Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1947: Chapter 1947: Mirror World (24)

In the end, Chuzheng thought it wouldn’t do to let Yu Shi stay there, after all, that place is crucial to connecting with the past.

So, Chuzheng found another place to lock up Yu Shi.

-

2020, Hospital.

Cheng Mu had been hospitalized for two days, and his mood was somewhat restless. After finishing his exams, he hadn’t gone back. Would that person be worried?

”Brother Mu.”

Li Huan came in with a thermos.

”When can I be discharged?”

”It takes a hundred days to recover from bone injuries, not to mention you were almost hit and crippled. You definitely need to stay at least half a month.” Li Huan wondered, ”Why are you in a hurry to be discharged? We’ve all graduated.”

Cheng Mu: ”...”

Telling you wouldn’t make you understand either.

Cheng Mu couldn’t be discharged, nor could he ask someone to help him return, because for that transport function to work, both he and Chuzheng had to be in the room.

It’s practically an unsolvable problem.

Li Huan said something, but Cheng Mu didn’t catch a single word.

”Brother Mu, you have a message.” Li Huan handed the phone to Cheng Mu.

A stranger’s number popped up on the screen, making Cheng Mu hesitant to look at it. Just as he put the phone down, he inexplicably opened it.

Inside the message was an image.

The handwriting in the image was very familiar to Cheng Mu.

”Who’s Chuzheng? Wait, this name sounds familiar!” Li Huan glanced at the contents and immediately gossiped, ”Isn’t this the person you asked my brother to look into last time? What is your relationship?!”

Cheng Mu didn’t hear what Li Huan said; he was shocked at how Chuzheng sent this message.

Aside from that mirror, there should be no other way to contact her.

However, why did she want him to stick close to his dad?

Thinking of Father Cheng’s face, Cheng Mu felt very resistant.

”Brother Mu! What are you thinking?”

Li Huan waved his hand in front of Cheng Mu.

”Nothing.”

Li Huan didn’t believe him, ”Are you secretly in a relationship without telling me?”

”Like hell, I am!” Cheng Mu replied irritably.

Li Huan made a face, ”Then tell me, who is Yuk Chuzheng?”

”No one.”

The more Cheng Mu refused to say, the more curious Li Huan became, badgering him for quite a while. In the end, he left disappointed, having pried nothing from Cheng Mu.

Li Huan stayed for a bit and then left.

Cheng Mu thought of what Chuzheng said and finally called Father Cheng, asking if he had free time to come to the hospital and stay with him.

Father Cheng was quite busy, but upon receiving Cheng Mu’s call, he still came.

”Didn’t you say you could handle being alone? Why call me over now?”

”If you don’t want to, you can leave.”

”You...” Father Cheng snorted, ”I won’t argue with a patient.”

Father Cheng thought Cheng Mu just wanted him to stay for a moment, but unexpectedly, when he planned to leave, Cheng Mu asked him to stay.

”You...” Father Cheng looked at his son oddly, ”Did you hit your head?”

Cheng Mu: ”...”

Listen to that! Is that something a father should say?

”If you’re unwilling, then just leave!”

Father Cheng: ”...”

Cheng Mu’s behavior following this puzzled Father Cheng.

But such gestures of goodwill, although Father Cheng didn’t show it on his face, he still complied, even rescheduling several appointments, moving his office work to the hospital.

-

Finally enduring until discharge, Cheng Mu couldn’t walk and could only sit in a wheelchair.

Father Cheng’s assistant was pushing him, with Father Cheng walking beside him. A phone call came in; Father Cheng wanted to take it on the side and told the assistant to take Cheng Mu to the car first.

Feeling uneasy at that moment, Cheng Mu recalled Chuzheng’s words, and instinctively reached out to grab Father Cheng’s clothes.

Father Cheng was momentarily stunned, ”Why are you acting like a child?”

”I’ll go with you.”

The young man slightly tilted his head to look at him, with little emotion in his eyes.

Yet, his action reminded Father Cheng of some past memories, and he finally said, ”Alright, alright.”

Father Cheng ended the call, sent a text message back, and then took the wheelchair from the assistant, personally pushing it outside.

As Cheng Mu got into the car, he saw through the window a figure flash past behind the hospital’s entrance pillar.

He immediately lowered the window, but there were only people coming and going—no sign of that person.

Qu An...

He believed he hadn’t seen it wrong.

So did she know something might happen and found a way to warn him?

”Dad, where is Qu An?”

”Abroad,” Father Cheng responded bemusedly, ”Why are you asking about him? Don’t worry, he won’t come back.”

”You should check. I think he’s not abroad.” Cheng Mu’s contact hadn’t provided him with any information, and he couldn’t reach them, unsure if something had happened.

Father Cheng was about to scold him for overthinking but turned his head to see Cheng Mu’s unsettling expression. He held back and made a call to check Qu An’s recent whereabouts.

Father Cheng’s network was quite good, and feedback came quickly.

Qu An had been back in the country for several days.

Father Cheng frowned, ”I’ll take care of this issue. Let’s get you home first.”

-

Returning to his room, the sense of insecurity he felt outside was instantly dispelled.

However, when he looked into the mirror, his expression shifted slightly.

This wasn’t his room.

The room in the mirror was filled with signs of a female occupant, with numerous drafts scattered on the desk—some were mere sketches, while others were complete works.

-

2030.

”Alright, I got it.” Chuzheng hung up Dai Mi’s call, came in from the balcony, and immediately saw the boy in the mirror.

He sat in the wheelchair, staring blankly at the mirror, seemingly in a daze.

Chuzheng raised an eyebrow, muttering to herself, ”I knew I was smart.”

Chuzheng moved to the side of the mirror’s reflection range, and as she approached it, she was about to reach out when she noticed the boy’s gaze was off.

Inky black eyes, though typically locked on the mirror, were usually unfocused.

It seemed he...

Chuzheng stepped back two steps, shifting to the side.

The boy’s gaze instinctively followed her movement.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Damn!

”You can see me now?”

Cheng Mu blinked, awkwardly turning his wheelchair to feign that he was merely spacing out earlier.

”Cheng Mu,” Chuzheng called out, ”Can you see me now?”

Cheng Mu ignored her and quickly moved towards the bathroom, leaving the mirror’s range.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Was it just a coincidence before?

While Chuzheng pondered if it was a fluke, Cheng Mu returned, glanced at the mirror, and his gaze was normally unfocused, without a focal point.

”I’m back. Are you there?”

Chuzheng didn’t respond, merely sat in the chair with her arms crossed, watching him.

”Not there?” Cheng Mu lowered his gaze. She detected something was wrong with just one glance—remarkably sharp. He almost couldn’t hold back.

The Chuzheng from ten years later was vastly different from the one from ten years ago...

He suddenly understood why Chuzheng didn’t want him to find her ten years ago. The feeling these two gave him was completely different.

As if they were entirely independent individuals...

Chuzheng sat there expressionless, and Cheng Mu felt somewhat uncomfortable being watched.

What did she mean by this?

Cheng Mu suddenly felt a bit of regret for hiding earlier.

Now he had to keep pretending.
