Chapter 55: Chapter 055: Feng Wuchen Takes Action

Sword Flight was as fast as the Red-blood Birds of Tianyan Academy.

After slowly getting accustomed to it, Feng Wuchen soared into the higher skies, enjoying the thrill of gliding through the air.

After flying for half an hour, Feng Wuchen descended and entered a city to buy some medicinal materials, then headed to the outskirts.

The medicinal materials Feng Wuchen purchased were all for the refining of Second Grade Elixirs; he planned to refine two types.

One was a Healing Pill called the Bone Healing Qi Pill.

The other was an Elixir for restoring True Yuan, known as the Green Abyss Mystical Pill.

...

Both Elixirs were low-cost and easy to refine, yet they had powerful effects, especially for someone in the Transformative Realm—they were truly life-saving medicines.

Of course, these two Elixirs were not divine. Compared to more potent healing and restorative pills, they were still far from equal.

Given Feng Wuchen’s current status as a Second Grade Alchemist, with an all-out effort, he could only refine Third-Rank Pills; his Soul Power wasn’t strong enough to refine stronger medicines.

Although he was capable of refining Third-Rank Pills, Feng Wuchen didn’t want to exhaust his energy and Soul Power on them; Second Grade Pills were sufficient.

Upon completing the Elixir refining, Feng Wuchen cultivated for a few days before continuing his journey.

Now that his cultivation had entered the Transformative Realm, advancing further had become even more challenging.

Travelling and stopping along the way, after seven days, Feng Wuchen had arrived at the royal lands of the Empire—the Imperial Capital!

The Imperial Capital was expansive, filled with powerful individuals and countless geniuses.

The city was divided into many different regions, each with its cluster of cities.

However, Feng Wuchen’s destination was not the royal family, but the camp of the Great General!

The camp of the Great General was located within the forests north of the royal lands. It wasn’t large but was the training base for the Black Flag Army and Sky Shadow cavalry. Other camps were scattered around the borders of the Empire.

Feng Wuchen had just arrived in the Empire and didn’t go straight to the camp.

Inside the Imperial Capital dwell the royal family and its relatives; plenty of powerful and influential officials also resided there, making it an enormous entity.

Besides the royal family of the Empire, there was another colossal figure: the Ye family!

The Ye family had been loyal to the Empire for generations, never doubting their fealty, and were highly regarded by the monarchy.

If the Empire allied itself with the Ye family, even the Tianyun Sect dared not offend them lightly.

Because of this, in the Imperial Capital, many spoiled descendants of high-ranking officials acted arrogantly and without restraint.

Upon entering the Imperial Capital, Feng Wuchen saw prosperity and splendor unlike anything he had seen before, surpassing even that of Tiandu.

“As expected of the Imperial Capital, filled with strong individuals,” Feng Wuchen sighed to himself.

Feng Wuchen found an inn to stay in, planning to rest for a day before heading to the camp.

…

In the camp to the north of the Empire, a man reported respectfully, “Great General, Master Feng has arrived in the Imperial Capital and is resting at the Tianlai Inn in Luofeng City.”

“Oh? Master Feng has arrived in the Imperial Capital? That’s wonderful!” Ye Cangqiong asked in surprise, joy spreading across his face as he said, “Send someone to greet Master Feng first thing tomorrow morning! We must not neglect him!”

“Your subordinate obeys!” The man replied respectfully.

“Someone, go immediately to the palace to fetch the Artifact Refining materials! And inform the Duke and Elder Situ,” Ye Cangqiong ordered, his face beaming with an unabashed smile.

Ye Cangqiong walked out and ordered all Black Flag Army and Sky Shadow cavalry to assemble at top speed.

The total number of Black Flag Army and Sky Shadow cavalry wasn’t more than a few hundred, but they were the elite of the Empire’s soldiers, with exceptional combat skills.

Strength, speed, reaction, perception, and more—all far exceeded those of the ordinary soldier; they were the sharp edge of the Empire!

“To enhance your combat abilities, I have personally invited a VIP. He can make you stronger. This is an opportunity to strengthen our Empire. He will be arriving at our camp tomorrow to train you for a month,” declared Ye Cangqiong solemnly, full of authority, with the soldiers filled with awe for him.

But upon hearing Ye Cangqiong’s words, the soldiers were puzzled.

“A VIP? To train us?”

“Did the Great General personally invite him? Could it be that his cultivation is even more terrifying than the Great General’s?”

“Who could it be? Do we have someone more suitable than the Great General to train us in the Empire?”

The soldiers discussed among themselves, filled with curiosity and confusion about this VIP.

“I have done all I can. We only have a month, so how much you can improve is up to you. Whether you can join the Sky Shadow cavalry will also depend on your own fate,” continued Ye Cangqiong.

…

The next day, Feng Wuchen woke up early from his cultivation, greeted by the warm sunshine streaming through the window, full of vitality.

Feng Wuchen stretched lazily and muttered, “It’s about time.”

After a quick wash and some food, Feng Wuchen left the inn.

He had planned to find a back alley and use Sword Control to fly directly to the camp.

But as soon as he stepped out of the inn, he noticed that a fight had broken out not far away on the street—with a dozen or so attacking one person, who dared not fight back at all.

