Chapter 667: Chapter 667: The Intent of Xia Family Chapter 667: Chapter 667: The Intent of Xia Family “Family Head Liu, I am only here to convey the Family Head’s wishes. As for why, I am not at liberty to say. Farewell.”

Xia Yu clasped his fists, offered no explanation, and turned to leave.

Xia Yu’s words were somewhat cold, clearly showing contempt for the Liu family!

“Bastard!” Liu Qingyang was furious, wishing he could kill Xia Yu with a single blow.

The faces of Family Head Liu and the Great Elder darkened, while Liumeier, though not the daughter of the Family Head, was the granddaughter of the Great Elder and the precious lady of the Liu family!

“Father, the Xia family is clearly looking down on our Liu family! Who marries a wife without a welcoming procession?” Liu Qingyang roared angrily, veins throbbing on his forehead.

“This is an absolute insult!” The Great Elder couldn’t help but burst out angrily, “No welcoming procession, no banquet, what kind of decency is this? Liumeier, we shan’t marry into such a family!”

“…” Liumeier cried in grievance but felt powerless.

“The Xia family is overstepping the bounds! They have no regard for the Liu family at all! No welcoming procession, no banquet, and they still expect the Liu family to personally deliver Liumeier to the Xia family. If it were me, I would never agree!” A family head spat out furiously through clenched teeth.

“No welcoming procession, no banquet, I have never heard of such a thing!”

“The Xia family, as a great clan within the Empire, is acting so unreasonably! It’s preposterous!”

“Family Head Liu, you must not agree to this marriage. The Xia family doesn’t care about their reputation, but you can’t afford to lose face for the Liu family!”

“Exactly! Do not agree!”

Every upper elite of the major forces was filled with righteous indignation.

“This Xia family is rather arrogant. It’s obvious they look down on the Liu family. I thought they had come to fetch the bride just now.” Dong Zhantian shook his head.

“It is indeed surprising. The young master of the Xia family is getting married, and the Xia family isn’t holding a banquet. Aren’t they afraid of becoming a laughingstock?” Zhang Junlan said, utterly baffled.

“Liumeier, what exactly is going on? Did something happen?” Miao Qingqing turned to Liumeier and asked.

Liumeier wiped away her tears and said with a choked voice, “Nothing, Xia Yun always follows his parents’ arrangements. He would never treat me like this, but he also doesn’t dare to go against his parents’ wishes.”

Dong Zhantian disdainfully said, “Coward! He has no backbone at all!”

“That’s his parents’ fault! If he listens to everything his parents say, what kind of man is he?” Leng Mucheng commented darkly, visibly upset.

“Does that even need to be said? The Xia family occupies a lofty position in the Empire, and they believe marrying someone from our Liu family would be a disgrace to them. They simply look down on our family!” Liu Qingyang said through clenched teeth.

The anger of everyone present was ignited by Xia Yu’s words, transforming their initial joy into rage.

All the leading figures of the major forces were advising Family Head Liu to reject this marriage.

“Liumeier is already pregnant,” Family Head Liu finally said helplessly.

Upon hearing this, the entire place fell silent.

With Liumeier already carrying a child, if she didn’t marry, who would dare to marry her?

Even if someone would marry her, it was uncertain how long they would have to wait, not to mention the gossip that would ensue.

Once the news got out, it would be a minor issue if the Liu family lost face, but Liumeier might spend her whole life unable to marry.

If it weren’t for Liumeier’s pregnancy, the Family Head Liu would never have agreed and would have decisively refused!

“Family Head Liu, it seems we can only do as the Xia family says, otherwise Liumeier might…” a high-up from a powerful force said gravely.

“Indeed, Family Head Liu,” everyone said with reluctant nods.

“Why should it be so? Why should Liumeier be the one to suffer?” Liu Qingyang burst out angrily, “If the Xia family does not come for a welcoming procession, I will surely teach them a lesson!”

“Family Head Liu, you must not bow your head; the Xia family’s bullying is intolerable!” Zhang Junlan said.

