I Became a Witch and Started an Industrial Revolution

A convoy of carriages moved forward slowly. A large number of armed personnel rode on horseback around the convoy, guarding it while their sharp eyes constantly swept across the surrounding environment.

None of them bore any family crests or banners. They wore black robes and carried Alliance-produced Bolt-action Rifles on their backs, while underneath they wore magical leather armor.

At the very front of the convoy, two tall Mechanical Soldiers cleared the way. With such equipment and configuration, only a fool would believe they were bandits.

After spotting the target convoy, Miwei held her breath inside the Mecha, slowly extending her thick mechanical finger into the trigger guard of the sniper cannon and preparing to fire.

Betty and the others also suppressed their breathing and dared not speak, afraid that even the faintest sound might alert the unknown Saint-level powerhouse inside Carriage No. 4.

When Carriage No. 1 turned and aligned directly with Miwei, faint white light began to glow across her entire Mecha, flowing from her gauntlets onto the body of the AMRss-40 Sniper Cannon.

Along the thick silver-plated barrel, the runic patterns engraved on the surface lit up layer by layer. Light-element crystals ignited in sequence, shielding the projectile inside. Fine beads of sweat formed on Miwei’s forehead.

She did not dare draw upon the free-floating light elements from the outside world and could only extract power from within her own body. The feeling of being drained grew stronger and stronger, until her entire delicate body began trembling slightly—only then was the charging complete.

The entire AMRss-40 radiated a golden-red glow.

As her finger pulled the trigger—

“Click.”

Miwei only felt the recoil dampener of the gun mount slam violently. The force hurled her backward even while she was inside the Mecha. With the muzzle velocity reaching 2000 meters per second, she saw nothing except the AMRss-40 exploding into countless fragments.

---

Inside the carriage, the frame rocked slightly.

Grey sat within, resting with his eyes closed. Recently he had been feeling uneasy.

Capturing the crown prince of another nation—no matter how one looked at it—the risks and the benefits simply did not match.

He could not understand what kind of scheme his elder brother, Pue Lalor, the current king, had in mind. Did he truly believe he could install a pro-Pue Lent ruler onto the throne of Suria?

But even if he could, what would be the point?

Could promises really be fulfilled?

After all, the comprehensive strength of the United Kingdom of Suria was not inferior to theirs...

Suddenly, Grey’s eyes snapped open. A thin bolt of lightning flashed through his gaze.

At the same instant a magical barrier formed around him, a black projectile with small fins smashed through the carriage wall and struck the Magic Shield.

“Boom!”

Only then did a deafening gunshot echo across the empty mountain wilderness.

The probe at the front of the projectile slammed violently into the Magic Shield first. However, Grey’s barrier easily neutralized its kinetic energy.

Just as a trace of disdain appeared in his eyes—

The rear section of the projectile suddenly exploded.

At the contact point with the shield, a crimson jet burst forward and blasted against the barrier.

The shockwave of the special explosive struck the 30-degree conical liner at 9,500 meters per second, concentrating detonation pressure at the cone’s apex. The metallic shaped-charge liner collapsed instantly, forming a high-velocity jet of metal particles.

The projectile’s flight path suddenly erupted with blinding white light streaking rapidly to both sides, followed by intense and continuous explosions.

“Boom…”

In Grey’s shocked gaze, the miniature jet created by the bullet pierced through the shield with a sharp hiss and shot toward his body.

The high-pressure metal particle jet, fragmented into superheated particles and carrying kinetic energy at 10,000 meters per second, violently forced its way through the Saint-level defensive barrier—and through Grey’s body.

“AAAAAH!!!”

On the straight road, three carriages and more than a hundred soldiers were engulfed in the massive explosion.

Only Grey could still scream.

Everyone else had already been vaporized the moment the white flash erupted.

---

“Move!”

Betty and the others burst out from their ambush positions at the angle of the Seven-shaped Turning Intersection.

Another Mecha soldier raised a PKDM Heavy Machine Gun, sweeping precise fire at the two Mechanical Soldiers guarding the rear. Before the enemy could react, their armor was shattered and they were killed instantly.

The others, wearing Exoskeleton Armor, advanced steadily with AK-47 (configuration) rifles, clearing out the remaining survivors.

