What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

The game went on for a few more rounds and I seem to be winning every hand I had.

That’s not to say that I won every round of course because I also folded on some of them.

It basically made it look like I was only playing on rounds that I had a chance of winning and the other four players quickly caught on to that.

That meant that eight times out of ten, they folded if I chose to play which really limited my winnings by quite a bit.

Mara was also winning a lot though it wasn’t for every hand since she either folded or lost a few of them. While she knew about the cards her opponent had, she could not predict what cards would appear on the table until they were flipped.

There were quite a number of times where she lost because the river was the card that gave her opponent the victory and if it wasn’t for that, she would have won.

Thus, even though my winning streak was practically at a hundred percent, Mara actually won more chips than I did.

Right now, I was watching Mara rake in her newest win to bring her total chips to fourteen thousand chips while I was at eight thousand chips.

The Merc looked at his now destitute pile of chips and let out a curse before pushing himself back from the table.

”I’m done,” He declared, gathering up the remains of his chips before leaving.

The other three seemed to hesitate for a moment, probably considering if they should try to see if their luck would change or cut their losses.

In the end, they decided to join the Merc and picked up what was left of their chips before leaving as well.

That left only Mara and I being the only remaining players at the table.

Obviously there was no point in continuing this game since we were on the same side and it didn’t look like anyone was going to join this table either.

I was preparing to leave when a woman dressed in a suit flanked by two large men appeared in front of us to block our way.

Oh great… Let me guess, they’re going to accuse us of cheating or something and then hold us somewhere.

”Dear guests… Please forgive my rudeness but may I ask if you might be interested in following me for a moment?”

I raised my eyebrow at her, ”What do you want from us?”

”We would just like to invite dear guests for a chat.”

Yeah… Like maybe interrogate us on whether we’re cheating or not, right?

I was just about to reject it when Mara placed a hand on my shoulder, prompting me to turn back to her.

She gave me a look before nodding her head once.

Huh… Well, if she says so.

I turned back to the woman, ”Alright then, lead the way.”

She gestured towards the back, ”If you would just follow me, dear guest.”

She started walking towards the back of the room while Mara and I followed behind her. The two men moved behind us to box us in, clearly to block our escape route.

I’m still wondering why Mara would agree to follow them but I trust her since she must have read their minds and knew that we would be safe.

We were led to the back and we turned past a few slot machines that blocked off our sight of the rest of the gambling den until we reached a dead end.

Incidentally, all the slot machines here were turned off for some reason.

Were they going to question us here?

I was just about to ask what she wanted until she took out a card from her jacket to tap it on a specific part of the wall.

The wall then slid open, revealing it to be a secret lift and I immediately had a bad feeling about this.

I turned to raise an eyebrow at Mara but she gave me a nod so I stepped through the doorway and into the elevator after the woman.

Only one of the men followed us while the other one remained outside despite there still being space for him, so I guess he was keeping watch.

The door closed and the lift began to descend, stopping just after a few seconds with a soft ’ding’.

When the door opened again, it felt like I had stepped out into another place.

While the gambling den above was by no means in shambles, it wasn’t exactly really luxurious either. IT was basically just a decently decorated and sized gambling den.

But when the doors opened, I found a place that was almost similar to the casino back at Linc Pleasure Station.

It was certainly not as big as Linc’s but the place had carpet flooring, detailed wall decorations, expensive looking sculptures and artwork, and an even larger array of games.

The clientele here was also clearly different as everyone was way better dressed than the people in the previous hall.

”We would like to cordially welcome dear guests to the VIP section of our Gambling Paradise,” The woman gestured to the casino.

”Gambling Paradise?” I repeated.

She nodded, ”This is the official name of it.”

”Ok… Any reason why this place was kept a secret instead of being open to everyone?”

”Only specific clientele are allowed here, dear guests.”

That doesn’t really answer the question…

Mara leaned over, ”She meant that only people with certain amounts of Credits are allowed to be here, Captain.”

Right…

I’m surprised the four from before weren’t allowed in here then, since they seemed to have quite a lot of chips but I guess it wasn’t enough or something.

I nodded at the casino, ”So what’s different here as compared to the one above?”

The woman straightened herself, ”I am glad you asked, dear guest. For one, the stakes here are higher and the upper limit for bets is also higher. Secondly, we provide more services for our guests while you are enjoying your time here for a very modest price. Thirdly, your safety is assured as this place is directly managed by the Silatro Syndicate so no one would dare to cause trouble here lest they incur their wrath.”

Silatro Syndicate? I’m guessing it’s one of the bigger gangs in this station like the Rattlers or something. Maybe they specialise in gambling dens?

”Do the chips system still apply here?” I asked.

”Yes. It is universal for all gambling dens managed by the Silatro Syndicate. Which brings me to my next point.”

She reached into her coat before pulling out a pair of black cards, ”These cards will identify you as VIPs of our establishment and you will be granted access to our VIP gambling dens. Please accept them.”

I took them from her and gave it a look.

The card itself was cool to the touch and it felt like it was made of metal but it wasn’t that heavy.

I nodded at her, ”Thanks. Is there anything else we should know?”

”Yes. Please refrain from starting any fights or else your membership will be revoked and do know that there is an entrance fee of ten chips whenever you enter the VIP section to make use of the amenities. As this is your first visit, this will be complimentary.”

Damn, there’s an entrance fee to this place? Then why the hell can’t we just stay outside instead of here? The amenities better be worth it…

”Does dear guest have any other questions?” The woman asked.

”None that I can think of at the moment.”

”Very well. In that case, may I ask if you prefer men or women?”

That’s a rather odd question to ask but I guess I’ll just be honest here, ”Women.”

She nodded, ”In that case, please wait here. A staff member will arrive to give you an introductory tour shortly. We hope that you enjoy your time here.”

She then turned around and left, leaving Mara and I standing there by ourselves.

Was she asking my preferences on who to guide us around?

I turned to Mara, ”I don’t get what’s the point of making this place separate from the above section though?”

Mara smiled at me, ”They tout their security to us but it really is just a way to monitor everyone here better, Captain. My guess is that they were alarmed by how well we were doing upstairs and wanted us to play down here instead so that they can check if we’re actually cheating.”

”So why did we even agree to come here?”

”That’s because the VIP benefits she talked about were real and if we refused, they would have sent people to watch us anyway so we might as well just take advantage of what they are offering.”

Fair enough I suppose.

”Greetings dear guests! I am your guide for today, you may call me Ingrid!” A voice called out.

I turned to see a shapely woman with her red hair tied up in a ponytail greeting us with a bright smile.

What I noticed however, was the fact that she was wearing a reverse bunny suit with nothing but heart shaped pasties covering her sexual parts.

…

Ok, I see why they charge you ten chips to enter here now.