“That’s right! I, Leng Mucheng, am the first to disagree! Let’s see just how formidable the Xia family is!” Leng Mucheng shouted angrily.

“Liu Brother, we’ll head to the Xia Family right now!” Dong Zhantian hastily said.

“Good!” Liu Qingyang bellowed, his demeanor brimming with fury.

With just a few like Liu Qingyang, they could easily intimidate the Xia Family.

“Nonsense!” The Family Head of Liu immediately scolded, glaring fiercely at Liu Qingyang.

“If there’s a fallout with the Xia Family because of this matter, how will Meier have a good life after she marries into their family? Are we still relatives?” The Family Head of Liu rebuked Liu Qingyang.

“Qingyang, don’t add to the chaos! If the two families end up at loggerheads, Meier will be uncomfortable in her marriage. Right now, we can only accommodate to avoid her being bullied, sigh…” Madam Liu said with a bitter smile, quickly pulling Liu Qingyang back.

Leng Mucheng furiously shouted, “If they dare! With just one word from me, the Sky Shadow Cavalry and the Black Flag Army will annihilate their Xia Family!”

“Mucheng, calm down!” The City Lord of Leng scolded, giving Leng Mucheng a stern look, and the latter immediately wilted.

“Family Head of Liu, this issue can’t be resolved by force, or it will only lead to enmity between the Xia and Liu families,” said the City Lord of Leng gravely.

The Family Head of Liu nodded solemnly, well aware of the truth. Otherwise, Liu Qingyang alone could intimidate the entire Xia Family.

“Meier, I can only apologize for the inconvenience,” said the Grand Elder with affectionate, age-worn eyes, his face filled with sorrow and fury, yet feeling utterly powerless.

Looking towards Liumeier, the Family Head of Liu said, “Meier, once you’re in the Xia Family, it won’t be like being in the Liu Family. Treat the people of the Xia Family well.”

“Yes, I understand,” Liumeier replied, crying out of grievance while nodding.

Everyone present shook their heads helplessly, the status of the Xia Family was undeniable, and no one could do anything about it.

“Why is everyone so sad and dejected at such a joyful wedding banquet? What’s the matter that leaves Uncle Liu so powerless?” Just then, a faint laughter rang out.

“Feng Brother!”

“Feng Big Brother!”

“Hall Master!”

Hearing this all too familiar voice, Ling Xiaoxiao, Liu Qingyang, and others were instantly overjoyed.

“This is… the voice of the Grand Commander!” The Family Head of Liu and the City Lord of Leng showed looks of astonishment.

“Whoosh!”

Above the Liu family estate, Feng Wuchen and Sky Pavilion appeared out of thin air as if by magic.

“We greet the Grand Commander!” Seeing Feng Wuchen appear, the City Lord of Leng, the Family Head of Liu, and other high-ranking officials from various forces all respectfully saluted.

“No need for such formalities,” Feng Wuchen said with a light smile.

“Great! Feng Big Brother, we were worried you wouldn’t make it in time!” Liu Qingyang said excitedly with a laugh.

“How could I not return when Meier is getting married?” Feng Wuchen replied with a light smile, slowly descending from above.

“What happened?” Seeing everyone’s gloomy expressions, Feng Wuchen asked again.

“It’s nothing really,” the Family Head of Liu respectfully answered, not daring to trouble Feng Wuchen further.

Feng Wuchen had already helped the Liu Family far too much over the years.

Looking toward Liumeier, Feng Wuchen asked, “Meier, tell me, what happened?”

“Feng Big Brother, it’s like this…” Liu Qingyang then recounted the events to Feng Wuchen.

“Hall Master, the Xia Family is clearly looking down on the Liu Family. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they send a bridal procession? Why not prepare a banquet?” Leng Mucheng said angrily.

“Grand Commander, we can’t have a falling out with the Xia Family over this!” The Family Head of Liu hurriedly said, worried that Feng Wuchen might resolve it by force.
