Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One

Andariel and Huo Canghai have been staying at the Pilot Mansion for this period. Firstly, to organize the wedding, and secondly, because Xu Xingguang is about to attend the Hundred Medicines Conference. If she really goes to the Divine Martial Realm, Huo Wen’an will naturally follow her there.

Andariel and Huo Canghai didn’t say much, but they were quite reluctant to let go of these two children in their hearts.

Especially Huo Canghai.

He is old, and this farewell might be the last meeting. He wants to spend more time with Huo Wen’an.

When Xu Xingguang returned to the Pilot Mansion’s living room, she saw a butler in a suit, but with an unfamiliar face, standing in the living room. He bowed and reported to Huo Canghai, ”Sir, Mister is sick. Could you send someone over to check on him?”

The Mister he referred to was Huo Yunsheng.

”Mister has contracted a virus, and no doctor from the island’s hospital is willing to come and treat him.” The butler, seeing Huo Canghai remain silent, was somewhat anxious.

Glancing at Andariel, who was focused on the wedding arrangements on the sofa, he quickly said, ”The Lord Captain and Miss Xu’s wedding is approaching; this is a major happy event. Our Mister has a weak immune system, and if anything unexpected happens during his illness...”

Upon hearing this, Andariel closed her laptop, looked up, and cast a cold glance at the butler. ”What would happen if something unexpected occurred?” she smiled and asked.

The butler was somewhat afraid of this Princess.

He stammered, ”Mister is the Lord Captain’s elder brother. If something happens to him, this could end in both a funeral and a wedding being held at the same time...”

”Isn’t that simple?” Andariel smiled slightly and said, ”Huo Yunsheng has contracted a virus and cannot attend the Pilot’s wedding. The guests would understand. Whether Huo Yunsheng is dead or alive, no one would know anyway. Worst case, I’ll freeze him in an ice coffin, and after the new year, we can bury him anywhere, who will know the truth?”

The butler’s face turned pale.

”It’s not your place to threaten how the Lord Captain and the Pilot do things,” Andariel would not allow anyone to use family ties or morals to manipulate her husband and children.

The butler had long heard that Andariel was a domineering woman, but since this was his first meeting with her, he wasn’t sure of her depth, so he had boldly spoken out of turn.

”I spoke out of turn.” The butler quickly apologized.

After Andariel finished reprimanding the butler, Huo Canghai finally spoke, ”He led an unrestrained personal life and contracted a virus; he deserves it. His life is a life, and so are the doctors’ at the hospital. I can’t force a competent and healthy doctor to treat a fool with an infectious disease.”

”Spread the news of Huo Yunsheng’s critical condition. If someone is willing to see him, then they should; otherwise, let him wait for death himself.” Huo Canghai shook his head slightly, ”One reaps what they sow.”

”I understand, Pilot.”

The butler quickly hurried away, sweating coldly.

He had always known the Old Helmsman was a ruthless person, but he never expected he could be this heartless towards his own son.

Leaving the Pilot Mansion, the butler hurried to inform Madam Xie Jinyun and Huo Wenbei, who had just come out of the Central Cave and was confined at home.

Upon receiving the call, Xie Jinyun said, ”Other than his funeral, don’t bother me with anything else.” Huo Yunsheng had humiliated her so much with countless affairs; she couldn’t care less about whether he lived or died.

Huo Wenbei, having been confined in the Central Cave for a month or two, was physically very weak, lying on the bed and recuperating.

Upon receiving the call and learning that Huo Yunsheng had completely broken down physically due to a common cold, Huo Wenbei felt neither sorrow nor joy.

”Why call me? I am not a doctor; I can’t cure his illness. Nor am I a beauty to comfort him. After all he did for those flings outside, he completely disregarded my mother’s dignity.”

”He was too absolute as a person; he deserves to rot on that bed.”

