Chapter 138: Chapter 138 Qilin Beast

The terrifying force that appeared in Divine Valley was mysterious and of unknown origin, and had invisibly posed a great threat to the Four Empires.

In order to ascertain the source of this power, Ye Cangqiong and others had already been investigating around Divine Valley.

However, to their disappointment, once the illusion of the precipitous cliff dissipated, the mysterious and terrifying power vanished entirely, leaving not the slightest trace of an energy fluctuation.

Since the terrifying mysterious force was in Divine Valley, where could it be hidden?

Finally, Ye Cangqiong and his company turned their attention to the varied footprints left behind, guessing that the panic-stricken escape of the beasts was also due to this terrifying force.

The direction in which the beasts fled was definitely not where the terrifying power resided.

Therefore, Ye Cangqiong and his party concluded that the location of the mysterious and dreadful force lay in the opposite direction of the beasts’ escape route.

However, to their disappointment, apart from a great number of natural treasures, they discovered no trace of any fearsome power.

Several hours passed in vain.

“This mysterious force definitely wasn’t an illusion, otherwise General Ye and the others wouldn’t have sensed it,” Xing Tianfeng said with a frown, but they just couldn’t find it.

“If it’s some mysterious strong presence, we simply can’t find it,” Principal Zhang shook his head.

Ye Cangqiong frowned and said, “I only hope that this force will not pose a threat to the Empire. The existence of Divine Valley is too enigmatic; we can say we know absolutely nothing about it.”

With no other choice, they had to give up.

Turning to Spirit Lake, everything seemed peaceful, and Feng Wuchen and the others were cultivating.

Though Spirit Lake was tranquil, the calling in Feng Wuchen’s heart never ceased, but grew increasingly intense instead.

Suddenly, a faint disturbance arose from the center of the calm Spirit Lake.

“What’s that sound?” Sensing the noise from the center of Spirit Lake, Zhenyuntian’s gaze swiftly swept over.

“Something’s amiss,” an elder said with a furrowed brow, as the rest of the elders stood up and vigilantly watched the center of Spirit Lake.

The vast Spirit Lake was covered with a thick white mist, obscuring everything from view.

“Did you sense that? There’s something stirring in the lake,” Duan Henxi opened his eyes and said, starting to feel a bit panicky.

“Are you telling me there might be a ferocious beast in the lake?” Bai Kong said with a frown.

“Hey! Look quickly! That… What is that?” Duan Henxi suddenly pointed to the center of the lake and exclaimed in utter horror, unsure of what he had seen.

“A fierce beast! Quick, come up here!” Zhenyuntian cried out in horror and urgently shouted.

Everyone saw a white beast suddenly appear in the center of the lake, materializing from the white fog and then slowly fading away.

The appearance of the beast was exceedingly terrifying; resembling a male lion but not quite, and having a lion’s physique while seeming like a dragon but not, without the body of a dragon, it was terrifying, and no one had seen anything like it before.

Surprise flashed across Feng Wuchen’s eyes, and he thought to himself with a frown, “A Qilin? Why would a Qilin be in Divine Valley?”

With the memory of the Evil Dragon God, Feng Wuchen identified the beast as a Qilin, one of the primordial spirit beasts with peerless ferocious strength.

Moments later, the disturbance at the center of the lake grew more intense, and the thick mist covering the surface was swept away, revealing a giant vortex in the center, with waves rolling towards the shore.

“Everyone, be careful,” Zhenyuntian warned. The elders had already mobilized their True Yuan, preparing for battle.

In the center of the lake, the vortex grew larger, and then a powerful force spread from within the lake. While not as terrifying as the previous one, it was indeed formidable.

Feeling this frightful power, Zhenyuntian and the others’ faces paled.

“We’ve never encountered such a fearful beast before; you all better run!” an elder cried out, channeling True Yuan with both an alarmed and somber expression.

“Whiz whiz whiz!”

Water serpents shot out from the vortex, each with a loud sonic boom, rushing towards Feng Wuchen and the others, each filled with a dreadful force that not one of them could withstand.

“Dodge!” Zhenyuntian shouted. As a practitioner of the Yuandan Realm Seventh Layer, he too dared not confront this powerful force.

“Boom boom boom!”

“Buzz buzz!”

The terrifying bombardment of water serpents was deafening, with violent ripples of energy sweeping wildly around like a category twelve hurricane, and even though everyone had moved away in advance, they were still blasted away by the shockwaves.

“This power is at least of Tianyuan Realm!” one elder said in shock, his face ashen.

“This isn’t the power of the Qilin Clan! What kind of ferocious beast could it be that it’s not afraid of the Dragon Clan?” Feng Wuchen frowned and thought to himself, puzzled by what the appearance of the Qilin signified earlier.

The Dragon Clan was a supremely exalted existence, feared by countless ferocious beasts, with fear of dragons being ingrained into their very flesh and blood, never daring to act rashly before them.

Yet the beast in Spirit Lake dared to attack!

From within the colossal vortex of Spirit Lake, a winged giant python rose into the sky, its body as thick as a water barrel, looking very intimidating.

“It truly is a Tianyuan Realm ferocious beast!” Feeling the horrific aura, the elders were struck with an overwhelming fear.

Zhenyuntian frowned and said, “Flying Sky Azure Python!”

“So this is the Flying Sky Azure Python? It was actually hidden in Spirit Lake!” Bai Kong, Duan Henxi, and the others were so frightened that their complexions turned pale as they stared in fear at the hideous giant python.

