I Became the Villain Alpha's Omega (BL)

Soft afternoon sunlight spilled through the conservatory’s massive glass panels, wrapping the group of noble daughters in a warmth that felt far more welcoming than the atmosphere truly was. Exotic flora, imported from the warmest reaches of the continent, bloomed in vibrant hues of magenta and gold, filling the air with a sweet, heavy fragrance. At the center of this indoor paradise sat Iryna, surrounded by the elite young women of the capital.

With Philia having thoughtfully excused himself after his earlier greetings to give the young women their own private space, the atmosphere in the conservatory was completely relaxed. Aside from a few silent, attentive maids standing near the trimmed hedges to refill teacups, the room belonged entirely to the daughters of the empire’s highest nobility.

”It is truly an honor to finally welcome you in a more intimate setting, Your Highness,” Beatrice, a prominent marquis’s daughter, said as she gracefully poured a fresh cup of floral tea for Iryna. Her eyes practically shone with admiration. ”The stories of the Solaric Empire have fascinated the capital for years, but seeing your grace and poise in person... you truly represent the absolute pinnacle of royalty.”

”Indeed,” another noble daughter sighed, clasping her hands together in awe. ”And the rumors of your elemental control! We heard that the Solaric imperial bloodline can command the elements with such precision that it dictates your entire societal structure. To us, who rely strictly on our second genders, it sounds utterly magnificent. You must feel so incredibly powerful.”

Iryna took the delicate porcelain cup, a polite, flawless smile fixed firmly on her lips. ”You flatter me too much. In Solaric, our connection to the elements is simply a part of who we are, much like how you navigate the world through your instincts. It is a tool for governance and harmony, nothing more.”

”But speaking of unique structures,” Iryna replied smoothly, sipping her tea. ”I must admit, the social dynamics here are what truly intrigue me. The concept of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas ruling a court and balancing imperial power... it is entirely unique. I find myself quite eager to understand it deeper.”

The mention of the court’s core dynamics sparked immediate, giggling interest. The noble daughters took turns explaining the subtle nuances of presentation, pheromones, and high-society courting, answering Iryna’s questions. Iryna listened with genuine interest, smiling warmly as she charmed the girls while mentally taking note of every little detail about the empire.

Hoping to keep the casual, friendly momentum going, Iryna smiled warmly and thought back to her recent excursion. ”Everyone has been so welcoming. Just the other day, I had the pleasure of visiting the Valtrane estate and speaking with Lord Cherion. He certainly made quite an impression.”

The warmth in the conservatory vanished almost instantly the moment she mentioned Cherion and the Valtrane family.

The lively chatter ceased so abruptly it was as if someone had physically choked the room. Beatrice’s hand froze mid-air, the silver tea strainer rattling slightly against the porcelain rim. The smiles on the noble daughters’ faces went completely cold and stiff. Eyes darted nervously from side to side, and the sudden, heavy silence became thick enough to suffocate.

Iryna paused, her cup hovering near her lips. She blinked innocently, though her internal radar went on high alert. ”Is... something wrong? Did I say something inappropriate?”

Beatrice set the teapot down with a muted thud, her expression shifting into one of grave, anxious concern. She leaned across the table, her voice dropping into a tense, hurried whisper.

”Your Highness... forgive our reaction, but you must be incredibly careful. We simply worry for your safety. I must strongly advise you not to get close to that person. Cherion Antel... he is not a nice man at all.”

”Oh?” Iryna tilted her head, maintaining her facade of curiosity. ”He was actually quite polite during our conversation.”

”A snake can look beautiful until it bites, Your Highness,” another girl burst out, unable to contain herself. ”The things that man has done... he is utterly horrible! The entire capital knows of his cruelty. He treated Lord Philia terribly! Before the Crown Prince stepped in, Cherion used his position to torment and humiliate poor Lord Philia at every turn, flaunting his temper and making his life a living hell. He is a vicious, arrogant creature who doesn’t care who he hurts.”

”He is entirely right,” a third girl whispered harshly, nodding along. ”He is malicious, short-tempered, and impossible to reason with. He only cares about power and status.”

”Oh, come now. Let us not rewrite history completely.”

The sudden, sharp voice cut through the collective condemnation. The girls turned in shock toward Catherine, a daughter of a wealthy Count, who was calmly swirling her tea. Unlike the others, her expression wasn’t stiff with fear, it was tinged with a trace of dry amusement.

”Catherine!” Beatrice hissed. ”What are you saying?”

”I am only saying what anyone with an ounce of sense thinks,” Catherine replied, looking directly at Iryna. ”While Lord Cherion’s temper is well-documented, people often forget the circumstances that drove him to it. Anyone would go completely crazy if someone else snatched their fiancé away from right under their nose. He was publicly humiliated when the Crown Prince personally broke off their engagement. A little resentment is only natural, wouldn’t you say?”

The table erupted into hushed, furious gasps.

”Catherine, that is treasonous talk! Lord Philia and His Highness are a match made by heaven!” Beatrice scolded, her face flushing. ”And besides, look at Cherion now. His greed knows no bounds. It is just too bad for him that his desperate scheming only landed him an engagement with the monster Duke.”

”Exactly,” the girl next to her whispered with a shudder. ”The North is a wasteland, and Duke Valtrane is a terrifying brute with failing health. He is practically on his deathbed. It’s exactly what a villain deserves.”

”He just hasn’t shown you his true colors yet, Your Highness,” Beatrice warned Iryna, her eyes wide with sincerity. ”Please, for the sake of the alliance and your own well-being, stay far away from him. He is not someone the capital feels comfortable around.”

Iryna listened to the chaotic flurry of gossip, nodding along sympathetically while her mind worked at a furious pace.

Outwardly, she looked like a sheltered princess taking a solemn warning to heart. But inwardly, she felt a profound wave of doubt. She had looked into Cherion’s eyes. She had felt his aura. He was sharp, calculating, and intensely guarded, yes, but a mindless, raging villain who acted purely on petty tantrums? No. The man she spoke to felt far more composed than the vicious figure they were describing.

”Can we please stop arguing?” Beatrice suddenly snapped, her face flushed with embarrassment as she glared across the table at Catherine. She quickly turned back to Iryna, offering an apologetic, strained smile. ”Forgive us, Your Highness. It is deeply shameful of us to bicker over such disgraceful capital gossip in front of you. Let us change the subject to something more pleasant.”

The other noble daughters immediately went rigid, hastily lowering their heads after realizing they had spoken too freely.

But Iryna merely let out a soft, melodious laugh, waving her hand dismissively. ”Oh, please, there is absolutely no need to stop on my account. In fact, I insist you continue.”

The girls blinked in surprise, looking up at the foreign princess.

Iryna offered them a blindingly warm, thoroughly encouraging smile as she gracefully lifted her porcelain cup to her lips. These people and their volatile, fractured court dynamics interested her far more than she had anticipated, and she had no intention of letting the entertainment end so soon.

”Please, go on,” Iryna murmured smoothly, taking a slow, elegant sip of her tea. ”I find myself wanting to know so much more.”
