Chapter 706: Chapter 579 Illusion_3

Huai Shi shrugged and took the last available seat in the vehicle.

Next to him sat a somewhat anxious teenage girl in grey. Her armor was covered by a grey cloak, and she clutched her helmet stiffly, not daring to look up at her teacher.

”Nervous?” Huai Shi asked. ”The Director of Affairs told me you signed up, and to be honest, I was kind of shocked.”

”...”

Yuan Yuan kept her head down, fearful that Huai Shi would be angry at her for making the decision on her own.

”What about Little Nineteen?” Huai Shi looked up around the vehicle. ”He should be here too, right?”

”Here, here.”

The person diagonally across hurriedly took off his helmet, revealing a somewhat stiff, enthusiastic smile. ”Do you have any orders for me?”

Looking at that insincere smile, Huai Shi couldn’t help but sigh. ”I guess you must think that if Yuan Yuan signed up and you didn’t, I would hold it against you, right?”

”What are you saying, Teacher? How could I ever think of you that way?” Lin Nineteen exclaimed with a resonant voice, ”It was all my voluntary decision!”

”Is that so? Then make sure you charge to the front later, and I’ll be the Supervisors—”

A chorus of laughter broke out around them.

Lin Nineteen shrank his neck and dared not speak anymore.

”Alright, everyone relax a bit.”

Huai Shi shook his head. ”You’re already on the vehicle; do you think I would kick you off now? Besides, the Director of Affairs told me that in my absence, both of you have done well. I don’t think you’ll be throwing your lives away for nothing.”

August joined in the fun and raised his hand. ”I can vouch for that. Little Brag may be a bit slippery, but he sure can slip away fast. As for the young lady... she hasn’t even had the chance to make a move yet, and I’m rather looking forward to it.”

”If you ask me, it’d be best if they just stayed quietly in the Iron Crystal Throne and remained non-combatants. But once you become Sublimators, how can you escape these things?”

Huai Shi lamented, ”As students, to be willing to join me on the battlefield under such circumstances is already a rare honor for a teacher. So, I won’t say anything harsh. I just hope you understand the dangers involved.”

He said, ”You must protect yourselves well, and don’t be rash like me and rush to the front.”

In the silence, the two students nodded solemnly.

After a moment of thought, Huai Shi scratched his head awkwardly, lowering his voice. ”Also... if you really find the fight unwinnable, just surrender. As long as no one discovers you’re my students, there shouldn’t be a big problem. At worst, you’ll be locked up for a few days. The food in Ivy Prison is quite good; the bread and broth are nourishing. Maybe you’ll even gain a couple of pounds.”

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but become animated. ”The people there speak nicely, everyone is talented, and it’s actually quite interesting...”

Silence fell suddenly. Everyone looked on in astonishment as Huai Shi instructed his students on how to capitulate. They suddenly felt a strong urge to represent the Ivory Tower and execute this traitorous dog on the spot.

What a goddamn Second Fifth.

Is there something wrong with your classroom?

Who on earth teaches their students to surrender right in front of their teammates?!

And even though he knew it was wrong, Huai Shi still couldn’t help hoping that his students would act quickly if they did decide to surrender... He almost wished he could sew a little white flag for each of them to carry.

Of course, I have to look out for my own kids.

It was not easy to have two students; if one were to die, he didn’t know how heartbroken he would be.

But no matter how worried or uneasy he was, he couldn’t drive them off the vehicle.

Ultimately, once someone becomes a Sublimator, who can avoid such a day unless they remain forever in their own little world, maintaining a detached, Buddhist-like perspective?

Huai Shi wasn’t worried about Yuan Yuan’s ability to protect herself. Lin Nineteen, however, lacked direct combat skills. So, Huai Shi could only give him the Sacrificial Knife and instruct him to hang back if possible, act as ranged support, and absolutely not stick his head out.

Then again, he probably didn’t need me to tell him all this.

When it really comes down to running, he’ll definitely be faster than I am.

And so, after a short wait, the vehicle doors slowly closed.

Outside the gates, amidst a rain of blood, a sudden storm swept through. Numerous flames rose steadily, dominating the sky as if to ignite the entire world.

The world was submerged in a sea of blood and fire.

After a long wait, the truck roared to life, charging towards the Hell that lay ahead.

In that moment, all chatter ceased.

In solemnity, they gripped their weapons tightly.

From that moment on, the war that would decide the fate of Hell began.
