Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 678: Chapter 678: Encountering Splendid Auspiciousness (12)

Yan Yu also stayed at the same hotel as Chuzheng, just one floor below hers, with a room number that only differed in the floor digit, while the rest of the digits were the same.

”It seems I am quite fated with Miss Jin.”

”Mm.”

”Then Miss Jin, good night.”

”...” Good Person Card isn’t wrong, is it? Isn’t it still afternoon?! Never mind, can’t expose the Good Person Card.

When Yan Yu got off the elevator, he slipped Chuzheng a slip of paper.

The elevator doors closed slowly.

Yan Yu’s exceptionally handsome face slowly faded from view.

Chuzheng glanced at the note, and upon exiting the elevator, casually tossed it into the trashcan.

Once she got back to her room, however, she efficiently added the number from the slip into her contact list, simply labeling it with the neatly written name: Yan Yu.

Chuzheng played hooky in the afternoon, idling the time away in her room.

Around nine in the evening, just after Chuzheng had taken a shower, Yan Yu called her.

”Miss Jin, sorry to disturb you.” The other end of the line was very quiet, with only the pleasant sound of a man’s voice.

Chuzheng was blunt: ”If you know it’s disturbing, why call me?”

And she seemed to have never given him her number, had she?

Where did the little thing get it?

”...” Yan Yu was silent for a few seconds: ”I think I left two books in Miss Jin’s car.”

”Oh.” Not waiting for the person on the other end to speak, Chuzheng continued: ”Go get them yourself, come to my room for the keys.”

Yan Yu was silent again.

”Then please trouble Miss Jin to open the door for me.”

Yan Yu arrived quickly, and Chuzheng handed him the car keys.

The girl had just showered, her body still emanating a moist scent, with wet hair dripping water, the droplets rolling down from her collarbone to her clothing.

Yan Yu shifted his gaze: ”I’ll bring the keys back to Miss Jin in a moment.”

True to his word, Yan Yu quickly returned the keys, holding the two books in his hand.

This time, Chuzheng could clearly see the title of one book—the Human Anatomy Atlas.

The other was in English, seemingly related to criminal investigation; not much was shown, and Chuzheng did not see the full title.

Yan Yu handed the keys to Chuzheng: ”Thank you for the trouble.”

”Mm.” Chuzheng noticed he remained: ”Anything else?”

Yan Yu didn’t hesitate: ”May I come in and sit for a while?”

Chuzheng loosened her grip on the door, turning to walk inside.

Yan Yu took her action as a silent permission for him to enter.

He stepped in, closed the door behind him, and with a slight hook of his finger, he locked the door.

Yan Yu placed the books on the small table, casually surveying the room: ”Miss Jin must be a local, right?”

”Mm.”

”Then why stay at a hotel?”

”Which rule says locals can’t stay in a hotel?”

”It’s just a bit odd.” Yan Yu paused: ”Does Miss Jin not have any other relatives?”

”I will have soon.”

Yan Yu’s brows knitted slightly.

The information he held stated her parents had both passed away.

And there were no other relatives... at least none that she was in contact with.

Chuzheng poured him a glass of water, hesitating for a moment between putting medicine into it and not. In the end, she chose not to and turned to hand it to him.

Yan Yu took it, his fingertips accidentally brushing the back of Chuzheng’s hand. The girl’s skin was exceptionally soft and delicate. The warm, yellow light in the room struck her fair skin, creating an ambiance that was somewhat ambiguous.

Yan Yu’s eyes darkened slightly, his fingers curled subtly, securing the glass before taking a carefree sip.

Chuzheng sat across from him, her long, straight legs casually placed to the side, exuding an aura of authority.

With her arms wrapped around herself, she looked directly at him without evasion or flinching: ”Aren’t you a local?”

”I am.” Yan Yu held the glass, the tall man sitting in the small sofa seemed slightly inconvenienced: ”But I moved to City B when I was very young.”

”You work in City B?” Do I still have to go to City B to play the Good Person Card? No, I need to trick him into coming here.

”Hmm,” Yan Yu seemed very relaxed, ”I might stay for a while.”

”Oh.”

Yan Yu and Chuzheng chatted casually, and the atmosphere was indeed harmonious.

”May I use the restroom?”

”Sure.”

Yan Yu got up; as he passed by Chuzheng, a faint scent of men’s cologne wafted from his body. The fragrance slowly drifted to Chuzheng’s nose, and she thought it smelled delightful, intoxicating like the man himself.

Click—

The restroom door closed.

Chuzheng poked at her phone, and three minutes later, Yan Yu came out of the restroom.

He stood behind Chuzheng, and his voice carried from afar.

”Miss Jin, may I ask you a question?”

Chuzheng didn’t turn around, just responded with a hum.

Yan Yu’s voice was closer now, ”Did you love your ex-boyfriend, sir?”

”No love.”

Yan Yu’s voice was even closer, right behind her, ”Then why were you with him?”

”Who hasn’t been blind in love when they’re young?” It was the original owner who was blind, not me. Ah, but I can’t shake off this pot.

Chuzheng sensed that fragrance again, and Yan Yu’s voice resonated beside her ear, low and deep, ”I haven’t. Seems a bit unfair, doesn’t it?”

The last few words were a very soft murmur.

Almost inaudible, what he said.

The man’s voice wasn’t as calm as before, now tinged with a hint of wickedness.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees, and Chuzheng felt a bit cold.

That chilliness came from the man behind her.

Just as she was about to turn around, an unfamiliar ringtone broke the eerily tense atmosphere.

Yan Yu’s fingers moved slightly, and he put away the Scalpel, then took out his phone, ”Hello?”

A minute later, Yan Yu hung up the phone. He stepped back a few paces, and his tone returned to normal, ”Miss Jin, I had a very pleasant evening, hope to chat again next time.”

Chuzheng got up to see him out, but Yan Yu walked ahead, blocking her view as he opened the door, ”Get some rest early, good night.”

Chuzheng stood at the door, watching Yan Yu leave.

She pondered and asked King’s Account, ”What did he want to do to me just now?”

[Sister, he might have wanted to... kill you?] King’s Account analyzed weakly, [The Good Person Card is almost unable to suppress the urge to kill, and you are obviously his prey right now. Even if he didn’t want to kill you, he definitely had other ideas in mind. So, sister, you really need to try hard to save the Good Person Card!!]

Chuzheng: ”...”

This little thing is something else!

Is it trying to reach the heavens?

[Sister, he also installed surveillance on your car!] King’s Account continued to remind her.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Would it still be in time for me to drag him back here and tie him up?

[Sister, I suggest you shouldn’t, after all, this is a hotel.] King’s Account trembled.

”You have a point,” Chuzheng agreed.

Before King’s Account could feel relieved, it heard Chuzheng continue.

”Send me a mission, I’ll go buy a building.”

[...] Although it should be happy to hear this request, it just couldn’t feel happy at all right now!

Chuzheng ended her friendly conversation with King’s Account and returned to the room, only to find that Yan Yu had once again not taken those two books with him.

The first time, they were left in her car.

Now, they’re left here again.

Yan Yu didn’t seem like a forgetful person, yet such mistakes happened twice.

this little thing has quite the set of tactics!
