Ghost Catching System

The next day, Chu Hao came to the Shuxiang Garden gate again and saw September.

Chu Hao said, ”Senior, I want to ask you something—how do I increase my work-study points?”

September didn’t even know how long it had been since she last bathed. Her body had a sour smell. It was obvious she was really lazy and didn’t like to dress up or tidy herself.

September said, ”Stick to your post, and you can get one work-study point every half year.”

Half a year for just one point—ten points would take four or five years.

Chu Hao said, ”Is there a faster way?”

September pulled something out of her pocket. Chu Hao saw that it was a cigarette. She lit it, took a drag, and said, ”Of course. You can take missions. The Merit Hall has plenty of missions, but I don’t recommend it. Right now you only have one point. If you skip work once, you’ll lose that one point. If you run out, you might have to roll up your bedding and get lost.”

Chu Hao said, ”Doesn’t that mean we work-studies have no way to do missions?”

September said, ”It’s not impossible. You need a slip of approval. If Sister Fang thinks you’re up to it, she’ll approve leave for you so you can go complete the mission.”

Go to Qin Guifang?

That was too much trouble. Would Qin Guifang really be that nice to a newly arrived work-study?

Chu Hao didn’t believe it.

After switching shifts with September, Chu Hao’s mind kept wandering. He really wanted to show what he could do, but Jiuhua’s rules were too many. What if he got kicked out?

Just then, a white-robed female student walked over and said with a giggle, ”Hey, little pretty boy, new here?”

Chu Hao glanced at this female student. Calling her ugly would be an understatement. Her shoulders were broad, waist thick, and her legs were almost as thick as Chu Hao’s waist.

Her features were even more exaggerated: nostrils pointing to the sky, thick lips like two big sausages, and her beady little eyes kept throwing flirty glances at Chu Hao.

A chill ran down Chu Hao’s spine, and he gave a slight nod.

The ugly girl batted her eyes and said, ”Off work later, got time for a date?”

Chu Hao felt a wave of disgust and said, ”No.”

The ugly girl snorted coldly and said, ”I’ll wait for you tonight, under the third willow tree across from the Shuxiang Garden gate. If you don’t come, you’re on your own.”

With that, the ugly girl left.

Chu Hao was a bit dazed. What the hell was this about?

Not far away, a white-robed female student said, ”Sigh, such a good-looking little pretty boy, and he got targeted by that female hooligan.”

”Exactly. This little pretty boy is doomed. I remember a work-study boy who turned her down, and the next day he was rolling up his bedding and kicked out.”

”I heard that woman specifically goes after handsome guys. She even says she wants to prove ugly women can get handsome men too. So disgusting.”

”Shh, keep your voice down. That ugly girl’s brother is a Yellow-robed Student.”

Chu Hao’s hearing was too sharp. After hearing the girls’ chatter, he was almost disgusted to death.

This ugly woman wants to climb on Brother Hao?

Keep daydreaming.

Dammit, what kind of freaks does this Jiuhua Glory Holy Land not have?

That night, after switching shifts with September, Chu Hao left. When the ugly girl didn’t see him show up, she flew into a rage.

”Brat, just you wait for this old lady. You dare reject me?” the ugly girl shouted angrily.

...

By that time, Chu Hao had already gone to the Merit Hall.

The Merit Hall was huge and lavishly decorated. There were quite a few students in the main hall, most of them Red-robed Students. Some were handing in missions, others were looking over the missions.

Chu Hao saw the mission wall, covered in all kinds of missions.

”Go to the Xinlin District to investigate the cause of death of resident Li Qingmei and find the killer. Rewards: 0.1 credits.”

”Investigate a Split-Mouthed Corpse Monster in the Panlong District. This corpse monster is adept at disguising itself as a human. This mission is recommended for those in the Yin Yang Geomage Mastery Realm. Rewards: 0.5 credits.”

”Fenghua District, a commission from the Fang Family: search for their missing young daughter. Rewards: 0.3 credits.”

