The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 366: Magic Used for the Right Reasons

Shien’s blunt words not only stunned the Stalim family but also angered the female knights of the Severed Blade Knights.

“How dare you be so disrespectful to the Princess…!?”

The female knights pointed their weapons at Shien. Some even raised their hands, magic power surging around them, seemingly ready to cast spells.

“Stop!”

Capeline raised her hand, stopping them.

“Princess!”

The female knights seemed unwilling, not understanding why Capeline stopped them.

Capeline said coldly, “You are no match for him. He has plenty of ways to deal with you. Don’t humiliate yourselves.”

Capeline’s words were met with a regretful expression from Shien.

“Actually, you could attack me.” Shien curled his lip and smiled. “After all, there weren’t many spectators last time. This time, the rough guys from the Stalim Duchy’s First Knight Order are all here. Letting them see something you can be proud of would be quite nice, wouldn’t it?”

The members of the First Knight Order looked at each other, confused.

But the female knights of the Severed Blade Knights understood.

Something to be proud of?

What was that?

Obviously, it was their alluring bodies beneath their armor.

With just a snap of his fingers, Shien could destroy all their armor, exposing their bodies.

“So, ladies, did you wear more layers this time?”

Shien’s seemingly kind words made the female knights’ faces pale, their hands trembling as they gripped their weapons.

Especially the two female knights who had been stripped naked by Shien before, their faces were filled with terror.

Last time, being almost completely seen by Shien had already traumatized them. If this time they were exposed in front of everyone, seen by people from the Kingdom, the Empire’s rival, and these people were from the Stalim Duchy’s First Knight Order, who had been guarding the border and preventing the Empire’s invasion, they would definitely kill themselves.

“P-Princess…?”

The female knights looked at Capeline, on the verge of tears, completely at a loss.

Capeline continued to stare coldly at Shien.

“You can choose to hide it.” Capeline said, “But we will consider this as the Kingdom hiding something from us, and the Empire will strongly suspect that the Kingdom is behind this incident.”

Capeline tried to force Shien to explain from a diplomatic standpoint.

But she clearly chose the wrong person.

“That’s funny. Hasn’t the Empire always suspected that the Kingdom is behind this, which is why they sent you here to investigate?” Shien said disdainfully. “If you say so, then I can also say that the Empire orchestrated this incident to frame the Kingdom.”

“You’re saying we’re framing you?” Anger surged in Capeline’s eyes.

“Don’t act like I’m slandering you.” Shien, unfazed by her anger, said with an impassive face, “Everyone witnessed what happened ten years ago. It’s not like the Empire isn’t capable of such a thing. Are you afraid of being slandered?” Ȓ𝘼ŊốΒĘṩ

Capeline’s breath hitched.

The incident Shien was referring to was naturally the large-scale assassination that occurred in the royal capital ten years ago.

On the surface, people only knew that the Kingdom’s capital suffered this tragedy because of the Old Demon Faction’s invasion. Only a few high-ranking officials knew that the Old Demon Faction was able to invade the capital because of the help of spies from the Empire.

That’s right, Shien was referring to the incident with Diere’s mother.

Diere’s mother, Aldia’s wife, a noblewoman who married into the Kingdom from the Empire, was actually an Imperial spy.

Thanks to her, the capital’s barrier didn’t activate in time, allowing the Old Demon Faction to invade freely.

And all of this was orchestrated by the Empire’s high-ranking officials.

But afterwards, the Empire claimed that they hadn’t ordered it and that the noblewoman had acted on her own, that she had fallen and colluded with the Old Demon Faction.

Under such circumstances, the Empire shifted all responsibility, causing the Kingdom to suffer a great loss.

Others might not know the truth, but Capeline, as an Imperial Princess, definitely knew.

Therefore…

“You’ve already done the same thing once. I think it’s quite convincing to claim that you’re trying to do it again.”

Shien smiled at Capeline, but there wasn’t a hint of mirth in his eyes.

Capeline was speechless.

Precisely because she knew the inside story, she couldn’t refute anything.

If it were those qualified politicians, they could probably deny it with an innocent face, but Capeline couldn’t.

