Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Ancestral Spirit Position, The Strangeness in The Night

The thirteenth Ancestral Spirit Plaque had a clear line of text written on it.

”The Spirit Plaque of Ye Yun, the Thirteenth Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect.”

This Ancestral Spirit Plaque appeared extremely old, as though it had survived for quite a long time.

The writing was incredibly clear.

But as Big Black Horse looked at it, he felt a sense of dizziness, seemingly unable to fully make out the words.

”Little Cat... Quick, tell me if the name on that Ancestral Spirit Plaque is the Old Master’s?” Big Black Horse said in a trembling voice, pointing in a direction.

Big Black Cat, still busy observing the other Ancestral Spirit Plaques, immediately turned his attention to where Big Black Horse was pointing upon hearing his call.

When he clearly saw the words on the Ancestral Spirit Plaque, he was instantly shocked.

The Old Master’s name was actually written on it.

This was simply unbelievable.

Could it be that this place was truly another branch of the Dragon God Sect’s lineage? Why else would it have the Old Master’s name?

In this ancestral shrine, hundreds of Ancestral Spirit Plaques were nestled tightly together. They were possibly for all the past Sect Masters of the Dragon God Sect.

”Uncle Ma, we’ve made a major discovery this time! This Dragon God Sect is definitely another branch of our Dragon God Sect!” Big Black Cat’s eyes beamed as he spoke with excitement.

Big Black Horse nodded emphatically. He took a deep breath, and his inner emotions finally calmed.

Their clandestine investigation of this Dragon God Sect had yielded a truly immense reward.

If this low-grade major sect was indeed another branch of the Dragon God Sect, it would be an overwhelmingly joyous event for their Dragon God Sect.

Big Black Horse quickly fetched three incense sticks from a nearby stand, lit them, and bowed deeply towards these Ancestral Spirit Plaques with a very solemn expression.

Then he inserted the three incense sticks into the incense burner.

As a member of the Dragon God Sect himself, it was only natural for him to burn incense and express his heartfelt respect for these ancestors.

Big Black Cat followed suit and quickly did the same.

After burning the three incense sticks, he looked at Big Black Horse and asked, ”Uncle Ma, should we head back now?”

”What’s the rush?”

Big Black Horse didn’t seem to be in a hurry. It was now a certainty: this place was another branch of the Dragon God Sect’s lineage. But there was still plenty of time. He wasn’t keen on returning so quickly. Considering their three young masters were in Cultivation and the Old Master was in seclusion for a breakthrough, it was better to stay and see if they could find anything else.

After carefully exiting the ancestral shrine, Big Black Horse led Big Black Cat away.

Although this trip had yielded significant findings, Big Black Horse still decided to stay in this Dragon God Sect for a few more days.

Big Black Cat had no choice but to accompany his Uncle Ma.

Over the following days, the two of them turned this Dragon God Sect upside down but didn’t stumble upon any new clues.

By now, night had fallen, and darkness enveloped everything.

Big Black Horse stood on a mountain peak, gazing at the rolling mountain range, silently contemplating his next move.

He could actually return now. He and Big Black Cat had thoroughly combed every inch of this Dragon God Sect. But Big Black Horse felt a little unwilling to leave just yet. After all, his efficiency was too high; he had investigated the entire Dragon God Sect in less than a day.

”Uncle Ma, what are you looking at?” Big Black Cat stood beside him, noticing Uncle Ma’s furrowed brow, and asked softly.

”I’m looking at...”

Just as Big Black Horse spoke, his pupils suddenly constricted slightly, as if he had spotted something extraordinary.

His pale golden pupils could perceive things ordinary people couldn’t.

As night enveloped the land and the world plunged into pitch darkness, Big Black Horse was stunned to discover a faint black vapor slowly drifting out from along the mountain range.

This black vapor shrouded the entire sprawling mountain range of this Dragon God Sect.

”What is this?” Big Black Horse was shocked.

This black vapor seemed inexplicable. If not for his special pupils, particularly their unusual sensitivity to demonic and evil things, even an ordinary Eternal Realm Cultivator might not have been able to detect it.

”Uncle Ma, what did you see?” Big Black Cat stared around with wide eyes, but found nothing.

”I don’t know what it is either. I’ve never seen this thing before...” Big Black Horse muttered.

”Uncle Ma, then what should we do?” Big Black Cat looked bewildered, a hint of nervousness on his face.

Uncle Ma was already a great demon of the Eternal Realm. The fact that he said he’d never seen this thing meant it had to be extraordinary.

”Let’s not be hasty. We’ll observe the situation first,” Big Black Horse said in a deep voice, frowning as he gazed at the black vapor.

Big Black Cat nodded repeatedly.

The two of them stood on the mountain peak for the entire night, observing.

Only when the first hint of dawn appeared, like fish-belly white on the horizon, did Big Black Horse discover that the black vapor had naturally dispersed, seemingly returning underground.

”Interesting. Could there be something underground?” Big Black Horse mused to himself.

”Little Cat, let’s go underground and investigate...”

Big Black Horse gritted his teeth, grabbed Big Black Cat, transformed into a streak of black light, and plunged directly into the depths beneath the mountain range.

After descending tens of thousands of zhang underground, Big Black Horse discovered a massive formation emitting black light, blocking his path.

”So there really is something strange underground, huh?” Big Black Cat’s eyes widened as he stared at the great formation before them, feeling a sense of dread.

Suddenly, Big Black Horse punched towards the great formation.

BOOM!

The great formation boomed loudly and repelled Big Black Horse’s fist.

Big Black Horse was astonished. His punch hadn’t broken the great formation, which showed its considerable power.

Big Black Horse thought for a moment, and a small golden Sword suddenly appeared in his hand.

”This Sword...”

Big Black Cat, beside him, suddenly gasped.

He had once heard Uncle Ma mention it. The Old Master had once bestowed upon Uncle Ma a powerful strand of Rebirth Thunder, which had been transformed into this small golden Sword. This had to be it.

This small golden Sword was indeed terrifying. As Big Black Horse took it out, an indescribable aura emanated from it.

Big Black Cat felt his entire body tremble, as if he couldn’t bear to face the Sword.

Big Black Horse directly thrust the Little Sword into the great formation.

SHINK!

A small hole was immediately pierced through the great formation.

”HAHAHA!” Big Black Horse laughed, put away the small golden Sword, and taking Big Black Cat, transformed into a black ray of light, slipping through the small hole.

This small golden Sword, transformed from Rebirth Thunder, was truly formidable—hundreds of times stronger than his physical punch. He almost didn’t want to continue refining this small golden Sword. If used as a combat weapon, no one in the Eternal Realm would be his match.

After passing through the black great formation, the two entered a massive space.

It was dim all around, with only faint specks of starlight flickering.

A colossal Black Dragon lay sprawled on the ground, seemingly in a deep sleep.
