Chapter 364: Making Preparations: An unwanted Visitor from the Eastern Camp

Ever since he heard the number of the enemy army, Gabriel had dismissed all thoughts of confronting them head on, as that would result in severe losses on his side.

Even with him present, the casualties would still be very high, which was why he had been thinking about a plan for quite some time.

Fortunately, he had come up with one. Everyone present looked at him with inquisitive expressions, waiting to hear what he had to say.

Gabriel did not reveal the plan yet. Instead, he took a quick scan around the area. They were out in the open, and currently several players could be seen lingering around the corners of the camp.

Anything said here would be updated on the forum within mere seconds.

”When I get back, I will inform everyone. For now, you should all focus on rebuilding the camp,” he finally said as he walked out of their midst.

However, before he left, he suddenly paused and turned to Sniperbowlegend.

”What about BrawlerX?”

He had not seen the large tank for quite a while. Considering that he had told the latter to stay behind along with Sniperbowlegend to watch the camp while he headed into the tower, it felt strange.

”He has some real life problems,” Sniperbowlegend replied. ”It appears his mother is seriously ill, so he has not had time for games.”

That made a lot of sense. Gabriel realized that he had almost forgotten that these people had alternate lives and personal problems they needed to handle.

He had been so immersed in this world, and because he was constantly seeing the likes of Sniperbowlegend, Ragnarok99, and Bunny, he had forgotten that not everyone could escape reality as easily as him.

”All right then. He can take all the time he needs,” Gabriel said as he walked away.

Unknown to him, when the others heard those simple words, it subtly changed the way they viewed him once again.

Some even thought that he was not as cold hearted as the ruthless image he usually projected.

”Master, can I follow you?” Anna called out.

”No. Stay and help with the camp.”

With that, he was already gone, leaving nothing but a small cloud of dust behind.

Anna was visibly annoyed, and it showed clearly on her face.

Swish! Swish!

Two figures dashed across the wilderness, generating a storm of dust in their wake.

Naturally, the two were Gabriel and Seraphina.

There was a quiet competition between them as they tried to overtake one another.

”This human... he is actually keeping up with me so easily,” Seraphina frowned inwardly. ”I really have grown weak.”

Currently, she was not only visible to Gabriel, she was also in her true form, which was why a miniature storm followed in her wake.

When he had asked why she decided to use her true form, she explained that it allowed her to use her full potential. There was only so much she could do while remaining invisible.

After about an hour of nonstop running, the two finally slowed down when they sighted a group of monsters in the distance, gathered around a small patch of grass.

Upon closer inspection, they appeared to be hyenas with barely any fur on their bodies. Their eyes were pitch black, and they were feeding on the remains of a massive monster whose features neither Gabriel nor Seraphina could discern, as the corpse had already been torn beyond recognition.

[Mutated Savage Hyena Lv.30]

The level did not excite Gabriel, but he did not care. All he hoped for was that they would drop decent loot that could benefit his troops.

In total, there were about thirty mutated hyenas or possibly even more. It was difficult to tell since they were all huddled together.

Soon, the leader, which was noticeably larger and more muscular, sniffed the air once, then twice. It finally raised its head and looked directly in their direction.

Immediately, its expression twisted into rage.

As if sensing their leader’s hostility, the others slowly stopped feasting and turned toward the intruders.

”Now we have their attention,” Seraphina smirked.

Howllll!

The lead mutated hyena roared as it charged toward the humans, who seemed too scared to move from their spot, at least that was what the pack believed.

Seraphina could swear she saw a cruel smile appear on the leader’s face, similar to that of a predator spotting defenseless prey.

Gabriel’s expression remained calm and unreadable, giving the monster the impression that he was too frightened to even draw a weapon.

The lead mutated hyena closed the distance in an instant, jaws wide open, rows of jagged teeth glistening with saliva as it lunged for his neck.

At the very last second, he raised his hand.

Slap!

The sound was sharp and violent, echoing across the plains like a thunderclap.

The impact landed squarely on the side of the hyena leader’s face.

Its massive body was sent flying sideways as if struck by a speeding truck, bones cracking loudly midair. Teeth scattered across the ground, its jaw caving in at an unnatural angle as blood sprayed through the wilderness.

The monster tumbled end over end before crashing several meters away, skidding helplessly across the ground.

[Ding! You have killed Level 30 Hyena!]

For a brief moment, the battlefield fell into complete silence.

The remaining hyenas froze, but only for a second. Their survival instincts kicked in, fear instantly replacing hunger.

One by one, they began to retreat, tails tucked between their legs as they fled in different directions.

”Tsk... running already?” Seraphina muttered with a disappointed sigh. She lifted a single finger and waved it casually.

Crimson light condensed in the air around her, forming dozens of sharp blood projectiles that hummed ominously.

They shot forward in the next instant.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The fleeing hyenas did not even have time to howl.

The blood spikes pierced through their bodies cleanly, pinning some to the ground while others were skewered mid leap. Their movements ceased instantly as lifeless corpses collapsed across the grass.

Even before the two could say another word, a series of claps followed by a voice echoed from a distance.

Clap! Clap!

”That was quite impressive!”

Both Gabriel and Seraphina paused instinctively, their defensive instincts flaring instantly.

The reason for their tension was simple.

Whoever this person was had managed to sneak close to them, bypassing their high perception and awareness without being detected.
