What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 539: The Mixing Face Off

”Ready?” Valiea asked me as we stood at the entrance that would lead us out towards the stage.

”Not like I have a choice now,” I shrugged.

The doors slid open and the announcerʼs voice came from beyond.

”And here they are! Our two stars of the day! Here for the challenge of the century! May I present to you, the Four Armed Goddess of Bottles Valiea! And challenging her today is someone who has been unknown in the bartending scene so far but has proven themselves to have a chance at dethroning the Goddess! White Mask!”

That was our cue to walk out onto the stage, both of us stepping out at the same time and appearing side by side.

Also, donʼt ask me about the names, I wasnʼt the one who came up with them… Ragbar was the one who came up with those names saying that it would be good for publicity…

Nothing prepared me for the sight of several hundreds thousand people cheering out at the same time the moment we appeared.

The entire place was filled to the brim with people and it looked more like a tidal wave of faces roaring at us.

There were multiple screen projections all around the area that showed various angles of the stage and all of them were currently focused on Valiea and I.

I faltered and Valiea also stopped for a moment before subtly flicking my hand with her finger, prompting me to move again.

Shit… I was so not ready for this…

Ok… just imagine they are all just background noise and part of the scenery…

Funny how I had no problems jumping into the middle of a firefight and killing people but Iʼm getting stage fright here…

I didnʼt even have this problem when I was ʼworkingʼ at Valieaʼs bar the other day…

We separated and stood in front of our respective bars and the announcer once again took over, ”Everyone! The battle of the century will now begin! Are you ready?!”

Cheers erupted once more and the people who were right in front of the stage surged forward in anticipation.

For them to be that riled up… Iʼm guessing the pre show events must have been a pretty big hit to have them already this excited.

”Contestants, take your places!!”

I moved at the same as Valiea, taking my spot behind the bar, my eyes scanning the bottles in front of me to make sure everything was there.

”Ladies and gentlemen… The bartending begins!!”

The cheers drowned out any sounds I could be hearing and I immediately got to work, flipping the bottles that I had identified earlier up into the air while my other hand busied with moving the shakers to the positions I wanted them to.

The announcer was also acting as the commentator where he hyped the crowd up even further.

”White Mask is wasting no time in starting with three continuous bottle flips!! Look at that level of control! Valiea is also not letting up and sheʼs making use of all four of her arms to make multiple drinks at once and it looks like sheʼs already finishing up with shakers!! No!! White Mask is going for the tower pour!! Look at that stack!! She finishes her first batch of drinks ahead of Valiea! Look at the colours! The shine! Outstanding! But what about the taste?!”

I have to give it to that guy, he sure knows how to commentate.

I placed the shot glasses in the receptacle and they disappeared under the table to be transported to the front of the stage where the crowd could then compete to get the drinks the same way as how Valieaʼs bar had done.

Taking that chance to take a peak, I wasnʼt even surprised to see my girls being the first to reach the drinks as they snatched it from the receptacles before returning back to the crowd.

Theyʼre even acting like they secured some kind of treasure too… So cute.

”And there goes Valieaʼs drinks! Even though she was a moment slower, she made more to make up for it! What do our judges in the crowd think?!”

Ah, I shouldnʼt be spacing out now, letʼs start the next batch…

I picked up the next few bottles and I could feel my body moving on its own once again, my hands moving subconsciously as the bottles flew around me while I only needed to think about what I wanted to make before my hands were flying across the counter.

”Whatʼs this?! White Mask is increasing her speed! Has anyone seen this level of skill before?! She is practically doing magic with her drinks! Oh! A wonderful bottle flip there! And an over the shoulder pour!! Ladies and gentlemen, White Mask is on fire!! Thatʼs another batch of drinks already done!!”

I was already moving to make the next batch even before the drinks disappeared into the table, a part of my mind thinking I should try and make something stronger and my body was already moving to obey.

”Valiea is attempting her double spin and flourish! And she even added in a new twist with the twirl! Ladies and gentlemen, we are witnessing her first double spin, flourish and twirl! This is a historic moment!!”

Damn it… Now I want to see what exactly she was doing because heʼs making it sound like some really cool move… But I canʼt take my eyes off my bottles right now…

I focused on my shakers and juggled them in the air, not even consciously thinking about my next move and just letting my body do the tricks instead.

”Insane reactions! Look at those tosses people! Just when we thought that Valiea had the better tricks, White Mask ups the ante with tricks of her own! Just how intense could this get?! Even though White Mask only has two arms, she has no problem keeping up with Valiea!”

Another batch of drinks disappeared into the table before I tried to peek at the crowd below.

I was concerned that the crowd might be like the previous one where they were biased towards me and only wanted Valieaʼs drink but…

”Mine!!”

”No, mine! I called for it first!”

”Hey… Can I have a taste at least?”

”Fuck off! Itʼs all mine!”

”This is so good… I canʼt drink anything else after this…”

”How is this so good?!!”

Oh, looks like I didnʼt need to worry at all.

There were still some who were obviously die hard Valiea fans who were simply sticking to her side of the stage but… I think some of the ones on my side of the stage were people who had tasted my drinks back at Valieaʼs bar.

Seems like I also have some die hard fans now.

I also realised that I was no longer experiencing stage fright since I was fully concentrating on making drinks.

”Oh my god!! Everyone! Valiea is starting to make her Nebula series cocktails!! This has never happened before! Sheʼs really going all out for this competition!!”

So sheʼs really pulling out the big guns on her side eh? From what I remember, the Blue Nebula she mixed for me was apparently a really big deal so assuming she was doing that here… Sheʼs really not holding back this time.

In that case, I should also just try and see if I can do some crazy stuff too~

”What is this?! Has anyone seen this before?!! Just what kind of training has White Mask gone through to be able to do something like that?! Sheʼs attempting a twenty stack pour!! And sheʼs pouring each liquid into her mixer by juggling the bottles?! These tricks are just out of this universe, people! You are seeing this first right here!! Wait… Sheʼs not done?! Sheʼs going to do a twenty five stack next!?

Yeah… Err… Iʼm really just doing all the crazy stunts right now…

At this point, Iʼm really just zoning out and letting my body do whatever it feels like while only thinking about what I want to do from time to time.

I was worried that people might start to get bored after a while but I guess itʼs because both Valiea and I kept increasing the difficulty of our tricks and upping the ante.

When she said that she was prepared to go all out, she really meant it huh?

As I thought, thereʼs no guarantee that I can win this like she had been saying.

Thatʼs why I also need to try my best here.

I did not relax throughout the entire competition and just concentrated on doing the best that I could.

Soon enough, the bell that signified the end of the competition sounded just as I sent the last batch down.

I let out a breath before relaxing, allowing myself to look at the crowd before me.

Ah… I just remembered there were so many people watching me.

I didnʼt do anything embarrassing, did I? I would bury myself if I found out I did in front of so many people…
