Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1228: Chapter 1228: Born Singer (Part 8)

Chuzheng walked out of the banquet, and although it hadn’t ended yet, there were quite a few reporters outside. She didn’t leave from there but slipped out through the back door.

Only a few cars were sparsely parked at the back, and the area was quite desolate.

”Damn it! What’s wrong with me having a few drinks? What’s it to you? Haven’t I given you money to spend?”

Suddenly, a shout erupted as a man dragged a woman in a rough manner, walking towards this direction.

”You bastard!” The woman cried while cursing, ”I stay home and take care of your son and your parents, while you keep another woman outside, you...”

Slap—

The woman was hit with a slap by the man.

”You should take a good look at yourself! Look at that face of yours, do you still have the nerve to cause a scene with me? I’m spending money to keep you, so isn’t it your duty to take care of the kid and my parents?”

Chuzheng watched from the side, seemingly not intending to do anything.

[Miss...]

I know, I know.

It’s just about being a good person!

All for the Good Person Card!

Be... a good person!

Whew!

Chuzheng flipped her hand, and a wooden stick appeared. She walked over to the man who was hitting the woman and raised the stick, hitting him with it.

The woman shrieked in fright, looking terrified at the unexpected assailant.

Chuzheng used the stick to support herself: ”It’s okay now.”

-

Half an hour later.

Chuzheng sat seriously in a certain relevant department, facing two civil servants questioning her.

Next to her was the frightened woman, crying pitifully.

One young officer asked Chuzheng, ”Why did you hit someone?”

Chuzheng replied confidently, ”That man was hitting her, isn’t it a good deed for me to intervene?”

The young officer twitched his lips, ”You can’t just hit people even if you’re doing a good deed! You’ve beaten him up that bad...”

Lucky for you that they aren’t suing you, calling it a good deed?

The young officer held back, ”Can you tell us what happened?”

Chuzheng briefly recounted the incident, emphasizing it as a good deed.

But the woman nevertheless said Chuzheng was meddling in their affairs, stating it was a spat between her and her husband and had nothing to do with an outsider, suddenly rushing in and hitting someone, causing a scene.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Bastard, see this!!

This is what happens when you let me do something good!

[...] Doing a good deed and getting such bad luck, what can I do?

Chuzheng paid the fine and left in frustration, while the woman continued crying, with the marks of being hit by the man still visible on her face.

Chuzheng made a decision silently.

[What?] King’s Account was curious.

From now on, I absolutely shouldn’t intervene in issues between couples for good deeds!

[...] What am I to say about this? Can’t you learn from the girl next door and be more positive, Sister?

-

A day later, Mr. Zheng called Sheng Yan and arranged to meet at a teahouse, bringing the contract along.

Sheng Yan took to heart what Chuzheng had said and read through the contract carefully, but Mr. Zheng seemed unwilling to let him examine it closely.

”If you’re going to sign, do it quickly. I have a ton of things to handle at the company and no time to waste here. I’ve been running back and forth for your case...”

”I want to look it over carefully...”

Sheng Yan insisted on reading the entire contract, but Mr. Zheng wouldn’t allow it.

”I don’t have time to sit with you and go through it. Such a big company, do you think we’d trick you?” Mr. Zheng was somewhat annoyed, threatening him verbally, ”If you don’t sign, I’m leaving. This opportunity wasn’t easy to get for you, if you don’t cherish it, don’t blame anyone else.”

With that, he gathered the contract with intentions to leave.

Expecting Sheng Yan to stop him, but the young man just watched without making any motion to stop him.

Mr. Zheng found himself in an awkward position and eventually gritted his teeth and left. But even as he walked out of the store, Sheng Yan didn’t call him back.

If Mr. Zheng wouldn’t let him see the contract, then it definitely had issues.

If it hadn’t been for the encounter with that girl, he might really have signed it without a closer look...

Sheng Yan clenched his hands together tightly on the table.

-

A week later, Chuzheng finally received a call from Sheng Yan to arrange a meeting.

Sheng Yan hesitated: ”I... don’t have time this afternoon, could we meet tonight?”

”Mm. Do you need me to pick you up?”

”...No need.”

After agreeing on a specific time, Sheng Yan hung up the phone.

Chuzheng arrived first, and Sheng Yan was five minutes late, carrying his guitar, likely having run, as he was panting heavily.

”Why are you running so fast?”

Sheng Yan was a bit uneasy, ”Was I late?”

”Have a seat.”

Sheng Yan set down his guitar and sat across from Chuzheng, ”I didn’t mean to be late, there was a bit of an emergency, so I had to run over...”

Chuzheng listened quietly as he explained. The waiter arrived with a cup of warm water, and she gestured for him to drink some.

”What would you like to drink?”

”N-no need,” Sheng Yan instinctively refused, ”Plain water is fine.”

Chuzheng didn’t press, propping her chin coolly, watching the young man across from her, ”You called me, so you’ve decided?”

The young man held the cup of warm water with both hands, ”...Don’t you want to listen to my music first?”

He set down the cup, pulled out his phone, and handed over the earphones to her, ”Do you want to listen first?”

Chuzheng: ”...”

How am I supposed to understand this crap!

She wasn’t very professional, but she could still tell whether it was good or not.

Sheng Yan watched nervously as she slowly pulled the earphones out, ”I think it’s fine.”

Sheng Yan saw a bit that Chuzheng didn’t quite understand, but those in this industry often didn’t understand music; they were business people, packaging artists to make money for themselves.

”Have you decided to sign with me?”

Sheng Yan turned the now cold cup of water repeatedly, finally nodding, ”Can I make a request?”

He observed Chuzheng’s expression, fearing she might be angered by his request.

However, the girl across from him nodded calmly, ”Mm.”

”Could you sign my band?”

Sheng Yan had formed a band, but since there was no prospect, it hadn’t disbanded technically, but everyone went their separate ways. Initially, they had some practice sessions, but now only Sheng Yan stubbornly held on, constantly seeking opportunities.

For Chuzheng, what mattered was the Good Person Card.

But if even the Good Person Card made this request, what could she say?

”Sure.”

Sheng Yan’s eyes lit up like lights illuminating the dark night.

The young man spoke with slight excitement, ”Thank you.”

Previously, he had signed with a few willing to sign him, but when they heard about the band, they all backed out in the end...

Chuzheng felt Sheng Yan’s thanks were somewhat premature.

When Sheng Yan signed with Mr. Zheng, he also proposed signing the band; however, in the end, Mr. Zheng only signed him alone, proving his bandmates didn’t come along.

”Gather everyone and give me a call, I’ll prepare contracts for you all.”

Sheng Yan nodded eagerly, resembling an adorable puppy, with those few strands of blue hair particularly striking.

”Let me treat you to a late-night snack.” Sheng Yan offered, ”I wanted to before, but I can’t treat you to anything too fancy, hopefully, you don’t mind...”

As he spoke, his voice trailed off.
