What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

”Are Psionics all so overpowered?” I whispered to Amber.

She giggled, ”Ehehehe~ Why do you think they single handedly managed to make the entire USC concede and create a noble caste just for them? Once the government tried to bombard them from orbit and they simply reflected the shells back into space and tore up the fleet sent there to hunt them.”

Ok… Point taken…

Mara continued to lead the way with a relaxed gait, not even concerned that there might be more ambushes on the way.

Amber was also acting the same way as she was busy rubbing her face on my arm than actually paying attention to our surroundings.

As for me… It felt quite odd for me not to be on guard while in an enemy base so I still held on to my shotgun just in case.

Not like it matters since we were literally just walking down the middle of the hallway so if anyone wanted to shoot us, we wouldn’t have much cover.

We reached the end of the hall without anyone else popping up and the door was closed shut.

I was about to offer to help hack open the door again when Mara simply pointed her palm at it before closing it into a fist.

There was a loud crumpling sound that was followed by the sound of electrical sparks coming from the door.

Mara then slid her hand to the side and the door slid open, revealing the locking mechanism of the door had been completely crushed.

Damn… This is so cool…

Right as she walked in, I suddenly had a really bad feeling and my instinct prompted me to reach out and pull Mara back while my other hand grabbed on to Amber before jumping back.

I didn’t even know why I did it but I ended up doing the right thing because a split second later, something dropped down in front of the door and it exploded.

I turned around and shielded the both of them with my body, making use of my personal shield to block the shrapnel from what I assumed to be from the grenade.

As the smoke died down, I looked back at the room to see a charred ground with scratches along the walls from where the shrapnel had struck.

Damn… So they even trapped the room expecting Mara to go in there or something?

I looked down to check if the two of them were ok and I found both Amber and Mara looking up at me with a weird look on their faces.

I was just about to panic thinking that they were actually hurt when Amber suddenly blurted out, ”Take me, Tera!”

What the hell are you… Wait, why is Mara blushing too. Really? Just from that? Are both of you masochists or something?

”Umm… Thank you, Tera… For saving me… I apologise for endangering you like that,” The doctor muttered.

I got up from them, ”Ah, that’s alright. I’m just glad that you’re both unharmed. Although… It looks like whoever set this up really wanted you dead, huh?”

That seemed to shake Mara out of her stupor as she turned back to frown at the trap we just got away from.

”No… I would have survived that… Just most likely knocked out from trying to protect myself.”

I blinked at her, ”Wait… You can survive a grenade blowing up in your face?”

”Yes. For Psionics… We have an instinctive ability to protect ourselves when in danger by creating a psionic field around us. But that takes a lot of mental strength so I would most likely survive such a blow but I would be knocked out afterwards.”

”Hmm… That means they’re trying to capture you then?”

She sighed, ”Yes… They are.”

Ok, so she already knows their goal.

I went over to the booby trapped room and peered inside, only to see that the entire room was empty. It seems like they really left this room as a booby trap and nothing else I see.

”It’s empty,” I announced.

Mara clucked her tongue, ”This place really was a trap… That means the things I want are either non-existent or it’s on the bridge.”

I nodded in the direction of the stairs, ”Shall we get a move then?”

Amber stood up from the ground and dusted herself, ”What are we really looking for though? Why can’t we just blow this place up already?”

Mara hesitated, ”I… Need to know what they know about me. Then I can make preparations for it.”

”Makes sense… Although you could… Wait, nevermind. Let’s just go check out the bridge first.”

Mara took point again and this time Amber also took out her guns and started following after her cautiously instead of holding my arm.

I guess now it’s serious.

I took position on her right flank and advanced towards the stairs, keeping my gun barrel trained at the corners in case someone jumps out from there.

Nothing happened on the way there and we managed to climb up the stairs to reach a door that should open up to the bridge.

The door was locked once again and I got ready to hack it but Mara stopped me with a raised hand.

”Hold on… I believe they set up another trap behind this. Just in case, hide yourselves first.”

I raised an eyebrow, ”Will you be alright? What if there’s even more explosives behind that door this time?”

”I wasn’t expecting it the last time but now that I am, they wouldn’t be able to pull off the same trick. Besides… I can feel… Twelve people inside there.”

”You can hear their thoughts from here?”

”Fufu~ I’m not that strong of a Telepath, Tera. To be able to read someone’s thoughts, I must have line of sight. But I can at least feel their consciousness in there so I know that they’re there.”

”Right… So once you open the door, they’re going to open fire on you?”

”I don’t believe they are trying to kill me. They should also be under orders to try and capture me alive. The person I believe is responsible for this should also want me alive rather than dead.”

Well… Since she’s so sure…

I looked at Amber and she just shrugged before nodding her head.

Both Amber and I went ahead to hide behind the doorway on each side while Mara stood in front of the door.

She sucked in a breath before pointing her palm at the door and concentrating.

There was a metallic groan before the door was suddenly ripped out of the door frame as it was crushed into a ball.

Her hand then thrusted forward, sending the crushed door flying into the room with a loud crash.

Then, with her chin tilted up, she strolled into the room fearlessly, looking like she was there to file a complaint to the manager.

Heck, she even stopped in the middle to cross her arms and shout, ”Get out here you bastards! I know you’re hiding!”

All at once, several men popped out from around the room to train their guns on her, though none of them fired.

”Hmph. If you don’t want to die, drop your weapons and surrender. Otherwise, I will crush all of your heads right now.”

One of the smugglers snorted, ”I think it’s you who should surrender, girl… Psionic or not, you won’t be able to deal with this.”

”I know you need me alive, but I have no qualms in killing you. This is your last warning.”

”I see… Very well.”

There was a soft click and then I heard something hissing from above.

When I peeked inside the room, I saw Mara looking up with wide eyes before lifting her hands overhead.

Right then, a gigantic block of metal dropped down from above, its size easily five times the size of the crates Mara had thrown in the cargo bay earlier.

It slowed down to a stop right above her but she had sunk to a knee just to stop it from falling on top of her. Your next chapter is on freewebnovel

The way that her hands were shaking as well showed that she was struggling to keep it up to prevent it from falling on top of her.

”As we were told… Seems like this is your limit in how much you can lift with your telekinesis. With that thing on top of you, you wouldn’t be able to concentrate on using your Psionic abilities anywhere else, right? Go knock her out.”

I had a split second to wonder how they would take her alive if they were going to knock her out since she would get crushed but decided it didn’t matter as I looked at Amber to give her a nod.

Both of us rushed into the room and I fired at the first guy I saw before diving towards the left, Amber doing the same as I did but going to the right instead.

Hold on, Mara! This time I’m saving you!