There were all sorts of missions, and the vast majority required going out and would take several days.

However, none of the missions here rewarded more than a single credit.

Chu Hao looked up and saw quite a few Red-robed Students and Blue-robed Students on the second floor of the Merit Hall. The missions on the second floor probably had higher rewards.

Chu Hao wanted to go up and take a look, but he was blocked.

A Guard standing at the stairway said coldly, ”Only Red-robed and Blue-robed Students can go to the second floor. Show your student badge.”

Chu Hao couldn’t get up there, but he still wanted to take a mission. He’d heard that the Beidou Hall was going to be revamped and wouldn’t reopen until next month, and he didn’t want to wait that long.

As for asking for leave to go do missions, the thought never even crossed Chu Hao’s mind. With his speed, he could get there and back quickly and still be back in time for work.

Chu Hao picked a mission notice that suited him, took it to the front desk, and said, ”Hi, I’m taking this mission.”

The receptionist was a woman, who said blandly, ”Show your student badge.”

Chu Hao took out his work-study badge; it was basically a student card.

After checking it, the receptionist looked up in surprise and said, ”You’re a work-study?”

Chu Hao gave a slight nod. This kind of surprised look wasn’t the first time he’d seen it. Apparently, work-studies rarely came here to take missions.

The receptionist smiled and said, ”A 0.5-credit mission—you sure about that?”

Chu Hao said, ”I’m sure. I’m in a hurry.”

The female receptionist shrugged and stamped his notice, saying, ”Alright. As long as you bring back the Split-Mouthed Corpse Monster’s head, the mission counts as complete. The time limit is one week. If you fail to complete it, the mission will be deemed a failure and 0.2 credits will be deducted from you.”

Chu Hao nodded slightly and turned to leave.

The receptionist shook her head and said, ”What’s with work-studies these days, so desperate for credits? They even take suicide missions like this.”

Chu Hao didn’t know that someone on the third floor had noticed him.

A woman in a Jiuhua Glory Holy Land purple robe was walking on the third floor when she happened to look down and see Chu Hao.

The woman wore a veil, and very few people had ever seen her face, but her figure was truly top-notch. As she walked upstairs, she was stared at by countless people, especially the male students.

She was the famous beauty of Jiuhua Glory Holy Land, Su Yao.

Su Yao thought she’d seen wrong, but only after Chu Hao left did she react and mutter, ”It really is him.”

Su Yao said oddly, ”Why isn’t he wearing a student uniform?”

The Sacred Land had a rule: all students had to wear student uniforms. If they didn’t, points would be deducted.

”Xiao Yao, what are you looking at?” Next to Su Yao stood another purple-robed female student, also quite pretty.

Su Yao said, ”A very formidable guy.”

The purple-robed female student was surprised and said, ”Someone actually got praised as ’formidable’ by you, Su Yao? How strong is he then? Where is he?”

Su Yao shook her head and said, ”He left. Help me look into him. His name is Zhang Han.”

The purple-robed female student looked like she’d discovered a new continent and said, ”Oh my god! Su Yao, you’re actually this invested in a student? Just from the name I can tell he’s a guy. Su Yao, don’t tell me your springtime heart is stirring.”

Su Yao said helplessly, ”What are you thinking? I just purely want to know how strong he is. He really is quite mysterious.”

The purple-robed female student covered her mouth, laughing. ”Su Yaojing, this is not a good sign. You’re actually taking an interest in a man.”

Su Yao said speechlessly, ”Sister Mu, you don’t know what kind of person I am? Stop teasing me.”

Sister Mu nodded slightly and said, ”Alright, Zhang Han, right? I’ll look into him. But is there any reward?”

Su Yao said, ”What reward do you want, my dear Sister Mu?”

Sister Mu stared at Su Yao’s chest and said, ”Hehe… that place countless people dream of touching—I want a squeeze.”

”Get lost, you damn female hooligan.”
