Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1696: Chapter 1696: Born in Solitude (10)

After all the students entered the classroom, the school principal accompanied a man out of another office building.

”Mr. Sang, once the school arranges the right people, we’ll notify you. Does that work for you?”

The man responded casually, ”Mm.”

The principal escorted the man to the school entrance, exchanged a few pleasantries with him, and watched him leave.

The man dressed casually and a bit unkempt, but he had a strikingly handsome face that could still pull off that artist’s disheveled charm no matter how he dressed.

The principal sighed.

We’re all human; why is there such a big difference?

-

”I heard our school is making a promotional video, and they need students from several classes.”

”That won’t involve us; we’re in the senior class.”

”That’s true...”

Chuzheng woke up and heard people behind her discussing the promotional video. She turned to look at her deskmate, but the seat was empty and she didn’t know where he was.

She sat up, leaned back on the desk, and listened intently to the gossip behind her.

”I think they might pick the freshmen; they have the most free time.”

”I kind of wish I could go back to being a freshman. Life is tough now; it’s been ages since I woke up naturally.”

”Yeah, no kidding...”

The conversation shifted to academics, and Chuzheng immediately lost interest, lying back down with a small pout.

”Knock, knock...”

Just as Chuzheng lay down, someone knocked on her desk.

She turned her face slightly, resting her head on her arms, and looked outside.

Bai Dongai pushed a cup of milk tea over, chuckling, ”See? I’m the best buddy, saying I’ll buy you one and then I do.”

Chuzheng: ”...”

I don’t need it, but thank you.

”Oh, and don’t leave after school; Old Tan says he needs us for something.”

”What for?”

”Not sure, probably something academic.” Bai Dongai didn’t care much, ”What else could he want besides that?”

Old Tan actually wasn’t calling them for academic reasons this time.

It was about filming the school’s promotional video.

”We’re so busy with our studies, we don’t have time. Teacher Tan, find someone else.” Bai Dongai immediately refused without even considering.

He’d squeezed out some time for basketball; there was no way he could let it be taken away!

Absolutely not!

Even top students have limits!

Teacher Tan looked distressed, ”Exactly, I told the school that too. But the principal said you both have great grades and excellent images, perfect to represent the school, so they insisted on including you.”

Teacher Tan paused, ”Don’t worry, I already told the principal your studies are most important right now, so you only need to take a few photos. You won’t have to participate in other activities; it’s very simple.”

Without waiting for Chuzheng and Bai Dongai to refuse, Teacher Tan quickly added, ”Alright, you can go back now.”

Chuzheng: ”...”

Bai Dongai: ”...”

Other schools wish they could make students study during eating, sleeping, and bathroom breaks.

But here, you’re letting students take time to film a video?

Are you too trusting of the top students’ grades or too trusting of the photographers...

Photographers!

The metaphorical light bulb in Chuzheng’s mind suddenly lit up.

Right after the King’s Account sent out the task, the school comes up with this, there’s a 90% chance it’s related.

”Are you really going to do it?” Bai Dongai’s face showed his reluctance.

Chuzheng remained expressionless, ”Teacher Tan has already decided, are you going to refuse?”

”...”

Old Tan has this skill... whenever he wants you to do something, he’ll give you the task and then disappear.

Apart from class time, don’t even think about finding him.

-

The promotional video needed quite a few students, but they were all selected from freshmen and sophomores, unrelated to the seniors.

As soon as class ended, the playground was full of students practicing.

The school even spent a big amount on a drone, showing how much they valued this promotional video.

The rehearsals had nothing to do with Chuzheng and Bai Dongai; nobody called them.

Until two weeks later, during a study session, Old Tan came to get them to go practice briefly.

The other students in the video needed to walk in formation, but Chuzheng and Bai Dongai didn’t; they had more freedom as long as they stayed within normal boundaries.

In the group, Chuzheng spotted Lu Qian.

Lu Qian froze, probably not expecting Chuzheng to be in the video as well.

”Are Lu Chuzheng and Bai Dongai going to film with us?” a curious student asked.

”I hadn’t heard anything...”

”But they really complement each other, like the Golden Boy and Jade Girl, and they’re both top students.”

”Bai Dongai is so handsome!”

Bai Dongai, a boy like him—good grades, good looks—he’s exactly the kind of dream boyfriend teenage girls secretly wish for.

Lu Qian had heard people talk about Bai Dongai before, but this was the first time she had seen him so close.

”Qianqian, isn’t he handsome?”

Lu Qian’s excited friend nudged her with an elbow.

At Lu Qian’s old school, there were hardly any good-looking boys; most were rather drab, yet overly confident, like a bunch of clowns.

Bai Dongai was the kind of campus idol with the protagonist aura that you’d see in dramas.

”He is very handsome.” Lu Qian’s heart rate quickened, but when she glanced at the person beside Bai Dongai, her mood dampened. She asked her friend, ”Are he and Lu Chuzheng dating?”

”I don’t think so.” Her friend shook his head, ”Their relationship is just pretty good.”

Lu Qian stared at the two, lost in thought.

”Everyone, stand properly!”

The teacher instructed everyone to return to their initial positions, and Lu Qian was dragged back into line by her friend.

They’d been rehearsing for two weeks and were almost proficient.

Chuzheng and Bai Dongai hadn’t participated previously, now they had to be in the front. The first few times, there were quite a few issues.

But as they learned the steps and practiced a few times, it became easier.

”Chuzheng, smile a bit!” The principal made a smiling gesture with his hands on his cheeks.

”I can’t.” Chuzheng maintained her cold expression.

”...”

The principal was taken aback, glanced at Bai Dongai, who was smiling like a blooming flower, and decided to change tactics.

Bai Dongai liked to smile, so just let him smile.

The rehearsals had their issues, but they weren’t major and were quickly resolved.

After all, Old Tan said he wouldn’t take up too much of their time, so after a while, he instructed the principal to let the students go.

The filming was scheduled for the weekend.

For the sake of possibly receiving a Good Person Card, Chuzheng resisted the urge to strike.

-

Weekend.

Chuzheng strolled over to the school. Bai Dongai came to a screeching halt on his bike beside her, angrily shouting, ”Deskmate, didn’t I tell you to wait for me? Why did you go ahead again!! Are my texts free or something?”

”Did you send one?” Chuzheng asked innocently. ”I didn’t see it.”

Bai Dongai: ”...”

After a long time, Bai Dongai managed to squeeze out a few words, ”Did I offend you somehow?”