Su Lieyang exclaimed in alarm, “It seems our cultivation disturbed it, and that’s why it showed itself.”

The Flying Sky Azure Python that had risen from Spirit Lake did not attack again, merely hovering above the lake surface, its cold snake eyes fixed on the group.

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh!”

By this time, Xing Tianfeng and Ye Cangqiong, among others, had already rushed over at full speed, guessing that something had gone wrong when they sensed the formidable power of the Tianyuan Realm.

“Tianyuan Realm Second Layer, Flying Sky Azure Python!” Ye Cangqiong said with a very solemn expression.

Dean Zhang said gravely, “The strength of the Flying Sky Azure Python is too terrifying. We must not fight it head-on. If there’s an opportunity, we must flee!”

The fact that Dean Zhang, a practitioner of the Yuandan Realm Ninth Level, held such apprehension showed the terror of the Flying Sky Azure Python, particularly one at the Tianyuan Realm Second Layer!

None of them, even with their combined strength, could match a Tianyuan Realm Second Layer adversary. Such was the terror of the Tianyuan Realm!

What puzzled Feng Wuchen and the others was why, as all the fierce beasts of Divine Valley had already fled, the Flying Sky Azure Python remained. Was it not afraid of the overwhelming power from just before?

Moreover, the Flying Sky Azure Python did not seem inclined to attack, which made them even more curious.

“You all go first! Quickly!” Xing Tianfeng said gravely, signaling the students to leave first.

“Please wait!” Just then, a robust voice echoed through Spirit Lake.

The sudden voice gave Feng Wuchen and his companions a huge start!

“That’s the voice of a fierce beast! The fierce beast is speaking!” Duan Henxi exclaimed in shock.

Su Lieyang, staring blankly at the Flying Sky Azure Python, said with a quivering voice, “Is… is the Flying Sky Azure Python talking?”

Xing Tianfeng said gravely, “It’s not the Flying Sky Azure Python that’s speaking. Fierce beasts can’t speak the human language.”

Out of the vortex emerged a beast with an extremely terrifying presence, large in stature and frightening in appearance.

What shocked Feng Wuchen and the others was that this fierce beast was the same one that had previously formed from the white mist!

“Qilin!” Feng Wuchen looked at the beast that had flown out, astounded and somewhat unbelieving.

A Qilin Beast actually existed in Divine Valley! Its body was fiery red, and a layer of flames covered its surface, looking extremely fearsome.

Everyone was terrified; the oppressive might of the Qilin Beast was so daunting that they could hardly stand.

“Do not be afraid,” the Qilin Beast retracted its oppressive aura and spoke again, “We mean no harm. For many years, your humans have entered Divine Valley to cultivate, and we have not stopped you. The thick spiritual energy of Spirit Lake is emitted from my body.”

Upon hearing this, Zhenyuntian and the others couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief but remained vigilant—who knew whether the Qilin Beast’s words were true or false?

The gaze of the Qilin Beast finally settled on Feng Wuchen, saying, “The reason we’ve kept you here is to ask Brother Feng Wuchen for help.”

“You want my help?” Feng Wuchen slightly started, while Zhenyuntian and the others all turned their attention to Feng Wuchen.

Help? What could Feng Wuchen do to help? How could such a powerful Qilin Beast require assistance from Feng Wuchen?

“Indeed,” the Qilin Beast nodded.

“Feng Wuchen, don’t be deceived. Who knows what their intentions are? They’re asking for your help; at the very least, we’re safe. But if you help them, who’s to say they won’t bite back?” Bai Kong frowned and said.

Duan Henxi agreed, saying, “Bai Kong is right. We don’t know their origins, and we absolutely can’t trust them.”

“Why ask Feng Wuchen for help? What’s special about Feng Wuchen?” Zhenyuntian wondered to himself.

“Not sure what you need help with?” Feng Wuchen looked at the Qilin Beast and asked.

Feng Wuchen guessed it had something to do with the summoning in Divine Valley since a Qilin Beast had now appeared, asking for his help.

“Please, follow me. The rest of you may continue to cultivate here; the Flying Sky Azure Python will not harm you,” the Qilin Beast said.

“Feng Wuchen, do you trust it?” Xing Tianfeng asked, frowning with concern.

“Dean, rest assured, there won’t be any problems,” Feng Wuchen said with a light smile, completely unworried that the Qilin Beast would do him any harm.

With a sweep of its massive paw, the Qilin Beast enveloped Feng Wuchen in a forceful power, then flew with him toward the depths of another side of Divine Valley.

Seeing the direction they were going, Feng Wuchen became even more certain it was related to the strong summons.

Feng Wuchen was also very curious about the nature of this summons and why the Qilin Beast would appear in Divine Valley.

“Great General, what should we do?” Xing Tianfeng quickly turned to Ye Cangqiong and asked, unable to stop Feng Wuchen who was determined to go.

Ye Cangqiong shook his head gravely, without saying a word.

If it was a fortune and not a disaster, if it was a disaster, there was no avoiding it. Since Feng Wuchen had decided, they dared not say anything.

The Flying Sky Azure Python dived into the lake, and the massive vortex disappeared with it.

“Feng Wuchen should be fine. Continue your cultivation,” said Dean Zhang gravely, his eyes on the direction where Feng Wuchen and the Qilin Beast had left.

That was where the fierce beasts of Divine Valley had fled!

How was the flight of the fierce beasts related to this summoning?

The more Feng Wuchen thought about it, the more curious he became, the more eager to know what was summoning him!
