Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 679: Chapter 482: A World War About Faith

Raylo’s gaze was drawn to something on the desk by the window.

It was a piece of parchment, spread open.

Beside it lay a feather pen, the ink on its tip long since dried.

He walked over, and the two Legendary Mages and Master Barnaby followed.

Raylo reached out and carefully brushed the dust off the parchment.

On the parchment, a passage of recorded history was written in a fluid script.

The writing had faded to a grayish color with age, but it was still clearly legible.

”...Regarding the Divine Spirit who claimed to be ’passing through’ this world, the Alliance Council’s final decision was to refuse him. We cannot accept a ’god’ who requires the ’faith’ of believers to sustain his own existence. We will not allow him to spread his illusory doctrines in our world, a world built on truth and knowledge. We believe that Power comes from within, from exploring the world’s Power of Origin, not from empty prayers.”

”This was three years ago. That Divine Spirit, who called himself the ’Child of Light,’ left quietly after being refused, and we heard nothing more from him. We all thought the matter was over.”

”However, one year ago, a strange phenomenon in the sky made us realize that we might have been... wrong.”

”Two Suns in the sky.”

”A new ’Sun’ appeared in the firmament without any warning, coexisting with our original Sun. At first, everyone thought it was just a rare magical spectacle. But soon, the Astrologers of the Alliance Council noticed something was wrong.”

”The world’s will... is in turmoil.”

”That new Sun is fighting our world’s Sun for dominance over this world! It is frantically plundering the Power of Origin that belongs to our world!”

”Only then did we have a rude awakening. The ’god’ we refused was no mere passing traveler. His departure was not an act of giving up, but preparation for... a long-planned invasion.”

”The twelve elders of the Alliance Council, the twelve most powerful Legendary Mages in our world, have decided to join forces and take the initiative. We cannot sit idly by and watch our world be devoured by another Sun.”

”Our target is the new Sun.”

”We... are going to slay a god.”

”This may be a journey of no return. I leave this letter here in the hope that if... if we fail, future generations will know the origin of this disaster.”

”Remember, that new Sun is the Palace where a Divine Spirit calling himself the ’Light Deity’ resides...”

Here, the letter came to an abrupt end.

The last few words were messy, the pen strokes betraying the writer’s extreme turmoil. It was as if one could feel his grim determination to march to his death through the writing itself.

The entire study fell into a dead silence.

Only the massive ”Eternal Guardian” array continued to pulse with a faint, sigh-like light.

When he saw the words ”Two Suns in the sky,” Raylo’s pupils contracted sharply!

An icy chill shot up from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head!

Another scene uncontrollably surfaced in his mind.

It was in the Giant Dragon Realm.

On that vast and ancient land, two Suns also hung high in the sky!

He recalled Grand Elder Gu, and the complex, solemn look that had flashed through his murky dragon eyes as he left Black Stone Territory.

He recalled the Great Elder’s meaningful words.

”The storm has arrived. Both your world and ours are already in its midst.”

’So that’s what he meant by the ”storm”!’

When his gaze fell upon the parchment again, landing on the two words ”Light Deity.”

A bold yet incredibly rational guess began to grow wildly in his mind!

’Perhaps... perhaps the one invading this world is the same Light Deity from their own world, the one who claims to want to save humanity and spread light and love!’

’Because this world refused his demand to spread his faith.’

’So he chose the most direct and cruelest method.’

’Invasion and destruction!’

The thought made Raylo’s breathing turn ragged.

The storm raging in Raylo’s heart would not calm for a long time.

Two Suns in the sky, the Light Deity, the Giant Dragon Realm, Grand Elder Gu...

Countless clues, in this moment, seemed to be strung together by an invisible thread, sketching out a vast and terrifying black web before his eyes, a web that shrouded infinite planes of existence.

And the Light Deity was the greedy spider sitting at the very center of that web.

This shattered Doomsday World was just one of its victims.

’Then, what about the Giant Dragon Realm?’

’Did Grand Elder Gu’s hurried departure and his warning that ”the storm has arrived” mean that the Giant Dragon Realm was also about to follow in this world’s footsteps?’

An intense sense of crisis washed over Raylo like an icy tide, submerging him in an instant.

He had always thought the Light Deity was merely a threat to the Continent.

But now it seemed his perspective had been far too narrow.

This was not a war of a single territory, a single Kingdom, or even a single Continent.

This was a war between civilizations, a war between worlds!

”Raylo, my boy, what’s wrong?”

Master Wendel’s voice pulled Raylo back from his chaotic thoughts.

The Legendary Mage had noticed something was amiss with Raylo. He frowned as he looked at Raylo’s face, which had instantly turned pale, and his violently contracted pupils.
