Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All

Verity:

Finally, I reached the place where her father had stopped her.

He was taking her toward the living room.

As soon as they got there, Mr. Bundy shoved Jenna onto the couch and, without hesitation, started slapping her across the face.

She screamed, trying to ask him what she had done wrong.

That was when I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to step in.

I immediately grabbed his wrist and forced his hand away from her.

”Enough!” I yelled, stepping between them.

”If you dared try stopping me, I will hit you too. Because this kind of shitty behavior deserves consequences.”

He came at me, but before his hand could land on me, someone caught his wrist.

Jaguar stepped between us, his eyes fixed on the man.

I noticed how badly Jenna’s body was trembling.

”What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” he asked Mr. Bundy, his jaw clenched so tightly that, for a moment, even I was intimidated.

”She’s getting between me and my daughter,” Mr. Bundy had the nerve to say.

For the first time, I heard Mr. Bundy raise his voice.

”And why are you raising your hand on your own daughter like this?” Jaguar yelled.

I immediately turned around and hugged poor Jenna.

”Nobody should question my father,” Jenna whispered to me, shaking her head as she hiccuped.

She thought that was probably for the best because maybe her pictures have already reached her father.

”Ask her what she’s been doing,” her father yelled.

Jaguar turned slightly toward Jenna before looking back at her father.

”Then why don’t you handle it like a civilized person?” he screamed back, pushing Mr. Bundy backward until he fell onto the couch.

”That’s exactly what I was saying. What was the need to create such a scene?” Mrs. Bundy stepped forward, anxiously rubbing her hands together.

”But what happened? Will somebody tell me?” Jaguar yelled.

”She’s been going out at night. For the past fifteen days, she hasn’t spent a single night at home. Ask her what she’s been doing.”

As soon as Mr. Bundy said that, goosebumps rose all over my skin.

I truly hadn’t imagined that they might have found out.

But now they knew.

I mean, whatever they had discovered, it was dangerous enough.

Jenna immediately grabbed my hand, gripping it so tightly that her nails dug into my skin.

”Who?” I asked in confusion.

”A Warrior told me,” Mr. Bundy replied.

I remembered Jenna telling me that whenever she went in and out of the mansion, there was one warrior who would watch her but remain silent.

She had assumed he did that because he worked for Gigi.

But now he had suddenly decided to tell her father, and I could already guess why.

Of course, her brother was involved.

They had been tormenting Jenna, but why? What exactly had happened?

Was it because Lady Lucille wanted to replace Gigi with Jenna?

It could be.

Gigi would do something like that. She was that kind of person.

”If you had simply asked her first, things wouldn’t have reached this point.” Finally, I gathered my courage and got to my feet.

Even Mrs. Bundy was watching me hopefully, as if I might say something that would excuse her daughter’s behavior.

”Your daughter had Alpha King Ragnar’s permission to go out at night and study, but none of you knew because all you ever do is judge her. You simply judge her,” I yelled, watching them stare at me in silence.

”She had Alpha King Ragnar’s permission?” Mr. Bundy turned to Mrs. Bundy, who shrugged.

”Then why didn’t she tell me?” Mr. Bundy asked, pointing at his chest.

”Have you ever cared enough about your daughter to ask? Have you ever sat down with her and considered that she’s twenty-three years old and doesn’t need to be questioned for everything she does? Have you asked about her friends, whether she has a boyfriend, or whether she’s ever liked someone? No. All you’ve ever done is set rules for her and expect her to live exactly the way you want. Of course the poor girl can’t tell you anything.”

I grunted, watching guilt settle over their faces.

”And without asking her a single question or giving her a chance to explain, you came here and started hitting her.”

As I said that, Mr. Bundy looked genuinely ashamed.

”Anyway, as soon as Alpha King Ragnar returns, you can ask him yourselves.”

I didn’t know why I was putting all my eggs in one basket, but since he wasn’t around and wouldn’t be back for a while, I figured I would either have to speak to him later or hope they simply let the matter go.

”Sweetheart, I made a terrible mistake.” Mr. Bundy immediately got to his feet.

”That bastard warrior made it sound like–” His fist clenched as he sucked in a deep breath.

”I’ll deal with him myself.” Jaguar scoffed. ”But I’ll deal with you first. How did you even dare raise your hand against her? No matter what happened, no matter what she did or what kind of wrongdoing she committed, unless she murdered someone or stole from someone, you had no right to hit her.”

The way Jaguar spoke made it sound as though he was insinuating something.

Maybe he knew something.

Maybe that was why he had drawn such a specific line around what he considered serious wrongdoing.

I turned to Jenna and gently touched her cheek.

”I’ve told you, I’ll defend you with my life,” I said to her.

She immediately hugged me. Then she got up from the couch and rushed toward her mother.

”You ignorant man. You hit the poor girl like that,” Mrs. Bundy hissed at Mr. Bundy, who lowered his gaze in shame.

I didn’t feel sorry for him at all.

Fine, we were lying, but that didn’t mean he had the right to hit his daughter.

She was twenty-three years old.

For one thing, she was an adult. She could sleep with whoever she wanted.

But everything that had happened was partly because of them and their ridiculous restrictions.

And second, being blackmailed wasn’t her fault either.

But how was anyone supposed to make them understand that?
