After Gender Transformation, I Was Adjusted by the System into the Demon Queen’s Strongest Maid

Lilia ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍stared at that stiff back as it disappeared into the city gate tunnel, her back molars grinding audibly.

She ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍actually dared to threaten her!

And ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍the master must have water in her brain.

Sending ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍this kind of thing to “assist” her?

It ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍was clearly because her life had been too comfortable, so she deliberately stuffed an unstable bomb at her side.

If she didn’t keep an eye on it for even a moment, that thing might stab her in the kidney from behind and then carry her head back to Hera to claim a reward.

The more Lilia thought about it, the angrier she became. She ground her toe into the ground viciously, crushing a passing unlucky beetle into the dirt.

Time passed quickly.

There were quite a few demons coming and going at the city gate.

There were pig-headed humanoids driving two-headed ox carts, goblin merchants carrying large and small bundles on their backs, and occasionally a few low-tier succubi in revealing clothes flirting with the guards.

But that purple-haired dead fish eye was nowhere to be seen.

Did it really take this long just to get a teleportation permit?

Lilia was getting a bit impatient.

Just as she was about to go back and look for her, there was finally movement at the city gate.

The figure that had made her wait until her legs went numb came out.

Lilia narrowed her eyes and carefully examined Bulara.

Something felt off.

When she went in earlier, Bulara had walked like a scrapped machine without lubrication, even needing to twist her neck into place before moving her body.

But now, she seemed much smoother.

“What did you go do?”

Lilia walked up to her irritably, her tone full of gunpowder. “Why so slow? If you didn’t come out soon, I was about to set up a memorial for you.”

Bulara stopped two meters in front of her.

“My apologies, Senior Lilia.”

“I contacted His Majesty directly.”

Lilia’s heart skipped a beat.

“Well, perfect then,” Lilia cleared her throat and extended a hand, palm up, shaking it slightly. “Since you got in touch, hurry up. Let’s go early and come back early. I still need to rush back to cook dinner for His Majesty.”

That extreme northern Black Sea—rumor had it even the air there was poisonous. She didn’t want to stay there for even a second longer than necessary.

Bulara didn’t move.

She simply stared quietly at Lilia. The pale seam of her mouth split wider at both ends, pulling into a standard smile that exposed eight sharp teeth.

The smile was too standard, as if measured with a ruler, and instead felt indescribably eerie.

“No.”

Lilia’s hand froze midair, her brows twisting together. “Huh?”

Bulara spoke calmly, “His Majesty just said.”

“What?”

“Teleportation is forbidden.” Bulara repeated patiently, even kindly adding an explanation. That gray eye flickered with an unclear light. “In other words, we need to travel overland, pass through the Dark Forest, cross the Sighing Mountains, and finally reach the Black Sea.”

The expression on Lilia’s face cracked.

Walk there on foot?

By the time they arrived, everything would be long over!

“Are you joking?” Lilia’s voice shot up an octave as she pointed at Bulara’s nose. “Or did you hear wrong? Or maybe His Majesty wasn’t fully awake and was joking?”

“His Majesty never jokes.”

Bulara tilted her head, the motion still carrying that inhuman stiffness.

Lilia: “……”

Well, well.

Case solved.

This wasn’t a business trip at all.

This was public revenge! This was blatant exploitation!

That wicked woman definitely held a grudge over the fact that a few days ago, in her dream, Lilia made her kneel and scrub the floor!

“Conveniently cleaning up along the way”? This was clearly treating her like a bulldozer to push straight through everything!

Even production team donkeys wouldn’t be worked this hard!

“I think I need to confirm with His Majesty again…” Lilia raised her left hand tremblingly, trying to activate that damned Conjoined Heart Lock ring.

She didn’t believe it.

Hera might be cruel, but she shouldn’t be this insane… right?

Slap.

A cold hand pressed down on her wrist.

Bulara’s fingers felt like ice, chilling to the bone. The smile on her face deepened, and that eerie mechanical sensation crawled up Lilia’s spine again.

“Senior.”

“Questioning His Majesty’s decision is not something a good maid should do.”

“And before cutting off communication, His Majesty specifically instructed…” Bulara leaned closer, the faint sulfuric smell from her mouth rushing straight to Lilia’s head, “if you dare to bother her over such a ‘small matter,’ or try to act spoiled and shirk…”

Lilia instantly stood at attention.

Her expression solemn.

Her gaze firm.

Like a brave warrior about to march onto the battlefield.

“Of course!” Lilia declared righteously, patting her chest, even adjusting her collar. “Being able to share His Majesty’s burdens is my honor! Walking is great—walking builds the body and lets you appreciate the magnificent landscapes of the Demon Realm! I love hiking! Whoever tries to make me take a teleportation array, I’ll fight them!”

Bulara seemed very satisfied with this response.

She released her hand, stepped back to a safe distance, and returned to that lifeless appearance, as if the fang-baring figure from moments ago had just been an illusion.

“Since Senior has no objections.”

“Then we shall depart now.”

Depart.

What an auspicious choice of words.

Lilia looked at the gray road stretching endlessly into the distance and silently raised a middle finger at Hera in her heart.

Just wait.

When she came back from the Black Sea, not only would she use Hera’s toothbrush—she would even deliberately cook awful meals! In her dreams, she would absolutely make her scrub toilets for a whole month!

Lilia could only comfort herself silently.

The sunset was like blood, stretching their shadows long.

One in front, one behind.

Like a prison guard escorting a prisoner—and that unlucky soul heading to execution.

Lilia sighed and resignedly stepped forward.

She had just left the door.

And she was already starting to miss the two-meter-wide bed in the Palace of Eternal Night. And that boss who, although sharp-tongued and fond of exploiting her, at least smelled nice.

What kind of damned mission was this?

“Oh, right, Senior.”

Bulara ahead suddenly stopped without turning back. Her voice drifted over faintly, carrying a trace of eerie delight.

“I forgot to mention earlier.”

“Because the journey is long, in order to save on palace expenses…”

“For all food and lodging along the way… His Majesty said you should figure it out yourself. As long as you don’t rob others under her name, anything is fine.”

Lilia stumbled, nearly slamming her head into the ground on the spot.

You bastard!

So she really was being treated like an emotionless money-making machine and a walking ATM?!

Grinding her teeth, Lilia squeezed out a single word through the gaps, her voice like a vengeful ghost crawling out of hell:

“Move!”
