dragons—rarely seen. You only need to understand this for now.”

”Cultivation relies on Qi Methods and Dou Techniques. After countless years of inheritance, from ancient times until now, these have been classified into four classes: Tian Class, Di Class, Xuan Class, and Huang Class. Each class is further divided into Low, Mid, and High. High Qi Methods and Dou Techniques can greatly accelerate cultivation speed and enhance combat strength. The Qi Method I practice is something I once obtained by chance—a Mid Huang Class Qi Method. Higher ones are priceless, nearly impossible to acquire. That we even have a Huang Class method is already fortunate.”

”These things are far away for you. We must first start with the foundation. The Dou Qi between heaven and earth is extremely violent. Before training, the human body is not as resilient as a magic beast’s—it cannot directly absorb Dou Qi. That is why we must first refine Dou Zhi Qi to strengthen the body. Only when all 9 stages of Dou Zhi Qi have been cultivated to completion and a cyclone forms in the dantian can one become a Dou Zhe.”

”Alright. Now I’ll teach you the technique to sense Dou Qi.”

After explaining the fundamentals, Liu Ming began instructing Liu Xi in the method.

The technique was not complicated. Liu Xi memorized everything, then sat cross-legged and started his very first attempt.

’Just as I thought… what I lacked was only a way to begin sensing the Dou Qi of heaven and earth.’

He focused, following the instructions: first sense the flow of Dou Qi, then draw a wisp inside, let it flow through the body to temper the flesh, before finally guiding it into the dantian where it transforms into Dou Zhi Qi.

’So the level of Dou Zhi Qi is determined by the amount accumulated…’

Thoughts kept flashing through his mind, but Liu Xi quickly forced himself to still his heart.

’Calm down. Just feel the presence of Dou Qi.’

Gradually, as his mind emptied, his extraordinary soul power seeped outward from between his brows.

It was as though a heavenly eye had opened. The world transformed into a sea of colors, unlike the solid shapes perceived by mortal eyes. Around him surged radiant light, an ocean of hues.

Where his father stood, a blazing crimson radiance burned hot, like a volcano about to erupt.

’That’s Father’s fire attribute Dou Qi…’

Not hesitating any longer, Liu Xi drew in a strand of Dou Qi.

A warm current flowed into his body, coursing through his meridians. It weakened as it spread, until it finally reached the dantian.

Liu Xi sensed the faint wisp of energy and thought, ’This must be Dou Zhi Qi.’

His heart overflowed with joy. At last, he had taken the first step—the foundation of survival on the Dou Qi Continent.

He eagerly continued pulling in more energy, storing it in his dantian. The growing Dou Zhi Qi filled him with excitement, like watching his own experience bar climb higher and higher. It was intoxicating.

Only when his spirit was exhausted did he finally stop. Opening his eyes, his small face looked weary, but his eyes glowed with excitement.

”Father, I have Dou Qi now!”

Liu Ming was startled with delight. Stepping forward, he gripped his son’s shoulders and probed with his own Dou Qi. Indeed, he felt the faint resistance of energy within Liu Xi’s body.

’A genius! On his first attempt, he already cultivated Dou Zhi Qi. He has the talent of a Dou Huang!’

Releasing him, Liu Ming’s eyes shone with pride and joy. ”As expected of my son. In the future, you will certainly surpass me and become a true powerhouse. But remember, diligence is essential. Do not slack off.”

”Yes, Father. I won’t disappoint you.”

While he replied earnestly, his thoughts churned.

’So my talent is not weak at all. Even if not the greatest, it is definitely above average. With this foundation, if I tread carefully, I can grow strong enough to stand tall in this world.’

’Right now I am still small and far too weak. But I have one advantage—I know the opportunities Xiao Yan encountered in the original story. Once I am strong enough, I must find ways to seize some of them. If the great roc can soar ninety thousand li in a day, then why can’t I? Since I’ve come to this world, if given the chance, I must ascend to the peak and witness with my own eyes the glory of the Dou Di realm!’