Although Capeline was overly persistent, stubborn, and somewhat neurotic, she was a person of high moral integrity, forthright, and righteous.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be called the Valkyrie.

Therefore, Capeline couldn’t refute Shien’s words.

Even though she was only seven years old when that incident happened and it had nothing to do with her, it was indeed orchestrated by the Empire’s high-ranking officials. Capeline had to admit that.

But she couldn’t admit it either, or it would cause big trouble for the Empire.

Therefore, Capeline was speechless, unable to respond.

As for Shien, he didn’t really intend to push the blame onto Capeline and make her a scapegoat.

However, he still wanted to vent some anger for Diere.

Moreover, since Capeline didn’t get along with his wife, Shien didn’t want to give her any face.

“Anyway, I’ve said my piece. You’d better not go in.” Shien said frankly. “Of course, if you want to court death, that’s your business.”

Shien came to warn them, not wanting to involve innocent people, because he was the one who had weakened Lilith’s seal, causing this evil aura to appear.

But if they didn’t heed his warning, Shien wouldn’t go out of his way to protect them.

“Your lives are your own. Make your own choices.”

With that, Shien ignored everyone and turned to face the land of evil ahead.

“Viscount Buztout.”

“Shien.”

Yuri and Lim seemed to want to say something.

However, Shien was no longer in the mood to play with them. He waved at them, then drew the Holy Sword from his waist and slowly walked into the evil aura.

Soon, Shien’s figure disappeared from everyone’s sight.

Seeing this, everyone looked at each other.

“…Let’s go, follow him.”

Capeline was silent for a moment, then spoke without hesitation.

She wouldn’t be intimidated by Shien’s warning.

“Yes!”

The female knights also didn’t want to heed Shien’s advice and responded loudly.

Naturally, the same thing happened on the First Knight Order’s side.

“Trying to scare us? Does he really think he’s someone important?”

Sona scoffed at Shien’s warning.

Yuri and Lim didn’t say anything, but they clearly didn’t believe Shien’s words.

“Let’s go in.”

Yuri ordered as if nothing had happened.

The two knight orders followed their original plan. One deployed a mobile barrier, the other collectively drank magic potions, and then they marched into the land of evil.

This would be the beginning of hell.

…

On the other side, as soon as Shien entered the evil aura, he immediately used a skill on himself.

“[Clear Mind, Still Water].”

This was the skill Shien had acquired earlier to counter Nien’s mind-reading ability.

Using this skill to eliminate distractions and enter a state of tranquility, Shien’s mind and spirit instantly stabilized.

With the help of this skill, the negative emotions that had been stirring within him immediately subsided.

“As expected, this skill is very effective against mental abilities.”

Shien felt relieved.

Since his maxed-out [Abnormal Status Resistance] didn’t seem to be enough to completely resist the evil god’s power, Shien had to rely on other means to prevent himself from going insane.

After all, Shien didn’t want to become a berserker who only knew how to go crazy and bite people.

“Fortunately, this skill is useful. Otherwise, I would have to unseal the Holy Sword and use its power to negate the effects of the negative status.”

Shien muttered to himself and began to walk forward.

Within the evil aura, visibility was extremely low. It was practically pitch black.

The evil aura was like a dense black fog, blocking more than ninety percent of his vision, making Shien feel like he was groping around in the dark.

“[Bestow: X-Ray Vision].”

Shien couldn’t help but use magic, bestowing the ability to see through objects upon his eyes.

This ability allowed Shien’s vision to penetrate various obstacles. Not only black fog, but even walls couldn’t block his sight.

This magic was one of the first Bestowal Magic spells Shien had learned.

As for the reason… ahem, everyone understood.

Since such magic with clear criminal intent was strictly prohibited by various countries, Shien didn’t dare to use it in public normally.

But now, Shien wanted to use this magic for the right reasons. Since there was no one around, he didn’t have to be sneaky.

Shien’s vision finally penetrated the black fog, allowing him to clearly see the scene within the evil aura.

However, upon seeing this, Shien’s expression changed.

He discovered several dark figures silently approaching him.

And his perception skills didn’t react at all.

“Are my perception skills being interfered with by the evil aura and rendered useless?”

Shien instantly understood the reason.

At the same time, the figures lunged at him.