Dense and chaotic gunfire mixed with screams.

Betty rushed toward Carriage No. 4, firing rapid controlled bursts from her rifle, each shot precisely blowing apart the heads of enemies near the carriage.

In the darkness, many enemy soldiers never even saw where the attackers were before their skulls were shattered by accurate shots.

At close range, the specially made 7.62mm fin-stabilized tungsten-core flechette rounds possessed powerful point-to-point shield-penetration capability. Very few mages at the scene could withstand even two bullets and remain standing.

And Betty’s team fired three-round bursts.

Mitia had positioned special forces as professional mage hunters, so any weapons and ammunition capable of countering mages were prioritized for them.

The 7.62mm tungsten flechette rounds could only be custom-forged by dwarf master smiths within the Witch race.

With Seris’s current machining precision, such ammunition simply could not be mass-produced. Even in Miwei’s previous world, manufacturing flechette rounds of this specification was extremely difficult—usually the caliber was 12.8 mm.

---

Grey burst out of the white light, floating in midair completely naked.

One hand clutched his lower abdomen. From behind, a horrifying wound nearly 20 centimeters in diameter could clearly be seen.

At the same time, the Mecha soldier continued firing the general-purpose machine gun at him. Each bullet striking the shield produced ripples across the barrier, making Grey’s eyelids twitch.

Anger and fear flashed across his face as he glanced toward the distant hillside.

Seeing that the battle below had essentially ended, he turned unwillingly and fled, transforming into a streak of light.

Fight?

Fight my ass.

In his current condition, if he took another hit from that strange attack, he would definitely die here.

Even if he stayed, the best he could do would be to perish together with these ants below.

Only a fool would make that choice.

He had not lived long enough yet.

---

Betty kicked open the wooden door of Carriage No. 4.

Inside were Bratt Surya and a beautiful maid holding a small knife against his throat.

The maid trembled, her lips quivering as if about to say something.

“Bang!”

A gunshot rang out.

She leaned backward against the carriage wall, her forehead slowly releasing a mixture of gray-white matter and crimson blood.

Betty lowered her gun, grabbed Bratt—whose face was splattered with what looked like tofu pudding and tomato sauce—and dragged him out.

Ignoring his frantic vomiting, she quickly hoisted him over her shoulder and ran toward an open area nearby.

Above that clearing, two small airships were slowly descending.

Suspended beneath them were two off-road vehicles with inflatable shock-absorbing airbags attached to the bottom.

When they reached about half a meter above the ground, the hooks released.

The vehicles dropped freely and landed safely in front of everyone, cushioned by the airbags.

“Quick! Hook them up! Hurry, Sister Wei!”

Everyone hurried to attach the hooks to the two Mecha soldiers.

In the distance, Ujekados State City had already lit up with numerous fires and illumination flares—clearly they had noticed the battle here.

‘Captain, Mechanical Soldiers are rushing out from the other side. We might be running out of time.’

Seeing dozens of Mechanical Soldiers pouring out from the city gate, everyone immediately raised their guns and prepared for combat.

They were not afraid of these soldiers.

What they feared was being delayed inside enemy territory. The longer they fought, the more enemies would arrive.

If they became trapped, things would get troublesome.

“Air support should arrive soon. The airships are armed too. Don’t worry.”

‘Looks like the timing is just right.’

As soon as Betty finished speaking, a strange male voice sounded through their headsets.

A Gringol Gunship Aircraft flew in from the sky, diving toward the distant city.

The nose tilted downward.

Eight inertial rockets mounted under the wings ignited.

After a piercing howl, flames instantly erupted around the city gate.

The aircraft then began circling in a lighthouse spiral maneuver, exposing the side of its fuselage.

A ferocious multi-barrel Gatling autocannon emerged from the side.

Driven by its Magitech Engine, it unleashed a violent storm of ammunition toward the ground.

Dense small-caliber shells instantly tore every Mechanical Soldier within the attack radius into fragments.

Occasional magical attacks launched toward the sky were deflected away by the aircraft’s deflection shield.

Seeing this, Betty finally let out a sigh of relief.

She directed the airships to climb, lifting the two Mecha soldiers away.

Only after the airships reached an altitude of one thousand meters did she signal the others to deflate the airbags, remove them from the vehicles, and drive away.
