Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2117: Chapter 2117: King of the Pirates (8)

[Hidden Task: Please obtain a Good Person Card from Bu Qing and prevent the darkening of the Good Person Card.]

Chuzheng hadn’t gone far from the Island Lord’s Mansion when the King’s Account assigned her a task.

[Missy, your Good Person Card is by the beach!] The King’s Account kindly provided coordinates, urging Chuzheng to swiftly rescue her Good Person Card.

Chuzheng: ”...” She wasn’t very interested and just wanted to go back to cuddle the kids and sleep.

The King’s Account was incredibly noisy, so Chuzheng resigned herself to heading towards the beach.

At this moment, the sea was calm, and the faint mist in the distance could be vaguely seen, appearing quite majestic.

Standing from an elevated position, Chuzheng could clearly see the scene below.

A few people were surrounding someone, punching and kicking, with clothes scattered all over the beach.

The person being beaten was curled up on the sand, clutching their head, looking very much like a shrimp...

[Missy, I think you should go save the person now, rather than being crazy about saying they look like a shrimp.] Even if they are like a shrimp, it’s still your Good Person Card; why are you disdaining them!

”...”

Before Chuzheng had a chance to act, those people stopped, cursed a few times, and left together.

Chuzheng stared with slightly cold eyes at those people, and only when they were far away did she go down.

The person lying on the beach hadn’t moved for a while, and if it weren’t for the slight rise and fall of their body, one might think they stopped breathing.

Looks rather young, dressed in coarse hemp clothing, with half the sleeve missing, revealing bluish-purple bruises.

As footsteps approached on the sand, there was a slight rustling. The person on the ground shivered slightly and laboriously raised their head.

With eyes misted with tears, they abruptly met Chuzheng’s cold gaze.

He might have thought it was those people returning, as his eyes held deep fear.

Realizing he didn’t recognize the person in front of him, there was a moment of confusion, then he lowered his head and struggled to stand.

Seeing him struggling, Chuzheng kindly reached out to help him.

Startled, the young man avoided her, falling back into the sand, gasping rapidly, looking at her in fear like a young animal caught in a trap.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Chuzheng roughly lifted him up, and the young man cringed, as if Chuzheng might hit him, trembling all over.

”...” Chuzheng asked with displeasure: ”Why did they beat you?”

”...”

The young man staggered back a couple of steps without answering Chuzheng’s question, limping to pick up the clothes on the ground and place them in a nearby wooden tub.

He hugged the wooden tub and walked along the beach without acknowledging Chuzheng.

Unfortunately, the beating was so severe that after just a few steps, he fell to the ground along with the wooden tub.

”...”

Chuzheng, mindful of her card, went over to help him up again, picking up the clothes on the ground and stuffing them into the tub.

The young man hastily took the wooden tub, refusing Chuzheng’s further help, and walked on by himself.

Chuzheng had no intention of helping further, watching as he stopped in a deeper part of the water, taking the clothes from the tub to start washing them.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Chuzheng walked over to sit beside him, speaking: ”What’s your name?”

The young man ignored her, meticulously washing the clothes.

”Are you a local on the island?”

The young man switched to another piece of clothing.

”Do those people often bully you?”

The sea breeze stirred ripples on the water, rolling towards the shore in waves.

Chuzheng asked several questions, but didn’t hear the young man utter a single word. She glanced at the remaining clothes and his bruised body before getting up and leaving.

Only after Chuzheng was out of sight did the young man stop his actions, turning to look in the direction she left, pondering something, before eventually returning to his task.

Having finished washing the last piece of clothing, he wrung it out, placed it in the tub, and turned, only to bump into something.

Having crouched for too long, his legs felt numb, and his head spun, causing him to involuntarily fall towards the water.

As the thought of being doomed crossed his mind, there was a sudden tightness around his waist, and he was caught in a warm embrace.

His pupils contracted sharply, the dizziness worsening. He struggled to see who it was, but only a blurry figure was visible, and he instinctively tried to push them away.

”If I let go, you’ll fall into the water.” A girl’s clear voice sounded in his ear.

His grip relaxed.

Chuzheng lifted him into her arms, the young man suddenly airborne, startled by her strength and the fact that she was holding him this way.

Chuzheng sat him on a rock, and his first instinct was to get up, trying to distance himself from Chuzheng, but she easily pressed him back down with a paw.

It was as if a tiger had recaptured a fawn, struggling to get up and run, only to be pressed back down by the tiger’s paw.

The young man looked at her in terror, propping himself on the rock, inching away.

Chuzheng held him still, growling: ”Don’t move.”

He seemed frightened, trembling violently.

She took out some medicine and, grabbing his arm, began to apply it.

”I’m not going to hit you. What’s there to be scared of?” she said while applying the medicine. ”Don’t move around, or you’ll only hurt yourself more.”

”...”

Chuzheng treated his visible injuries, then scanned his body: ”Where else are you hurt?”

The young man shook his head in silence.

After some thought, she handed him the medicine: ”Apply it yourself where you need it.”

This wasn’t the time to undress the Good Person Card.

The young man took the medicine, breaking free from Chuzheng’s grip, and bolted away.

After a few steps, he remembered something, hesitatingly glancing back at her a few times before picking up the wooden tub and fleeing.

Chuzheng: ”...”

If I wanted to catch you, do you think you could escape?

And was she really that scary?

What on earth is wrong with this Good Person Card!

Bu Qing ran a distance, the pain from his wounds causing discomfort. He turned back but saw no one, gradually coming to a stop.

Taking a couple of breaths, he set the tub down, then went to the water’s edge to wash off the medicine Chuzheng had applied.

It was as though it wasn’t medicine she had put on him, but poison.

Once clean, Bu Qing tossed the medicine Chuzheng had given him into the water.

He watched the bottle gradually sink, pressing his chapped lips together, then turned to leave.

Waves from the distance rolled over, gently shaking the floating seaweed.

Suddenly, a shadow appeared on the water’s surface, followed by the sound of something entering the water.

Fumbling in the water for a moment, he found the medicine bottle resting on the brink of a rock under the water.

The rock was covered with a layer of green plants, making it slippery, and beyond the rock, there was no visible foothold.

Standing there without making a move for a long time, he finally gritted his teeth and carefully moved towards it.

With his waist bent, cautiously reaching for the bottle, water rippled around him, his fingertips just a bit away from the bottle, reaching a little further...

His fingertips touched the bottle, carefully hooking it towards him and then suddenly gripping it.

Got it!

But the moment he straightened up, the footing shifted, and he plunged into the water.
