Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1888: Magic Apostle (9)

Alice said with a sob: ”My, my sister.”

Sister?

On that carriage?

Alice’s family wasn’t well-off. Besides her and her sister, she also had two younger brothers, and their parents preferred boys to girls.

Usually, the two sisters had no say at home.

Because the younger brother needed money for his illness, their parents sold the sister.

If Alice weren’t at the Magic Academy, she would have been the one sold this time.

If she hadn’t returned today by chance, she wouldn’t have known her sister was being taken away.

She begged them not to sell her sister; she could drop out of the Magic Academy.

But they said...

”It was so hard to get into the Magic Academy, and we’re paying such high tuition fees, and now you say you won’t go? Do you know what kind of place that is? It’s the Magic Academy. Once you graduate, you’ll be someone important. We’re counting on you, and you say you’re not going? If I hear you say that again, I’ll break your legs!”

Families like theirs always hope their children can awaken magical talent.

Even though they pay high tuition fees initially, once they get through it, and after graduation, they’ll be magicians, respected by others.

So Alice’s parents would never let her drop out.

”I can’t let them sell my sister!”

Alice wanted to continue chasing, but the pain in her ankle spread, causing her to stumble and almost fall.

Chuzheng gave her a supporting glance: ”How can you chase like this?”

Alice: ”...”

After a long while, Alice covered her face and cried bitterly.

Why is she so useless?

Even after learning magic, it’s of no use.

Chuzheng pondered whether, if she handled this matter, she could get a Thank-You Card.

Based on her usual pattern, she should be able to.

After all, she didn’t do much that day, and Alice gave her one.

But this matter sounded a bit troublesome...

Thank-You Card.

Trouble.

These two options flashed continuously before Chuzheng’s eyes.

Chuzheng’s carriage was stopped on the main road. There were many carriages passing by, causing congestion, and someone was impatiently urging them to move.

Chuzheng furrowed her brow slightly, half-supporting Alice into the carriage, and instructed the coachman to turn around and chase the carriage from earlier.

However, by this time, that carriage had long disappeared.

”Stop crying.”

The sound of Alice’s sobbing made Chuzheng very impatient.

”Am I... am I really that useless?”

”You know it already, so why ask?”

Alice became even more upset, choking up: ”Thank you... you can let me off now, I have to find my sister.”

She can’t just give up like this.

She must rescue her sister.

Chuzheng ignored her request and asked: ”Do you know who they sold your sister to?”

Alice didn’t understand what Chuzheng meant by this question, but she answered honestly: ”I didn’t hear.”

When she returned, those people were dragging her sister out, and she was quickly shoved into a carriage.

”...”

Chuzheng said irritably: ”What do you know?”

Might as well go back to sleep.

What’s the point of saving people?

I should be a couch potato; saving people isn’t a task for a big shot like me.

Chuzheng’s tone was so fierce that Alice was frightened, teary-eyed, and replied, ”I... I remember there was a marking on their carriage.”

Chuzheng took out a feather pen and paper from the carriage, telling Alice to draw it.

Alice held the pen cautiously, asking: ”You... are you going to help me?”

Chuzheng gave her a sidelong glance: ”Why else would I be doing nothing right now?”

Alice shivered at Chuzheng’s gaze, nervously lowered her head, and quickly drew a mark on the paper.

Alice’s drawing skills were average, and after finishing, she handed it to Chuzheng with both hands.

Would she... really help her?

This was Alice’s thought at the moment. She knew about Xue Laiya, but ever since that incident... she had changed somehow.

People at the academy no longer dared to bully her.

Besides, she always gave off a fierce vibe, a coldness that kept people at a distance.

Chuzheng didn’t recognize the mark, so she lifted the carriage curtain and asked the coachman outside.

”This is the Elvish family’s mark,” the coachman indeed recognized it and replied, ”Miss, these people deal in black market business. Why are you asking about this?”

The Elvish family wasn’t one of the Three Great Magic Families, but you can’t underestimate them.

The Elvish family isn’t interested in those fancy titles; they’re dedicated to making money, more money.

On the Western Continent, legal or illegal, the Elvish family is involved in both.

After listening, Chuzheng drew a conclusion: with money, anything can be settled.

”Do you know how to find them?”

The coachman was surprised: ”Miss, you want to find them?”

”Is it difficult?”

”No... it’s not that.” It’s not a matter of difficulty, it’s... a matter of life.

The people of the Elvish family don’t care about rules; one wrong move and you could end up dead.

Although there’s order in this world, in most cases, when someone gets killed, nobody really bothers to investigate.

Especially for those without power or influence, dying is like discarding a rag, thrown away without a trace.

”If it’s not difficult, take me to find them.”

”...”

-

The Elvish family had shops in the city; they weren’t hard to find. Based on that mark, they could be easily spotted.

Alice also heard the coachman’s words, and she had heard some rumors about the Elvish family from others.

If it weren’t for her sister motivating her, she wouldn’t have dared to stand outside the shop now.

Chuzheng, as if nothing was wrong, examined the main entrance, then pushed the door open and went in.

”Xue...”

Alice didn’t dare call out, nervously following her in.

From the outside, the shop didn’t look large, but inside was a different world, with a decor style reminiscent of a palace.

Alice was stunned by the environment after entering. She always thought the academy was lavish enough...

”How can I help you two lovely young ladies?”

A well-dressed young man came over, placing his right hand on his chest, slightly bending down, elegant and courteous.

Alice, with her pale face, took a step back.

”Huh...” The young man tilted his head in confusion: ”Did I scare this lovely young lady?”

”No...” Alice replied, her voice as soft as a mosquito.

In the past, when she looked at those luxurious shops from afar, the people inside always looked at her with disdainful eyes, never speaking to her in this tone and attitude.

”That’s good.” The young man smiled: ”What are you here to buy? I can introduce you to some items.”

This lavishly decorated shop sold clothes.

Unlike in Alice’s impression, where clothing stores were packed with items, this place had only a few pieces of clothing.

The displayed clothes were like precious exhibits, sealed in transparent display cases, impossible to touch.

”Something special,” Chuzheng had no interest in these items: ”I need to buy a person.”

The young man showed no sign of surprise, still smiling as he reminded: ”Lovely young lady, that price would be very high, are you sure?”

”I have money.” If nothing else, she had money.
