Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Gao Tianwu led seven or eight brothers, boarded the Xiao Guang Express, and left Gaoyuan Village, heading towards the urban area of Tianhai City.

That place was once somewhere they yearned for immensely.

The brothers had always wanted to go there to make their mark; they knew a big city must have more resources, allowing them to survive better.

It’s just that back then, the villagers of Gaoyuan Village pleaded desperately, hoping Gao Tianwu would stay to protect them.

It was Gao Tianwu, mindful of their shared hometown ties, who ultimately chose to remain in Gaoyuan Village.

But now, all that was in the past. They no longer had any worries holding them back, and furthermore, they were now working for Zhang Yi, the king of Tianhai, and could openly and justifiably go to Tianhai City.

”Ribbit—ribbit—ribbit—”

The croaking of the frog echoed along the entire journey.

Each time it leaped high into the air and then landed gently, the sound reverberated across the entire land.

The ability, Frog Croak, would echo upon contact with objects.

Its detection capability for insects was especially sharp.

By this method, the frog could discover prey existing within a target area.

Following behind it, Gao Tianwu and the others could locate the positions of the cockroach swarms.

The group arrived at Aoshan District, a remote, desolate place devoid of people.

Everyone got out of the vehicle. Gao Tianwu took out some food and stuffed it into Xiao Guang’s mouth, which was currently positioned at the front of the vehicle.

Xiao Guang ate voraciously, replenishing his energy.

Gazing at the vast land before him, a surge of heroic spirit welled up in Gao Tianwu’s heart.

”From now on, we will form a new group! This group shall be called the Martial Gate.”

He pointed at the ground beneath his feet. ”We will start right here, laying down our foundation!”

His brothers beside him looked excited, one by one. In their youth, who didn’t hope to achieve merit, establish a career, and make a name for themselves?

Now, amidst this chaotic era, it was precisely the perfect opportunity for them to display their skills.

The frog was utterly uninterested in these things. He was intently polishing his beloved recorder, then rolling around in the snow.

Anyway, with his thick, tough skin, the freezing external temperature was no problem for him.

No matter the time, he was always happy.

Seeing this, Gao Tianwu shook his head helplessly.

”Frog, did you hear any of the many things I just said?”

The frog turned its head to look at him. ”Ribbit! Heard it, heard it. You said there’s lots of food here, right? Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!”

Looking at the frog’s perpetually smiling face, Gao Tianwu felt quite exasperated.

”Alright, let’s start working! We have ten days to cover every corner of the entire Tianhai City!”

Others might not be able to do it, but with their Xiao Guang-brand vehicle, it was completely achievable.

Fuel consumption: two chicken legs per hundred kilometers. It even comes with an autopilot function, is naturally eco-friendly, and its exhaust emissions are green organic fertilizer.

The Martial Gate brothers had all worked in Tianhai City before, so they were relatively familiar with the situation here.

They chose Aoshan District first precisely because it was a poorer area of Tianhai City, with a large concentration of migrant populations and a lot of garbage.

Since cockroaches were proliferating, this was likely the origin point.

”Frog, let’s begin! Use your recorder to attract the cockroach swarms.”

Gao Tianwu said to the frog.

”Ribbit, okay, no problem! Leave this kind of thing to me. Please prick up your ears and listen carefully to my beautiful performance! Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!”

The frog stuffed the recorder into its mouth, then its six fingers moved nimbly over the recorder’s holes.

Standing on the snow, it danced and gestured, looking like a Gypsy performing on the street.

But surprisingly, the music it played was incredibly beautiful.

The melodious tune somewhat intoxicated the Martial Gate brothers.

The graceful, winding melody transformed into waves of sound, spreading across the vast snowy plain, penetrating the thick snow layer and soil, and entering underground.

Not long after, a rustling sound began to emerge from the surrounding ice surfaces, the noise caused by cracks appearing in the ice and snow.

The scene that unfolded next made even Gao Tianwu and the others involuntarily swallow hard.

The originally pristine, flawless-looking snowy plain suddenly erupted with masses of black cockroaches from beneath the snow, surging towards them like a tide.

The frog continued playing its elegant tune, completely unconcerned about the massive cockroach swarm.

The cockroaches also exhibited a strange state, as if immersed in this melodious music, and did not launch an attack on Gao Tianwu and the others.

”Now’s the time!”

Gao Tianwu leaped into the air, landing on top of the Xiao Guang vehicle.

Spreading his arms, a layer of crimson light abruptly erupted across his entire body.

”Whoosh—”

Raging flames instantly ignited upon his form.

”Five Guardians—Maha Guardian, Prajna’s Purity Demon-Cleansing Flame!”

His hands formed a diamond-shaped seal, condensing into an aperture from which surged a massive torrent of flame, like a fire dragon, charging straight towards the cockroach swarm!

The Martial Gate brothers, meanwhile, took out various prepared weapons—all explosives provided by Zhang Yi—and began attacking the cockroach swarm.

The cockroaches, as if having lost consciousness, allowed the Martial Gate members to attack them without the slightest resistance.

These creatures, bred in massive numbers and driven by colony instincts, possessed only the basic drives to feed and reproduce.

The frog was their greatest natural enemy. His ability, Bane of the Swarm, could easily bewitch these brainless, low-intelligence insects.

The frog hopped in place, playing its tune. As the music continued, the emerging cockroach swarm grew denser and denser, covering the entire land.

Gao Tianwu and his brothers exerted their full effort to eradicate them.

A full half-hour later, the entire snowy plain fell silent.

The pitch-black corpses of cockroaches densely covered the entire snowy plain, a sight that made one’s scalp crawl.

At this moment, the frog also stopped playing.

Seeing the ground covered in food, it excitedly clapped its hands.

”Ribbit! Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit!”

”So much food, mmm, smells absolutely delicious!”

It opened its wide mouth, from which a pink tongue shot out—it was actually seven or eight meters long! Who knows how that thing was hidden in its mouth.

With just a casual sweep across the snowy ground, a large number of charred cockroaches entered its mouth.

The frog ate with an expression of utter bliss, making the Martial Gate brothers feel nauseous.

”Does that thing really taste that good?”

Even Xiao Guang couldn’t help but ask.

Although they had a natural aversion to things like cockroaches.

But after the apocalypse, they had tried eating many things that were previously inedible, like rats.

Now their stomachs could tolerate many types of food.

”Maybe... we should try some?”

Xiao Wu thought for a moment, walked over, picked up a cockroach, steeled himself, and directly tossed it into his mouth.

After eating it, he was somewhat surprised to find the texture wasn’t bad.

They didn’t know that within Tianhai City’s three major bases, the manufacturing process for cockroach protein was still preserved.

Once roasted, these cockroaches weren’t actually that different from chicken legs.

Everyone was exhausted, so they sat in a circle, actually picking up the roasted cockroaches and devouring them heartily.

”Cockroaches are such a great thing! If these things had appeared earlier, no one in the village would have starved to death back then.”

”Yeah, speaking of which, why did they suddenly become so numerous? What do they even eat?”

A brother stuffed two cockroaches into his mouth and asked absentmindedly.

But that one question made everyone stop eating.

What do they eat? What else could they eat?

They looked at each other. The only sound left in the air was the frog eating; it seemed to be enjoying its meal immensely.

”Fuck it, who cares!”

After just a moment’s hesitation, everyone started eating again.
