Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 538: Chapter 413: A Fleeting Glimpse of the Abyssal Plane

No reminder was necessary. The moment they felt the terrifying spatial fluctuation, every member of the party had already frozen in place, their faces etched with horror.

The Hill Giants instinctively formed a defensive circle, tightly shielding Raylo in the center.

They raised their Double-Headed Hammers, vigilantly watching the disturbance in the sky.

Sun let out a low growl, its golden eyes filled with solemnity.

It could clearly sense an aura emanating from the rift—an aura filled with destruction and chaos, one that made even its heart race in fear.

The rift in the sky was still expanding.

What was initially only a few meters long became, in the span of a few short breaths, a colossal scar thousands of meters in length that stretched across the entire sky.

Through the massive rift, Raylo caught a fleeting glimpse of the scene on the other side.

It was a world filled with Flame and sulfur.

The sky was dark red.

The land was cracked Scorched Earth, with rivers of flowing magma.

Countless menacing volcanoes spewing black smoke stood like the fangs of a Demon at the ends of the earth.

The Abyss!

The name instantly flashed through Raylo’s mind.

Without a doubt, the other end of this spatial rift connected to the legendary homeland of countless Demons, the very source of chaos and evil.

The very instant he made out the Abyssal scene, a roar filled with brutality and madness echoed from the other side of the rift.

The sound seemed capable of tearing a person’s soul apart.

Immediately after, a scene filled with violence and destruction appeared before his eyes.

Within the Abyssal sea of flowing magma, two colossal, god-like figures were locked in a brutal, world-ending slaughter.

One of them was a pitch-black humanoid creature over a hundred meters tall.

It had a pair of enormous, bat-like fleshy wings, and atop its head were two menacing, spiraling horns that shot toward the sky.

Its body was covered in a carapace as hard as Obsidian, and through the gaps in the shell flowed dark red, magma-like patterns.

In its hand, it wielded a giant War Axe also forged from Abyssal Demon Iron, burning with a raging Demon Flame.

A Catastrophe Level Abyssal Demon!

And its opponent was an equally terrifying existence, not to be underestimated.

It was a Giant Dragon over a thousand meters long, its entire body covered in scales that burned with Flame.

Its form was different from any Giant Dragon Raylo had ever seen.

Its body was stockier, its limbs more powerful, and a row of sharp Bone Spikes grew from its head like a crown.

An Abyssal Demon Dragon!

A top-tier Giant Dragon that existed only in the Abyss, subsisting on Flame and sulfur.

At this moment, these two terrifying creatures, both having reached the Catastrophe Level, were engaged in the most primitive and bloody struggle in that sea of magma.

The Abyssal Demon swung its War Axe, and every chop sent monstrous waves surging through the sea of magma.

The Abyssal Demon Dragon, in turn, opened its cavernous maw and spewed destructive Dragon Breath hot enough to melt steel.

Every one of their collisions triggered a violent explosion.

The violent energy shockwaves even traveled through the massive spatial rift into the world where Raylo and the others were.

The Hill Giants were so oppressed by the pressure they could barely breathe. Some of the weaker ones were even forced to a knee, their faces deathly pale.

Fortunately, the spatial rift in the sky was not stable.

Like an overstrained wound, after expanding to its limit, it began to rapidly shrink.

After lasting for less than a minute, the colossal scar spanning the sky slowly sealed shut amidst a violent spatial distortion.

The view of the Abyss vanished.

The suffocating, terrifying pressure vanished along with it.

The sky returned to its azure blue.

It was as if that world-ending scene had just been an illusion.

But everyone was drenched in a cold sweat.

Raylo gasped for breath, his back completely soaked in cold sweat.

The shock from what he had just witnessed was simply too great.

After calming down, Raylo suddenly realized something.

”This place... The space here is very unstable.”

Raylo muttered to himself, gazing at the now-peaceful sky.

’It’s not just here. The space in the entire Black Stone Mountain Range is unstable.’

’The system reports that occasionally mentioned spatial fluctuations in the Black Stone Mountain Range, the spatial rift leading to the Giant Dragon Realm, and now this chance encounter with a rift that tore open thousands of meters of space—it all pointed to the same conclusion.’

Raylo’s mind was filled with questions.

But now was clearly not the time to be pondering these things.

He composed himself, glanced at the Giants below who were still shaken, and announced in a clear voice.

”Continue forward!”

The party began to move again.

At dusk on the fourth day, the setting sun dyed the clouds on the horizon a magnificent orange-red.

The expedition had finally reached its destination.

A solitary black volcano, standing in the middle of a vast wilderness, appeared in everyone’s view.

It wasn’t particularly tall, but its silhouette was exceptionally steep, like a black sword poised to pierce the heavens.

At this moment, the volcano, which had been dormant for a thousand years, was no longer peaceful.

Plumes of thick black smoke, tinged with the smell of sulfur, were drifting up from the crater at the summit, gathering in the sky to form an ominous, grayish-black cloud.

The closer they got to the volcano, the higher the air temperature became.

The ground also grew scorching hot; stepping on it even produced a burning sensation.

The surrounding vegetation had long since vanished.

In its place was cracked, dark red Scorched Earth and bizarrely shaped black rocks that had been baked by the high temperature.

A volatile and oppressive aura permeated the entire world.

”Looks like we’ve arrived just in time.”

Raylo muttered to himself, riding Baofeng and hovering in mid-air as he watched the now-restless volcano.

’He could vaguely sense it. An incomparably pure and scorching Solar Power was slowly awakening deep within the volcano, like an ancient Giant Beast about to break free from its cage.’

”Kado!”

Raylo commanded, ”Find a safe place at the foot of the mountain and make camp!”

”Yes, My Lord!”

Under Kado’s command, the Hill Giants began to clear a space and set up a temporary camp about five kilometers from the volcano.

Sun, however, seemed rather impatient.

It circled the volcano again and again, its golden eyes filled with longing.

It could feel that the Power, which shared its origin, was calling to it.

Night soon fell.

A crescent moon hung high in the sky, but its light was so obscured by the thick cloud of volcanic ash rising from the crater that only a faint outline remained visible.

The entire world was plunged into dimness.

Only the blazing campfires in the Giant Legion’s camp and the faint, dark red glow from the volcano’s peak brought any light to this dead, silent world.

The Giants sat around the campfires, roasting Magical Beast Meat and talking in low voices.

Raylo, meanwhile, sat alone at the edge of the camp, leaning against a large rock and resting with his eyes closed.

Sun lay beside him, its huge head resting on its forepaws, its golden eyes staring unblinkingly at the distant volcano.

The night grew deeper.

Just when everyone thought the night would pass in oppressive tranquility, a sharp, brutal screech suddenly echoed from the direction of the volcano without warning.

The sound pierced the night, reverberating across the entire wilderness.

Raylo’s eyes snapped open.

He saw, silhouetted against the dark red glow of the volcano, a massive black shadow shoot up from the darkness at its base, soaring into the sky.
