Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One

As soon as the news broke, all the homeowners who had signed pre-sale housing contracts with Anshan Real Estate Company backed out.

When people buy a house, they first look at the transportation and the surrounding facilities, secondly at the layout and quality, and thirdly at the feng shui.

And feng shui is, in fact, the biggest taboo among the three factors.

The people of Xia Country are rather superstitious, believing that if the feng shui is bad, their homes will be restless. Once the home is restless, nothing goes smoothly.

Buying a house is not easy; who the hell would want to spend all their money to buy a house with bad feng shui?

They strongly demanded a refund, but once the money goes into the capitalists’ pockets, is it that easy to get it back?

As a result, what started as a grand opening ceremony turned into a comical scene of violence between homeowners and real estate sales personnel.

This incident even caused a nationwide sensation.

After that incident, Anshan Real Estate Company realized that there was no saving this development project.

With the thought of cutting losses in time, they could only withdraw their investment early on.

In this situation, learning that Xiahou Zuiyue intended to invest in the Longhu Shuilan project, President Li really couldn’t understand it.

But could someone who was called back by the Xiahou Family to Yujiang City to manage the major industrial base engage in a losing business?

President Li really wanted to understand the reason, which is why he bravely approached Xiahou Zuiyue for a conversation.

President Li carefully observed Xiahou Zuiyue’s reaction, and seeing that he had no intention of abandoning his investment even after hearing about the excavator master’s murder incident, made President Li even more curious.

”Mr. Xiahou, could it be that the City Lord Mansion has some new plans for the construction in the southern parts of the city?” Besides this, President Li couldn’t think of any other possibility.

Xiahou Zuiyue was a member of the Xiahou Family, and the current Lord City Lord is Xiahou Shang, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Xiahou Zuiyue knew in advance about any changes in the southern parts of the city.

Xiahou Zuiyue’s answer sounded somewhat ambiguous. He said, ”A piece of land in such a good location surely won’t be left to waste.”

Hearing Xiahou Zuiyue’s answer, President Li assumed he was confirming his previous question.

”Mr. Xiahou, so do you know how the City Lord Mansion plans to develop that piece of land?” With corpses buried under Longhu Shuilan, regardless of the planning, it’s difficult to change the reputation.

President Li really couldn’t understand what method the City Lord Mansion could think of to bring it back to life.

Xiahou Zuiyue pressed the scarlet cigarette butt into the gravel at the top of the trash bin beside him. He straightened his jacket and said, ”The southern area hasn’t had the metro line extended yet, has it? As long as the urban planning chooses to run the metro line through Longhu Shuilan, then, wouldn’t it dig out the unclean things?”

President Li was taken aback.

The developers had initially thought about digging three feet deep to exhume the two cursed corpses.

But according to the excavator master’s confession, he was afraid of being discovered for his crime and had buried the adulterous couple’s bodies four or five meters deep under the underground garage.

As for exactly where under which building, he couldn’t remember himself.

The construction team had no way to start digging out the two people’s bodies.

President Li mused, ”Building the metro is naturally a good thing, but that excavator master had long forgotten where those two people were buried, and even if they were to dig, they wouldn’t know which direction to take.”

”Ha.” Xiahou Zuiyue actually laughed.

President Li was even more baffled by Xiahou Zuiyue’s smile. ”Mr. Xiahou, did I say something wrong?” Otherwise, why was he laughing?

Xiahou Zuiyue shook his head, rubbed his brow, and whispered, ”It’s better that he doesn’t remember.”

President Li, having been in business for many years and being astute, understood.

Xiahou Zuiyue’s words sounded cryptic, but Li instantly grasped his meaning.

The excavator master himself couldn’t recall the burial site; therefore, as long as the metro ran through Longhu Shuilan and they publicly announced having found the two people’s bodies—then casually using two corpses as a cover—the matter would be resolved.

Realizing the twists and turns of this, President Li couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up, praising, ”This subway is really ingeniously planned.”

Xiahou Zuiyue checked his watch, seemingly preparing to leave.

Before leaving, he confided in President Li, saying, ”President Li, you’re a senior in business, so I’ll be honest with you, I’m very optimistic about the Longhu Shuilan project.”

”I’ve investigated Anshan Real Estate and found that the major shareholders in their company have intense internal conflicts, liable to fall apart at any moment. At this point, if someone is willing to take over the project at a low price, I think Anshan Real Estate will be willing to let go.”
