The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Little Taotie looked at the dumbly-cute Little Beast Bai Bai, then at the War God running far away, suddenly enlightened: ”So the War God is tone-deaf!”

Little Beast Bai Bai tilted its head at Little Taotie: ”What’s tone-deaf?”

”Can’t hit the five tones, singing off-key.”

”Can’t hit the five tones? It was obviously very nice!”

”Are you serious?”

”I think it sounds great, it’s the best song I’ve ever heard!”

”I’ll sing it once for you.”

Little Taotie coughed twice, cleared her throat, and with her soft baby voice sang the real melody.

Little Beast Bai Bai wrinkled its brows, its expression changed, but it still tried hard to endure.

When Little Taotie finished singing, she asked, ”Well? Do you still think he sings well now?”

Little Beast Bai Bai stiffened its neck: ”Of course, he sings the best!”

Little Taotie doubted her own ears, in disbelief: ”Did you mishear, or did I mishear, and you actually meant to say I sing the best?”

”Of course not! Your singing is so-so.” Little Beast Bai Bai’s gaze wandered all over the place.

Little Taotie huffed angrily: ”What’s wrong with you, can’t you tell I’m the one on-key?”

”I’ve only heard you two sing. I don’t know what the original tune is supposed to be like. Now that I’ve heard you both, I just feel like he sings better!” As Little Beast Bai Bai talked, it convinced itself, lifted its head, and sounded even more righteously confident.

”You’re being unreasonable!” Little Taotie was so mad her face flushed red.

Little Beast Bai Bai kept its neck stiff: ”I’m just speaking from the heart!”

The person and the beast glared at each other.

After a long stalemate, Little Beast Bai Bai’s stomach growled.

Feeling hungry was something Little Taotie, as a ”Little Ghost,” didn’t experience.

”I’m done arguing with you. Ghost, you can go. I’m going to eat.” Little Beast Bai Bai waved its little paw goodbye and turned to leave.

Little Taotie chased after it: ”I’m not a Ghost.”

”Oh, then you’re a Fierce Ghost?”

”No!”

”Then what the heck are you?”

”I’m Little Taotie!”

”Hahahaha...” Little Beast Bai Bai laughed so hard it bent over backwards, its white little belly heaving up and down.

”No laughing!”

”This is the funniest joke I’ve ever heard! You’re clearly a person. Even though I can’t see your face clearly, you should be a little girl. How could you possibly be Taotie? Do you even know what Taotie looks like?”

Little Beast Bai Bai spun in place once, showing off: ”Look! Like me! Covered in shiny white fur! Awooo! And a mouthful of sturdy teeth—I can eat lots and lots of things!”

”I can also eat lots and lots of things!”

”I don’t believe you, shall we compete?”

”I can’t eat right now, I have to wait until I wake up from the dream, then I can eat.”

”Wake up from the dream?” Little Beast Bai Bai clenched its little paws: ”Are you trying to fool me?”

”No.” Little Taotie sighed: ”How should I explain this to you... I can only say you’re in my dream. For now I don’t know if the dream world is real or fake, but I feel like it should be something happening in another timeline, something that truly exists.”

”I’m in your dream?”

”Yes. And I even know future events: you’ll die and be placed in an Ice Coffin. I’ll help you awaken, but only after I’ve done lots and lots of Merit, collected the Power of Merit and the Power of Faith, so your Primordial Spirit can be repaired and you can wake up. Actually, there’s another possibility, which is... I am you, and you are me, just in different timelines, different reincarnations.”

Little Beast Bai Bai stared wide-eyed: ”Do you take me for an idiot?”
