Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One

The cherry blossoms in Cangshan are blooming.

Students and residents nearby are flocking to Cangshan for a day out to enjoy the flowers.

It’s Saturday, and after finishing breakfast, Xu Xingguang was planning to livestream the renovation progress when she received a video call from Huo Wen’an.

This was the first time Boss Huo had ever called her via video, which surprised Xu Xingguang a little.

She answered the call but didn’t see Boss Huo himself; she only heard his voice: ”Miss Xu, the cherry blossoms are blooming. The weather is nice today, shall we go out to admire them?”

While speaking, Boss Huo came closer and picked up the phone. Xu Xingguang noticed that Boss Huo had a camera hanging around his neck, and she asked, ”Taking pictures?”

Huo Wen’an nodded.

”Yeah, my photography skills are pretty decent.”

Xu Xingguang glanced back at the memorial portrait she had placed in the liquor cabinet, secretly noting that his skills were indeed good.

”Just a few minutes.”

Xu Xingguang went back to her room, rummaged through her belongings, and quickly changed into a dress.

She told Sister Linlin that she wouldn’t be back for lunch, grabbed a woven basket with fruits, and headed out.

At the gate of Huo Wen’an’s yard was parked a Bentley, which belonged to Ye Mingluo.

He was leaning against the car adjusting his camera.

”Boss Huo.”

Hearing the voice, Huo Wen’an looked up at Xu Xingguang.

Today she wore an ink-style silk camisole backless long dress, with a translucent cardigan draped over her jade-like shoulders.

Her enchanting figure made it hard to look away.

Huo Wen’an glanced at her twice before saying, ”The dress suits you perfectly.”

”Thank you.”

It was only a ten-minute drive from the town to the wild cherry blossom woods in Cangshan. On the way, Huo Wen’an focused on driving, while Xu Xingguang enjoyed the scenery outside the window.

Midway up the mountain was full of cars, but Huo Wen’an’s driving skills were superb, managing to park the car effortlessly at the edge of the mountain road, with just a hand’s breadth between the car’s front and rear.

From here, one could overlook the entire Cangshan Town and University City, and Xu Xingguang admired the scenery below the mountain, the enticing spring breeze tossing her hair wildly.

A few strands of hair blew towards Huo Wen’an.

He was leaning sideways, reaching for the camera and lens on the back seat of the car.

The fine strands danced across his lips and nose, his movements paused, and he glanced at Xu Xingguang.

Seeing Xu Xingguang engrossed in the mountain scenery below, unaware of her surroundings. Huo Wen’an cautiously reached out, threaded his fingertips through her hair, caught the ends, and sniffed it lightly.

Suddenly realizing he seemed like a creep, Huo Wen’an quickly released his hand and grabbed the camera, ”We’re here, let’s get out of the car.”

Xu Xingguang followed and got out of the car.

It was just nine o’clock in the morning, and although there were plenty of tourists, it wasn’t crowded to the point of discomfort.

Under the cherry blossom trees, the grannies held up silk scarves, the wind making them flutter while they laughed more brightly than the flowers.

Xu Xingguang watched with interest for a while until she heard Huo Wen’an ask, ”Do you like it?”

Before Xu Xingguang could respond, Huo Wen’an said, ”Cangshan Town doesn’t sell these silk scarves, you’d have to go to University City to buy one.”

Xu Xingguang shook her head and glanced at the elderly gentleman snapping photos for the grannies, smiling, ”I just think the grannies and grandpas have such sweet relationships.”

Huo Wen’an’s gaze swept back and forth over the elderly couple, and he suddenly laughed.

The grandpa taking photos for the grandma was similar to him taking photos for Xu Xingguang, wasn’t it?

When Xu Xingguang first visited Huo Wen’an for a portrait, she noticed a Leica M series camera on his desk, realizing that Boss Huo was a photography enthusiast.

When she dined with Ye Mingluo at Friendship Building last time, she saw a set of Huo Wen’an’s photography equipment in Ye Mingluo’s car, showing Huo Wen’an’s genuine passion for photography.

Walking together along the forest path, Xu Xingguang asked Huo Wen’an, ”Are you a professional photographer?”

Huo Wen’an shook his head, ”Just taking photos for fun.”

Most photography masters would say that.

Xu Xingguang asked Huo Wen’an again, ”What works have you captured?”

Huo Wen’an replied, ”You can check my Weibo profile.” Xu Xingguang opened Weibo, preparing to search for the username Huo Zui, then thought Boss Huo probably wouldn’t use that name.

So she asked Huo Wen’an, ”What’s your Weibo name?”

Without hesitation, Huo Wen’an said, ”Zui Mei Photography.”

Xu Xingguang couldn’t help but laugh, ”Your name is really simple and straightforward.”

She found Zui Mei Photography and discovered that remarkably, Huo Wen’an had over a hundred thousand followers, and his Weibo profile contained no idle remarks, only photography tech tips and shared works.

The photos under his lens showed no obvious traces of editing, retaining their original style.

”The photos are great.” Xu Xingguang noticed that Huo Wen’an captured everything, except people, and asked him, ”Why aren’t there any portraits?”
