I Became a Witch and Started an Industrial Revolution

Mitia was not part of the main combat force but played a supporting role. She could keep an eye on the battle at Belzetsk while handling other matters. Of course, the main reason was that the Seris Federation currently held the upper hand.

But the Magic Goddess Ivdien did not have such a relaxed state of mind.

She realized that she had been set up by Mitia—or rather, she had never expected the Witch race to provide Mitia with such overwhelming support.

At first, she believed that with six fanatical believers she had elevated to quasi-Saint-level combat power, along with two Saint Spirits infinitely close to the peak of Saint-level, plus six or seven Saints supported by other nations, even if they could not defeat the relatively shallow-founded Seris Federation, they certainly would not lose.

However, Ivdien had not anticipated that after truly clashing within the small world, she would discover that among the nine witches, eight were mid-stage Saints and one was a Half-God.

There was also Miwei, whose rank was unknown, observing the battle outside the boundary. In front of the Witch race, numerical superiority simply held no meaning.

While fighting one against two, they still had the spare strength to cast two spells across dimensions, directly bombarding the super fortress with full-scale magical strikes, invisibly accelerating the Alliance soldiers’ progress in capturing the fortress below.

Even the casual manipulation of the earth’s power by a Half-God witch was enough to trigger a magnitude-5 shallow-source earthquake, temporarily altering the terrain structure of the region.

Meanwhile, the Church’s ultimate spells, occasionally cast toward the Alliance positions, were jointly blocked by the composite shields of medium-sized shield field launch vehicles deployed across various locations and Miwei herself. And in the worst case, there was still Mitia’s final line of defense.

Watching this scene, Ivdien nearly ground her teeth to dust. But since she had been the one to propose unrestricted warfare, she had to bear all the consequences of Saints directly intervening on the battlefield.

Mitia had never had the habit of gambling on others’ integrity.

At the national level, agreements were only honored when they were beneficial. Once they ceased to be advantageous, almost every country would treat them like disposable waste.

Therefore, once troop formations reached the scale of an army, at least two Saint-level powerhouses would accompany them as the final safeguard.

In a high-intensity war against the Church, it was even more necessary to guard against Ivdien resorting to desperate measures. Clearly, her decision had been correct.

Meanwhile, on the other side, a message relayed by the Mosseradel Fleet caused Mitia—who had just returned to the palace after inspecting the Tiger tanks—to feel a heaviness in her heart.

【At 13:25 on the afternoon of the 5th, our side detected abnormal troop movements from the Kingdom of Frini and the Empire of Mantogore. At 14:40, we encountered a sudden assault led by two wind-element Saint Dragons commanding a dragon-type air cavalry regiment.】

【At the cost of one battleship sunk, one heavily damaged, and the loss of eight cruisers and thirty-five gunboats, we eliminated the entire enemy force. The Wolis Empire is suspected to have joined the war. It is recommended that the Alliance High Command pay close attention.】

Mantogore, Frini, and Wolis. Even excluding Mantogore, that still meant two additional nations had entered the war. The alliance structure had now effectively become an eight-nation coalition army. The external environment facing the Alliance had grown even harsher.

Moreover, Wolis specialized in and relied heavily on aerial warfare. Without a doubt, the Alliance’s air fleets would face severe challenges. Combined with Mantogore’s land-based beastmen forces...

“No need to wait any longer! Have the Alliance General Staff take immediate action. Regardless of how many troops have been assembled, prioritize deployment toward Mosseradel. Activate the war-readiness contingency plan—Emergency Level 2+!”

Anna nodded and ran out to make arrangements.

Level Two war-readiness status would freeze all non-military activities within the army, such as leave, discharge, and transfers. Weapons and equipment would undergo inspection, and units would assemble according to their designations to form operational forces.

Level 2+ would recall all soldiers discharged within the past two years to resume military training. The Ministry of War would also open one-quarter of the coordinates of sealed national war reserve arsenals to various state defense zones, preparing for the potential activation of mobilization orders.

The Alliance’s state-level defense zone system allowed it to rapidly recall previously discharged veterans and recruit new volunteers. Meanwhile, its vast reserve arsenals enabled forces to be armed and organized locally within each state, forming cohesive units that could be directly deployed to the battlefield.

At the same time, the government would be fully taken over by the military General Staff, forming a Joint Command to integrate intelligence from all continents of the Alliance, answering only to the Empress.

Government personnel would be responsible solely for maintaining daily urban and civilian operations, without participating in policy-making decisions, ensuring the fastest possible transition to centralized integration of military, political, and religious authority.

By the time Mitia changed into her formal Empress attire and arrived at the Pentagon building, all high-ranking military and political leaders were present without exception. Representatives from the Church, unions, farmers’ associations, and chambers of commerce were also seated below, awaiting specific orders.

Seeing Mitia arrive, everyone stood and saluted. She waved her hand, skipping formalities entirely:

“Someone from the General Staff—brief us on the current situation.”

Intelligence reports were always prepared in duplicate. If Mitia could see them, it meant the General Staff had already received them earlier, verified and analyzed the information, and submitted detailed plans for her decision.

This time, however, she had bypassed the General Staff and directly declared the emergency state—skipping procedures and seizing the initiative. Now, the General Staff would instead analyze the possible outcomes of her decision.

A staff officer stood, saluted, and walked to the main screen of the conference hall:

“Based on intelligence returned by the Mosseradel Fleet, combined with prior intelligence gathered by special operations departments, there is a 98% probability that the Wolis Empire, the Kingdom of Frini, and the United Kingdom of Shaluo will intervene in the war between us and the Main Continent alliance.”

“According to confirmed intelligence, not only state-level forces, but also the races behind them—the Dragon race, the Blood race, and the Dwarven race—have over a 60% probability of directly intervening.”

“If the three nations are fully incorporated into the allied coalition, the eight countries will include three empire-level powers and five kingdom-level powers, with a total population of approximately 600 million. Their standing regular army exceeds 15 million, including 2 million elite Mechanical Corps. On the surface, they possess over forty Saints, six Half-Gods, and three main gods...”

After hearing the overall data, everyone’s expressions grew heavy.

The gap in high-end combat power was still manageable. The Alliance and the Witch race were practically inseparable—everyone present knew this clearly. Mitia and the Witch race leader alone could offset two main gods, leaving the remaining Magic Goddess Ivdien as a manageable threat.

As for the number of Saints and Half-Gods, the Witch race alone had more than the combined total of these kingdoms. Even considering the races behind them, the Witch side was only at a slight numerical disadvantage, still within acceptable limits.

But once combat power was lowered to the level below Ninth Rank—ordinary soldiers—the Alliance’s disadvantage became significant.

The Alliance’s population was approximately 120 million, with a standing army of around 4 million.

In fact, in terms of population, the Alliance was comparable to a traditional empire, and its standing army exceeded that of other empires in peacetime by 30%. It could absolutely be considered highly militarized.

The problem was that while the Alliance was strong in one-on-one comparisons—even capable of fighting one against two thanks to its superior and more reliable weaponry—

It now had to face eight enemies.

Even accounting for the enemy retaining troops for domestic stability, by conscripting civilians into auxiliary roles and reallocating regular forces, they could still field around ten million regular troops.

That number alone was terrifying—more than enough to overwhelm the Seris Federation.

Before this, some had attended the meeting thinking that the Empress might have been overly sensitive.

But after hearing the final comprehensive data, they began to feel that perhaps it would have been more appropriate to advise the Empress to initiate Level One war-readiness status instead...
