Affinity: Chaos

1769  Crazy Father, Crazier Son!

Lucas, however, didnʼt have any plans of letting the Toads have the initiative in this matter. He wanted them to be fully into helping in this war. If he took a step back today and accommodated the Toad Clan Leader, thereʼs a chance that the Toad might want to withdraw if it sees that the battle wasnʼt going favorably for humans, and losing an ally in the middle of a war is no different from losing the said war. Since it had gotten to this, there was no point trying to use the friendly approach with these Toads. It might seem that he was being overbearing with his request, but the truth is, this is the only way he was sure that he could keep the Toads in check.

Sir Astarot looked in Lucasʼ direction, its eyes calm. It didnʼt even react to the Toads surrounding them, it believed the Toad Clan Leader wasnʼt dumb enough to attack him.

The old man from the Vaergahl Family moved closer to Lucas; in the end, they were both from the human race and in such a situation, standing with his race was the right call. This is a matter that involves the future of humans and even Magical Beasts, so the old man is fully in support of Lucasʼ words.

The Toad Clan Leader didnʼt expect Lucas to utter such a threat. It knew for a fact that the chances of them being able to successfully keep Lucas from leaving were almost nonexistent. Killing Grey will be very easy, but it couldnʼt afford to place the lives of its clansmen in danger. From Lucasʼ eyes, it could tell that he wasnʼt joking, and would most likely not try to exchange his life for Greyʼs.

”Boy, your father is willing to sacrifice you, are you willing to be that sacrifice?” The Toad turned its attention to Grey. It could already tell that it couldnʼt get through to Lucas, so it wanted to use the fear of death to force Grey into making his father take a step back.

Grey took a glance at his father, before moving forward from behind him, standing by his side, he tilted his head to the side and gave the Toad Clan Leader a smile that seemed to belong to someone who was ready to drag others to the pit of hell with him, ”The question isnʼt about if Iʼm willing to be used as a sacrifice, rather, itʼs if youʼre willing to cause the eternal damnation of your entire Clan?”

When the Toad Clan Leader heard Greyʼs words, it almost spat out blood. It was dumbstruck. It thought Lucas had a screwloose, but after hearing Grey speak about not caring if he died as long as he dragged it down with it, it was left speechless. Itʼs one thing for Lucas to threaten him; at least it knew Lucas could survive this event, but Grey, on the other hand, as long as they didnʼt handle this matter properly, heʼd most likely die here.

Initially, it thought that Grey would be scared of death, but after realizing that both father and son were psychopaths, it was stuck in a dilemma.

Even Sir Astarot and the old man from the Vaergahl Family were beyond stunned, not expecting Grey to have the same mindset as his father.

Grey didnʼt think his father not showing any signs of protecting him was an evil act. The truth in a situation like this is if his father was adamant about protecting him, then the Toads would have the initiative. After knowing the attitude the Toad Clan Leader had towards humans, he knew that he was a threat to them. The best thing his father could do was the words he just said, and that threat is naturally a form of deterrent. The reason Grey didnʼt think too much about the possibility of him dying here is that, if he couldnʼt protect himself here, heʼd rather die than allow his father to die under the attacks of these Toads.

The Toad using him to threaten his father made him develop some hostility towards the Toads. Not only that, but it also fueled his determination to grow stronger. If he were on the same cultivation stage as the Toad, it wouldnʼt dare to use him as the focal point of its negotiations.

It targeted Grey the moment it saw him. Even after Greyʼs father appeared, it still targeted Grey, hoping to use him as a means to retrain his father.

ʼIʼll kill it as long as I survive this.ʼ

Grey had already decided to kill the Toad, and he didnʼt do anything to hide it, as his intent to kill soared.

Lucas was shocked at the sudden development. But the shock only lasted for a second before a burst of laughter left his lips.

”Hahaha! Good boy! Good boy!”

Anyone present could hear the immense pride in Lucasʼ voice, but the thing that caught everyoneʼs attention was the killing intent that came with his voice. It was seemingly as if both father and son duo had decided that they would fight to the death with the Toads.

The Toad Clan Leader felt its mouth twitch repeatedly, unsure of what to do. Both father and son were escalating the matter. It had even taken a step back and was giving them hints that it didnʼt want to fight them. However, the duo werenʼt showing any signs of wanting to retreat; rather, they were blatantly showing that they wanted to kill it. As well as its clansmen.

”Humans! Do you think this King is afraid of you?!” The Toad Clan Leader could barely keep its temper in control any longer. This was the first time since it got to this level and someone threatened to kill it so blatantly. At least it could manage Lucasʼs threat. They were in the same cultivation stage, and even though it was way older, they could still be called equals. Greyʼs threat, on the other hand, is something it would not stand. How could a little boy threaten it, a King?! And it was even in his territory! This was the utmost disregard.
