If it was before, when Gu Xi was near the Screaming Castle, he would have gone up to claim a good spot and start building a village immediately.

But after experiencing the bone dragon’s battle damage, Gu Xi became more cautious in his actions.

With such a powerful force like five hundred bone dragons could still encounter problems, what if there’s something wrong inside this Screaming Castle.

Now, Gu Xi acts with much more caution.

After glancing at the distance between himself and the Screaming Castle, Gu Xi’s gaze fell on a small plain near the Screaming Castle.

According to Gu Xi’s estimate, it is about three to five kilometers away from the Screaming Castle.

This location is relatively good; from here, the Screaming Castle’s attacks cannot reach, yet one can observe the situation in the Screaming Castle up close.

No matter if there are people inside Screaming Castle or not, Gu Xi can respond immediately.

Moreover, Gu Xi noticed a little unnoticed creek passing through the small plain. Although the water flow is not high, it still counts as a legit water source.

It’s safe to say this is a pretty good location.

If there’s an issue at Screaming Castle and it’s impossible to take it down, this place could serve as a secondary base.

However, the previous enemies were still a bit intimidating, so after some thinking, Gu Xi did not rush in immediately but set up a Garrison Gate in the woods.

Gu Xi now plans to use the Garrison Gate as a last retreat route and set up a section of city walls alongside it.

When deploying the city wall, Gu Xi discovered a situation.

That is, the city wall will automatically merge with its surroundings.

For example, when placing city walls in the woods, they do not just crush the trees like the City Gate, rather they blend in with the trees, even reinforcing the walls using the trees.

This is precisely why the City Gate could be deployed at Level 1 of Death City, while the city wall had to wait until Death City reached Level 8.

This is the current situation; after Gu Xi set up the city wall by the Garrison Gate, it automatically spread around, incorporating some of the nearby trees.

Tree branches and leaves rapidly covered the city wall, making it hard to discern its presence at first glance.

And these city walls did not extend outwards endlessly, instead, they went around, forming a circle enclosing about 10,000 square meters of forest land.

Thus, a temporary small base appeared in the woods.

After encircling this small base, Gu Xi did not rest and immediately dispatched an ordinary hero.

This hero named Thomson was randomly obtained by Gu Xi in an instance, not having any special abilities, unlike the main combat or magic heroes.

However, he is honest, not like Lewis, who despite lacking abilities, fails to see his limits, thinking he is Gu Xi’s only choice.

Thomson, being a hero who can handle matters reasonably, Gu Xi does not fault them for their lack of ability.

For major tasks, one might not think of them, but when someone is truly needed, they are always called upon first.

This time was no different; Thomson, along with seven commanders and their subordinate troops, were directly deployed.

His troops were ordinary undead, around Level 8, numbering about 1,500.

Upon arrival, Thomson approached Gu Xi and raised his head, saying, ”My lord, you called for me.”

”Mm, it’s nothing major, just set up a temporary base here; you are in charge of its security. I don’t care about anything else, I just need you to ensure the base’s safety,” Gu Xi said directly to Thomson.

Just as Gu Xi mentioned, he does not expect Thomson to achieve much within the woods, but he needs him to guard this land well.

If the battles outside don’t go well, Gu Xi has other retreats to consider.

He won’t let his retreat path be cut off.

Thomson understood immediately; he resolutely said, ”Rest assured, my lord, as long as I am here, this place will not fall.”

After securing the retreat, Gu Xi then led his troops out of the woods.

The moment they left the woods, Gu Xi felt as though the distant Screaming Castle came alive, and the whole mountain began to wail.

This feeling was as if a large number of lives were being trapped within this mountain.

However, for Gu Xi, this was a minor scene, unable to capture his attention; he swiftly led his troops to the initially chosen spot.

When deploying the Garrison Gate, Gu Xi had already considered the following plan.

He decided not to attack the Screaming Castle immediately but to secure several important positions first.

Then he would circle the Screaming Castle, cutting off its external contacts.

Afterwards, he would take down the Screaming Castle.

As for building a new village, that can wait until he captures the Screaming Castle.

The first small plain, which Gu Xi eyes now, is his first target, while the reactions from inside the Screaming Castle do not concern him.

During his action, the Screaming Castle remaining still was fine, as Gu Xi laid the encirclement down precisely, allowing the enemies inside to live a few more days.

If they were to act rashly, witnessing Gu Xi build his base and not strike immediately, then pity them.

The troops under Gu Xi’s command excel at field battles.

Although the Bone Dragon Corps suffered serious losses and cannot be deployed for now, Gu Xi still has many organized and unorganized forces.

Most importantly, Gu Xi is an Undead Mage.

In battle, he can replenish his forces.

In battles with others, Gu Xi only grows stronger, never needing to worry about troop numbers.

Thus, without glancing towards the Screaming Castle, Gu Xi led his subordinates directly towards the small plain he had his eyes on.

As Gu Xi rushed forward with his troops, the Screaming Castle also stirred, a large number of strange black creatures flew up from it.

Hearing the buzzing produced by these creatures as they flew, Gu Xi looked over once.

”Ignore them, keep moving forward and swiftly secure the position.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the fastest moving Ghost Scout Squad immediately headed towards the nearby small plain.

Once there, they did not stop to process anything.

After all, camping tasks have nothing to do with them. Gu Xi can deploy a gate and walls; their job is to hold off the enemy, preventing them from approaching the small plain Gu Xi initially targeted prematurely.
