Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

With a man like this by her side, Charlotte Miller felt completely uncomfortable, while Atlas Hallow seemed as if he were in his own restaurant, acting with complete disregard for others’ gazes.

Such a banquet naturally had some entertainment arranged, and would also invite some guests to come up for interaction.

Initially, only some small items were auctioned—oil paintings by modern authors, and some unique jewelry. In any case, the main event hadn’t started yet.

Before the most important items went up for auction, the host had already changed into an evening gown, standing in the middle of the stage with a bright smile announcing the start of the game segment: ”Next, our game requires a gentleman with a height advantage to help us complete it...”

At such a banquet, Atlas Hallow was undoubtedly the one with the most height advantage. Charlotte turned the thought over in her mind; she remembered Atlas being either 187 or 189 cm. Over time, her memory was a bit blurred.

But Atlas didn’t seem to hear what was being said on stage at all. Instead, he picked up a green vegetable and a flower mushroom soaked in abalone sauce from the small bowl of carp rice brought by the waiter and placed it into Charlotte’s bowl.

”From my perspective, President Hallow seems to perfectly meet our requirements. I wonder if President Hallow could come up and help with our little game.” The host invited with a bright smile.

This could no longer be described as awkward; if Atlas had only served her food once, it would have been a bit awkward. Now, he kept serving her food, as if it had become something that was supposed to happen.

Only someone like Atlas, who wasn’t afraid of others’ gazes and had a strong aura, could dissolve such awkwardness into invisibility.

”Don’t you like eating rice? How can you fight with me if you’re not full?” Atlas looked at Charlotte’s bowl, noticing that she hadn’t touched the abalone rice. He remembered that she loved rice and often couldn’t get enough with just one bowl.

”Fighting with you uses brains, not physical strength.” Charlotte was almost going insane. This man seemed to be teasing her. If it were a real fight, eating ten bowls wouldn’t help at all, right?

His abnormal physical prowess—who could withstand that?

In reality, she could easily defeat him with anything.

The dreadful financial storm that was about to arrive was just a game he played with her.

Except this game was played with real money, hard cash.

At this moment, the beautiful host smiled as she called Atlas Hallow’s name for the second time: ”President Hallow, could you come up and play a game, contributing to charity...”

This kind of request was generally difficult for anyone to refuse; after all, it was just a game.

Atlas noticed the focus of the whole audience was on him, and even Charlotte seemed to have become the focus. She seemed even more hesitant to eat.

His deep eyes lifted, like a layer of frost sweeping coldly across the stage, his low voice rising through the air: ”I can’t...”

Such a refusal was straightforward enough to leave the beautiful host momentarily stuck, unable to step down from the stage.

She had hosted many large and small events and had never encountered such an embarrassing situation before.

It was just a small game, and yet he refused, and this was a charity banquet, after all.

Charlotte awkwardly smiled, tugging on Atlas’ clothes, murmuring softly: ”It’s just a game.”

But Atlas was unmoved, saying: ”I don’t want to play games with other women, but being with you is no problem. Will you play with me?”

Charlotte’s lips curved into a charming smile, her voice lower than Atlas’, as she spoke in a tone as sweet as honey: ”No way...”

The renowned host was not just famous for nothing; she quickly found an excuse for herself, and the banquet continued. Charlotte casually auctioned one or two small items because all proceeds were to be donated to charity, and since she was already there, it was inevitable to spend a little.

This seemed to be an unwritten rule for attending charity banquets.

Yet Atlas hadn’t even glanced at the auction items, merely engaging in a quiet conversation with Charlotte.

It looked deceptively intimate, and Charlotte felt a bit annoyed to her bones.

What was he doing? His actions seemed to suggest to everyone that they had a different kind of relationship.

At this moment, several people sitting opposite, as if agreed upon, raised their glasses together toward Atlas, saying: ”President Hallow, this seems to be a good thing coming. Everyone knows that the female president of Howard Enterprise is beautiful and capable, and it seems you’ve brought her under your command. We should definitely have a drink for this...”

A flash of displeasure passed through Charlotte’s eyes, almost unnoticed.

Currency City had officially been renamed to Howard Enterprise upon her return, and her taking the helm of Howard Enterprise was well known.

While everyone assumed Charlotte was involved with the Baird brothers, Atlas’ move clearly stated that he was the man closely connected to Charlotte.

Atlas’ mouth curved into a sensual smile as he said nothing more, raising his glass and downing it in one go.

”Shouldn’t President Miller have a drink too?” another bigwig gestured with his glass toward Charlotte. She was about to reluctantly lift her glass when Atlas stopped her.

”She doesn’t like drinking, I’ll do it for her.” With that, he took the glass from her hand and downed it in one go again.

”President Hallow is truly straightforward...”

”Winning the beauty, you should drink well. Let’s arrange a gathering next time, and we’ll drink till we drop...”

Charlotte took her own glass back from Atlas’ hand, mockingly retorting: ”Who said I don’t like drinking?”

This clearly slapped Atlas in the face, yet he replied indulgently: ”My mistake, if you like drinking, then have a bit more.”

As he spoke, the intoxication in his eyes was deeper than the wine, almost melting hearts.

For heaven’s sake, if this man truly decided to flirt with a woman, who could resist?

Charlotte slowly sipped her drink, the light shining on her face revealing a faint blush, the wine coursing her veins enhancing the scent of roses emanating from her.

Atlas accompanied her like this, drinking one glass after another...

The climax of the banquet was with the final auction item, and there was no doubt that Atlas spent a high price to win it. No one else competed to raise a bid, for among those present, no one could produce more than Atlas.

The entire charity banquet, although it had a few minor interludes, ended successfully and with much delight. The host seemed unaffected, still chatting and laughing as she came over to greet Atlas.

”President Hallow, I apologize, I didn’t know you disliked participating in games. I’ll make note of that next time.” Eleanor Davis bent at the waist to apologize, then self-punished by drinking a whole glass.

Charlotte was already a bit tipsy, her hazy eyes watching the beautiful female host, who was quite tall.

Seeming taller than herself, over 170 cm, and wearing heels of at least eleven centimeters, when she bent over to apologize to Atlas, her bust almost spilled out of her strapless dress.

Charlotte, irritated, drank another glass. So what if she had a bust?

It wasn’t like she didn’t, she just wore more layers. Next time she would wear something plunging down to her navel, and they could see whose bust was more beautiful.

At this point, she was thoroughly drunk, her whole body seemingly soft and boneless as if she had lost her bones.

Atlas looked at her flushed little face, his eyes filled with such tenderness as if all the starlight in the heavens had spilled onto her alone: ”I’ll take you home...”

”I’d rather not, lousy man...” Charlotte murmured softly, her voice so faint that only Atlas could hear.

Lousy man?

That sounded much more endearing than ”President Hallow”. How much does she dislike him, to be complaining even when drunk?

”Compared to you, I probably really am lousy.” Her fragrance was rich and intoxicating, and just as Atlas was about to take Charlotte away, Annie Gray had already approached.

”President Hallow, let me take President Miller home instead. You’ve had a drink today, driving would be inconvenient.” Annie observed the situation was not right. Though Charlotte hadn’t detailed everything about her and Atlas, she knew a bit.

Charlotte had said this man was very dangerous, touch it and you’ll get hurt.

And letting a drunk woman leave with a man was always inappropriate.

”She’s living in my apartment, so who do you think should take her?” Atlas spoke with a playful tone, his eyes flickering with a mocking light as he glanced over Annie’s face: ”Or should I have Joseph Shaw come to pick you up?”
