What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 526: Machine Better Than Gene

The guy who just punched the power armour away stepped out while cracking his knuckles, looking completely confident of himself.

Guess this guy must have some kind of super strength gene mod or something.

”You fuckers better be ready!! Iʼm going to break open that fucking tin can of yours!!” He shouted at us.

Err… Ok?

I raised up my right arm and blasted my shotgun at him, the pellets blasting open a hole in his chest.

Seems like his super strength didnʼt give him bullet invulnerability.

To his credit, he didnʼt get blown away like the others and only skidded back a few metres before stopping, his feet creating a trail on the ground.

He looked down at his chest in shock, as though not comprehending how that hole appeared there before he fell forward to crash face first into the ground.

Idiot.

I turned back to look at the guy who got punched, ”Youʼre not dead are you?”

A muffled groan came from the power armour before he pushed himself up.

”Iʼm fine… It didnʼt actually hit me,” He groaned.

Iʼm guessing he meant the punch only dented the armour but didnʼt hit his flesh directly.

Seeing that he was fine, I immediately turned back to continue advancing but even more thugs suddenly jumped out, this time even I could tell they were Gene modded because of how different they looked.

One of them even had wings sprouting from his back with his hands ending in claws and the guy beside him literally has a horse head…

Damn… After seeing so many Cyware mods, itʼs weird to see Gene mods instead…

More Mercs joined us and they looked at the Gene modded group warily.

”Seems like they werenʼt kidding when they said this group Gene Splices their members…” One of them muttered.

Yeah… If I remember correctly, Gene Splice mods are more expensive so most people can only afford Cyware mods instead.

For this group to have this many Gene Splice mods despite being on the second ring… Either they are smuggling them, using illegal Gene Mods…

Or they have some kind of sponsor who is sponsoring their Gene Splicing…

Like, one of the station administrators for example…

Iʼm half sure that these guys belong to the last category on that list.

”Doesnʼt change anything! Fire at will!” One of the Mercs shouted without warning.

Hey? Who put you in charge? I fire whenever I want, ok?

Everyone started shooting at the crowd of thugs and they also returned fire, some of them literally shooting fire out of their mouths at us.

Damn, thatʼs cool… But Amber is still cooler though. Or rather sheʼs hotter. Heh.

Anyway, I simply blasted them with my minigun and shotgun combo so it wasnʼt really a big deal. Like heck, my shield could protect me from the flames too so I literally just ignored it as they tried to blast with fire while I took aim with the shotgun and blew their heads apart.

Our side wasnʼt even doing that badly either since we have Mercs who were quite heavily Cyware modded and they had arsenals of their own.

It seems like one of the common mods they had was giving themselves an in built grenade launcher in their arms so they were flinging grenades at the thugs from a safe distance and blowing them up.

Right as I was thinking that Gene mods were pretty useless in a fight, there was a loud crash and I looked up to see a giant piece of a wall flying towards us.

My first instinct was to try and move out of the way but then I realised I was wearing power armour… I should be able to tank it, right?

The other Mercs had scattered so I was alone in the impact zone which meant that I didnʼt need to worry about others getting involved, which is why…

I reached up my hands with my gun barrels retracted, right as the wall came crashing down on top of me.

I felt the recoil from the wall falling on top of my hands but it didnʼt feel that heavy and I managed to lift it up above my head.

Bracing my foot behind me, I threw the wall back at the thugs, which was where I found out who threw the wall in the first place.

And… I have to say… Thatʼs quite a sight… Just what kind of Gene mods does this guy have?

There was this really old classic game where you are left for dead, and thereʼs zombies in it if I remember correctly. One of the enemies you face is called a tank… This guy looks exactly like that thing.

Well, ok, not exactly, he doesnʼt look like a zombie but his upper body was a huge mass of muscle and his head was disproportionately small compared to the rest of his body.

”Fucking Mercs! Iʼll kill all of you!!” He shouted.

Oh, he can talk too. I actually expected him to just growl and roar or something.

And heʼs also running towards us on his two legs instead of shambling with his knuckles like a gorilla.

Ah wait, heʼs charging right at us isnʼt he?

I raised up my right arm again and fired a shotgun blast at him, fully expecting it to blow holes in his body.

Unexpectedly, the pellets struck him on the arm which left a particularly nasty bruise but it did not penetrate his skin.

Fuck, this guyʼs bullet proof? No, not only bullet proof, but those pellets are supposed to even be able to penetrate through actual tank armour at this range you know?

Ah fuck, heʼs now heading straight for me because I fired at him…

He charged straight at me as he lifted up a fist to punch at me.

”Ries?!” I asked through our comms, believing that she is watching what is happening through her personal terminal.

”My machine wonʼt lose to some idiot that got strong on drugs!! Get him, Boss!!”

Thatʼs all I needed to hear!

I retracted the gun barrels and clenched my fist before punching at that roided up guy.

Our fists met in the centre and a shockwave blasted out from the impact.

Thanks to the power armourʼs shock absorbers, I barely felt the recoil and I managed to hold my ground.

In fact, I think there was something moving along my arm because there was a secondary force that punched my fist forward once more, pushing the guy back and breaking the stalemate in my favour.

Haha! As expected of Ries! Take that you dumb brute! My catgirl mechanic builds machines stronger than you can ever be with those stupid Gene mods!!

Ah… No offense, Mara.

He stumbled back, clearly not expecting to lose a contest of strength.

The melee type power armour let out a warcry and charged towards the tank guy, probably thinking he could take him on since I managed to repel him.

Well… The tank thug simply smacked the guy away almost like an afterthought with the back of his hand, like how you might smack a fly away.

That tank guy didnʼt even look in the direction of the guy he smacked away and just charged straight at me once again.

I raised up my own hands and punched at him, knocking him away just like I did the first time.

This time he recovered quickly and tried to throw a hook at me.

I took a step back to avoid it before moving past his guard to deliver an uppercut under his chin.

He got knocked up into the air and I got to watch him fly backwards to crash onto the ground flat on his back. The force of the fall was enough to leave a crack on the ground at where he had hit it.

I thought that would have done him in but he was already trying to push himself back on his feet.

Seriously? That wasnʼt enough to knock you out? This guy really is built like a tank…

As I was getting ready to continue our brawl, Riesʼs voice came from inside my suitʼs speakers.

”Boss! Boss! Donʼt forget about your Energy Wave Blades!”

Oh right… I wonʼt lie, I actually forgot about those.

”Ahhhh!! Fucking die!!!” The roided thug roared, charging towards me again.

I dodged his wild punches and waited for an opportunity as he overextended himself trying to throw a jab.

I sidestepped him before raising my left hand and activating the blade, the sword materialising right as I slashed my hand down on his outstretched arm.

I felt almost no resistance as the blade cut through his arm like hot knife through butter, the limb slicing clean off even as he tried to retract his arm.

”Arrgghhh!! My arm!! You fucker! You mother fucker!! Iʼm going to tear that stupid helmet off and--”

I slashed my energy sword across his neck, slicing through muscle and bone and sending his head flying into the air.

His body remained standing for just a moment before it fell backwards with a loud crash, his head bouncing beside it.

Hmm… Neat. You really outdid yourself with this suit, Ries.

Now… Where were we in killing these thugs again?