No one on the street dared to intervene because the attackers were all wearing the uniform of the Empire’s soldiers, clearly identifying them as military personnel.

“`

“Beat him to death!” a young master coldly ordered from the side, his attire clearly indicating he was the son of some official.

What are the soldiers of the Empire supposed to be doing? Aren’t they meant to protect the citizens? But now they are oppressing the common people.

Feng Wuchen couldn’t stand idly by and stepped forward, shouting sternly, “Stop!”

The dozen or so soldiers immediately ceased, their gazes turning towards Feng Wuchen. The arrogant young master snarled, “You little brat, when did it become your business? Do you know who I am? Believe it or not, I’ll beat you too?”

Feng Wuchen ignored him, his icy gaze fixed on the dozen soldiers, “The Empire trained you to protect the people, yet here you are, bullying them, outnumbering them. You’re a disgrace to the Empire. You don’t deserve to be called soldiers of the Empire!”

Hearing Feng Wuchen’s words, the soldiers’ faces turned ugly.

“You little bastard, believe it or not, I’ll break your legs?” The young master, angry because of Feng Wuchen’s previous indifference, strode towards Feng Wuchen and shouted furiously.

Without a word, Feng Wuchen swiftly grabbed the young master’s wrist and with a strong twist, threw him to the ground.

“Bang!”

With a kick, Feng Wuchen sent the arrogant young master flying with a muffled sound of impact.

“Break his legs for me!”

Being humiliated in front of so many people by a boy of sixteen or seventeen, the young master seethed with rage, hollering at the soldiers.

The soldiers rushed forward, and the beaten man took the opportunity to escape.

Feng Wuchen shook his head. He didn’t need to use True Yuan to deal with these soldiers; his fists and feet were enough to knock them down.

The soldiers were quickly subdued by Feng Wuchen, rolling on the ground and screaming in pain.

The surrounding onlookers, though feeling gratified, secretly pitied Feng Wuchen.

“This young man has guts, beating the Empire’s soldiers is one thing, but daring to hit a Seventh-Grade official’s son is akin to having a death wish.”

“Helping someone with a drawn sword depends on who it is; the young man is too impulsive.”

Many shook their heads in disapproval.

The young master was none other than Song Dingtian, son of the Seventh-Grade official Song Qiuming. He was notoriously tyrannical in Luofeng City, bullying the citizens with the backing of his father’s position.

“Little brother, hurry and leave, or it’ll be too late,” a kind-hearted old man called out in a low voice, and others also urged him to leave.

“Think you can leave? Dream on!” Song Dingtian stood up, his gaze dark and murderous as he released his Transformative Realm Second Layer True Yuan.

Song Dingtian lunged forward like a fierce tiger, aiming a ferocious punch at Feng Wuchen, seemingly intent on killing him with a single blow.

“Bang!”

Calm and unmoved, Feng Wuchen waited until the punch was nearly upon him before he threw his own punch. With a muffled sound, his overwhelming strength sent Song Dingtian flying.

The gap in strength wasn’t small.

“This damn kid is so strong!” Song Dingtian was shocked, feeling a piercing pain in his arm and nearly breaking it.

Feng Wuchen had already shown mercy, or else Song Dingtian’s arm would have been useless.

With a fierce glare at Feng Wuchen, Song Dingtian commanded the soldiers, “Go back and get reinforcements! We absolutely can’t let this brat escape!”

But just as Song Dingtian finished speaking, shouts suddenly came from further down the street: “General Ling is here!”

“General Ling?” The crowd’s attention shifted towards the source of the voice.

“General Ling has come to our Luofeng City!” As they confirmed it was indeed General Ling, the crowd erupted into cheers of excitement.

“Why would General Ling come here?” Song Dingtian was puzzled, turning to look as well.

At the other end of the street, a man in armor rode a warhorse, his presence powerful and commanding, followed by several generals.

The man leading them was General Ling Zhantian himself, quite renowned in the Empire and the foremost war general under Ye Cangqiong’s command! After years of campaigns alongside Ye Cangqiong, he had earned numerous accolades for the Empire.

“Greetings, General Ling!” The soldiers brought by Song Dingtian knelt respectfully.

General Ling paid them no heed, his gaze fixed on Feng Wuchen, before several generals dismounted and approached.

“General Ling, you’ve arrived just in time. That brat injured the soldiers and even dared to hit me. Arrest him immediately!” Song Dingtian shouted at General Ling, looking smugly at Feng Wuchen and sneering, “You little brat, I’d like to see you…

“Slap!”

Before Song Dingtian could finish, General Ling had already slapped him, sending him into a stunned silence with a crisp sound.

Song Dingtian was bewildered; why would General Ling hit him? It should have been Feng Wuchen who was hit.

He couldn’t believe that the slap was meant for him.

The onlookers on the street were equally baffled, unsure of what was happening.

“General Ling, you… what are you doing?” Song Dingtian asked, baffled and angry.

General Ling utterly ignored him, as the generals rushed to Feng Wuchen, bowing and saying respectfully, “Master Feng, we have arrived late. Please forgive us.”

“You exaggerate, General Ling,” Feng Wuchen replied softly.

“Master Feng?” Seeing General Ling and the others address him so respectfully as Master Feng, Song Dingtian and the onlookers were stunned, gaping at Feng Wuchen.
