Chapter 954: Chapter 954: A Day as a Teacher (23)

Hospital.

Father Qiao had already woken up, and he notified his assistant.

”Chairman Qiao, who did this? Should we call the police?” The assistant was shocked, someone had beaten up Chairman Qiao like this.

Father Qiao had a bandage wrapped around his head.

”No need.” Father Qiao said, ”Check who sent me to the hospital.”

Although the assistant didn’t understand why he shouldn’t call the police, the boss’s words were the law.

”Alright.”

Father Qiao stopped him again: ”Call Qiao Lian.”

”Alright.”

The assistant readily agreed and hurried to handle the matter.

As he opened the door to the hospital room, there was a girl standing outside, seemingly about to knock.

The two made silent eye contact for a second, the girl calmly lowered her hand: ”Is Mr. Qiao here?”

The assistant glanced back, Father Qiao, having heard the noise, was also looking over.

”You are...”

”Qiao Lian’s homeroom teacher.”

The assistant was slightly stunned.

Why had the Crown Prince’s homeroom teacher come here?

”Come in.”

Father Qiao spoke, allowing Chuzheng inside.

The assistant couldn’t worry about the chaotic thoughts in his head and stepped aside to let Chuzheng in.

Father Qiao’s complexion looked quite bad.

Although he was middle-aged, Father Qiao still had handsome features, somewhat resembling Qiao Lian.

But Qiao Lian’s appearance was more refined, probably inherited from his mother.

Father Qiao scrutinized Chuzheng, his authoritative identity naturally invoking awe when he spoke: ”You are Qiao Lian’s homeroom teacher?”

”Yes.” Chuzheng stood there calmly.

”How do I address you?”

”Ruan Chuzheng.”

”Teacher Ruan.” Father Qiao nodded, feeling suspicious: ”Why are you here?”

He had just woken up and informed his assistant about his hospitalization.

How had a homeroom teacher found her way here so quickly?

”Qiao Lian is with me.” Chuzheng didn’t want to waste time with unnecessary words, she got straight to the point: ”I was the one who had you sent to the hospital.”

Father Qiao’s expression changed slightly, a deeper intensity in his eyes.

”I don’t want to meddle too much in matters between you and Qiao Lian. I will look after him from now on. If he wants to come back, I won’t stop him. If he doesn’t want to, it’s best you don’t send people to disturb him.”

Father Qiao frowned.

He understood each word separately, but strung together like that, it was hard to make sense of it.

Wasn’t this Qiao Lian’s homeroom teacher?!

Is this something a homeroom teacher should say?

”Teacher Ruan, what do you mean by this?”

”Mr. Qiao, you understand.” Chuzheng didn’t want to repeat herself, she placed a check down.

Father Qiao glance at the numbers on the check, his mouth twitched, and then a surge of anger rose to his head: ”Teacher Ruan, what is this supposed to mean!! Do you think I, Qiao, need this money? Qiao Lian is my son, what right does an outsider have to decide his whereabouts?”

Someone was trying to buy his son with money!

Father Qiao thought the person in front of him must be crazy.

”You’re overthinking it, Mr. Qiao. I’m merely proving that I can take good care of him and provide him a better life.”

”...”

Chuzheng tapped the check: ”As compensation for your medical expenses, if Mr. Qiao feels it’s insufficient, I can give more. But it’s best not to call the police.” Otherwise, the consequences would be severe.

Chuzheng’s final words were clearly a threat, not a plea.

Father Qiao: ”...”

Qiao Lian is his son!

His son!!

Chuzheng withdrew her hand, her tone indifferent: ”Mr. Qiao, I wish you a speedy recovery.”

”Stop right there!”

Father Qiao roared, pulling at his wound, the pain causing him to hiss.

However, Chuzheng didn’t pause in the slightest and directly left the hospital room.

The assistant hurried over: ”Chairman Qiao, are you alright?”

Father Qiao, in a fit of anger, tore up the check.

He suddenly thought of a joke from before about parents using money to send off their children’s suitors.

Now...

He was like that joke!!

If anyone should pay to send someone away, it should be him, how did it end up being that little girl instigating this!

”Find out about her for me.” Father Qiao held his head: ”Give me my phone.”

Father Qiao called Qiao Lian.

No one answered.

Once, twice, thrice...

”Hello.” The voice of a young man rang out.

Father Qiao restrained his anger: ”Qiao Lian, well done.”

”...”

No response from the other side.

Father Qiao gritted his teeth: ”Where are you? I’ll send someone to pick you up.”

”...”

Qiao Lian looked at the sticky note on the table, hesitating nearly thirty seconds before speaking: ”Are you alright?”

”I’m not dead, are you disappointed?” Father Qiao sneered.

The atmosphere between them was strange, nothing like father and son.

”...” Qiao Lian’s voice dropped, maliciously saying: ”Yes, I regret it, I should have made sure you were dead before leaving.”

”Scoundrel!”

Qiao Lian hung up, cutting off Father Qiao’s curses.

He threw down the phone, slowly wrapping his arms around himself, tightening, his legs curling up on the chair, his whole body curled up.

-

Father Qiao quickly obtained information on Chuzheng.

”She has a fund under her name, the funds stem from this fund.” The assistant said: ”The fund seems related to her parents, but it remains mysterious, and her parents are deceased, so exact details are scarce.”

The assistant could only trace Chuzheng’s financial origins.

Apart from those, it seemed invisible hands protected her information.

Additionally, the fund itself was mysterious; investigating through it wasn’t realistic.

Father Qiao looked at him: ”That’s all?”

”...” The assistant wiped off cold sweat: ”She just graduated and joined her current school afterward. This term is the first she’s taking care of Young Master’s class.”

”According to the school’s teachers, she wasn’t like this before... However, when she first joined, people weren’t familiar and didn’t know her well...”

Father Qiao had no interest in listening: ”What’s her relationship with Qiao Lian?”

”...”

The assistant really didn’t know.

According to the school, there was nothing special between Qiao Lian and Chuzheng, just a normal teacher-student relationship.

What Chuzheng did at school entirely fit a teacher’s role.

With a bang, Father Qiao slammed the file onto the assistant: ”Find out!”

The assistant dared not say no, picked up the file, and quickly left.

Outside the hospital room, the assistant breathed a sigh of relief.

Being with someone powerful was like being with a tiger.

-

Chuzheng carried her clothes back, Qiao Lian was curled up asleep on the sofa, one cheek pressed against his arm, showing only his profile.

The living room didn’t have air conditioning, the boy’s face slightly flushed, a faint sheen of sweat on his nose.

The top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his fair, delicate collarbones.

The shirt’s hem wasn’t very long, and after lying down, appeared even shorter.

The sofa was too small, his long legs slightly bent, revealing quite a bit.

Chuzheng walked to the sofa, looking down at him for a moment, reached out, and paused over his head, then lowered her hand.

Her fingers threaded through his soft hair, gently rubbing it twice.

The boy was startled awake, groggily opening his eyes.

Just in time to see Chuzheng casually retract her hand, standing behind the sofa, gazing at him calmly.