Seeing that neither Madam nor Young Master would try to find a way to treat Huo Yunsheng, the butler felt powerless for the first time. Wearing protective gear, he stood at the entrance of the ward, looking at the dying Huo Yunsheng on the bed, feeling he couldn’t just give up.

He grew up with Huo Yunsheng; he was not only a butler in Huo Yunsheng’s house, but also a friend.

Precisely because he wasn’t part of Huo Yunsheng’s family, he didn’t harbor the resentment Xie Jinyun and Huo Wenbei did towards him.

After some thought, the butler picked up his phone again and called Song Chi.

Song Chi was Huo Yunsheng’s firstborn; maybe he wouldn’t let Huo Yunsheng die.

Song Chi also had his own villa on Divine Concealment Island, located halfway up the mountain under the Pilot Mansion, next to Xie Jinyun. When he received the call, Song Chi was working out in the gym, with his phone placed in the corner as he livestreamed with Bai Xi.

Both of them were in their youthful and vigorous years; when they met last time in the Capital City, they couldn’t help but sleep together.

Now separated by distance, they missed each other terribly, with the chemistry you could feel even through the screen.

”My uncle and aunt are getting married on October 18th, are you coming to the wedding?”

Bai Xi nodded, ”Zhouzhou and I both received invitations, and Zhouzhou deliberately canceled her schedule for those days; we’ll be coming together.”

”Okay, then you’ll stay at my place.” Song Chi gazed at Bai Xi with warm eyes, and said, ”You stay with me, Cheng Xizhou will sleep in the guest room.”

Bai Xi: ”...Okay.”

She awkwardly rubbed her earlobe.

Song Chi continued, ”Then I’ll take you to meet my grandfather and mother, to introduce you to them.”

Bai Xi suddenly felt nervous, her face tensing up. ”Ah? Is it that soon?”

”They both know about us.”

Bai Xi bit her lip, feeling insecure, ”Will they accept my background?”

”If they do, then I am the rightful grandson of the Huo Family. If not, then I am just Song Chi from Cangshan Town.” Song Chi’s attitude was very assertive; having always lived like a wild plant, he hated being manipulated by others the most.

No one, and no authority, can control his marriage.

Hearing this, Bai Xi felt a bit more at ease, but she still sincerely said, ”I hope our feelings can receive the blessings of your family. I don’t want you to become isolated because of me. Love without blessings is hard to last.”

”No worries, my uncle and aunt will accept you.”

Bai Xi immediately felt relieved.

The conversation gradually turned a little risqué.

Just as Song Chi was beginning to daydream, a call came in from Huo Yunsheng’s butler. The Huo Family had an internal directory, and any unfamiliar phone number calling in would be clearly noted with identity.

Seeing it was a call from Huo Yunsheng’s butler, Song Chi hesitated for a moment before answering.

Before the butler could speak, Song Chi asked, ”Is Mister gone?” Besides announcing a death, Song Chi couldn’t think of any other reason for the call.

The butler’s throat tightened, his remaining words blocked in his throat.

Another one hoping for Mister’s death.

”Young Master Song Chi.” The butler dryly explained, ”Mister caught a cold. His resistance is too weak, and even a minor illness could be life-threatening for him. The hospital refuses to take him in. Could you please ask Doctor Ye to take a look at him?”

Song Chi questioned the butler, ”In what capacity, and on what grounds are you asking me?”

The butler instinctively replied, ”I am not asking, I am pleading.”

”Oh? So, do you think I should agree?”

The butler couldn’t gauge what Song Chi was thinking, so he hesitated and explained, ”After all, he is your biological father.”

”Ha.”

Song Chi said, ”You shouldn’t be calling me to find someone to save him. What you should really be doing is advising him to apologize to everyone he has hurt. To his wife, to his own children, to the father who had high hopes for him but was deeply disappointed.”

”Huo Yunsheng made so many mistakes, yet he has never uttered a word of apology. What face does he have to ask us to find a doctor to save him?”

”Isn’t it only right to apologize to the victims?”

Saying that, Song Chi directly hung up the phone.
