Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

Yu Tianfeng quietly reminded her, ”Aren’t we supposed to go check out Tianrun Supermarket next?”

Xie Ning glanced at her personal Space. It was only half full, with plenty of room to spare. A smile touched her lips.

She had taken many items like furniture, light fixtures, and mattresses, box and all, stacking them high so as not to waste too much space.

But now, she needed to rest for a moment. After all, she had consumed too much Space Ability Energy.

Xie Ning took out a bottle of Energy Water and, under Yu Tianfeng’s intent gaze, took two large gulps. ”It’s so hot! This water has been in my bag for so long that the sun’s already heated it up. It’s not cold at all.”

It was indeed warm. In weather that was fifty or sixty degrees Celsius, you could cook an egg on the ground, let alone warm up a bottle of water.

Xie Ning drank half the bottle, and her Space Ability Energy instantly recovered by twenty percent.

After another two gulps, it had no further effect.

It was clear this water could only provide a quick, short-term replenishment of one-fifth of one’s Abnormal Energy.

But that was already excellent.

An Energy Supplement Potion only restored ten percent, and its recovery speed was far inferior to her Energy Water.

Xie Ning stuffed the bottle back into her backpack. ”Let’s go. To the supermarket.”

’I wonder what happened to Li Dawei and the other two. It’s like they’re a kite with a broken string—completely cut off.’

”Do you want to rest a bit more?” Yu Tianfeng asked worriedly.

”I’m fine. I’ll have mostly recovered by the time we run over there.” Xie Ning led the two of them at a full sprint.

Tianrun Supermarket was located in the east wing of Hengyue Shopping Center and had the largest floor area.

To get from the shops in the west wing to the east wing would take at least a ten-minute run. For her, the run itself was a form of recovery.

Xie Ning could feel her Space Ability Energy slowly recovering on its own. After drinking the superpower water, the recovery speed was much faster than usual.

Three figures quickly crossed the shopping center’s plaza, heading straight for Tianrun Supermarket in the east wing.

Just as they got within a few hundred meters of the supermarket, they saw a large circle of people gathered by the lawn, congregating at the supermarket entrance.

Bursts of harsh laughter erupted from the crowd, followed by taunts in terribly awkward Mandarin. ”Is this all you people from Country C have got? You’re giving up already?”

”Zhou Tong!” Xiao Qi Zi shouted anxiously, rushing forward to drag back a teammate covered in flames and frantically pouring water on him.

Many members of the Superpower Team glared at the few arrogantly laughing foreigners, their eyes filled with a shared, indignant rage.

”Let me handle—”

”Captain Zuo, I don’t think that would be appropriate,” said the brawny foreigner, crossing his arms with a loud laugh. ”Look, the one I sent out is a member of our Fox Hunting Squad. You’re a captain. You want to fight one of our grunts? Tsk, tsk. Not a good look.”

The Fire Element foreigner who had injured Zhou Tong crossed his arms with a contemptuous sneer. ”I’m Rob, and I never fight women. A woman isn’t even worthy of being my opponent!”

”And what if I insist on challenging you?” a cold voice cut through the parting crowd.

The survivors, who had been crowded together to watch the spectacle, inexplicably felt themselves being gently pushed apart by a soft force, involuntarily clearing a path.

Xie Ning strode slowly into the open space. The air around her was unnaturally still. Her light, cool gaze landed on the foreign men, who towered over her by a head.

”Captain, leave this one to me.”

Zuo Li stared at her blankly, then subconsciously nodded. ”Uh, oh.”

”Let’s let everyone wait and see if a woman can be your opponent.” As Xie Ning spoke the cold words, several Metal Spikes suddenly erupted from her hand, flying toward her opponent with vicious speed and precision.

”Holy crap! A Gold Ability User!” the foreign captain exclaimed. ”Rob! Use your fire—”

Without waiting for the foreign captain to finish, the foreigner named Rob had already ignited raging flames, cloaking himself in a layer of fire.

Then he let out a wild laugh. ”Stupid woman, my Fire Element is the perfect counter to your Gold Element. Watch closely how your metal gradually melts under my blazing flames! HAHAHAHA! Scream, woman!”

Rob waved his hand, and walls of fire suddenly erupted from the ground, circling and closing in on Xie Ning.

”A pity that your assumptions are just that—assumptions. A frog at the bottom of a well, ignorant of the vast world. A mayfly trying to shake a great tree—what a futile fantasy!” Xie Ning sneered, her lips curling. Before the stunned crowd, a pair of Gold Wings suddenly unfurled from her back.

They unfurled with a metallic *SHING*, each wing stretching over a meter long.

”She’s flying!”

Everyone looked up in shock, only to see the young woman shoot into the air, leaping over the four walls of fire with terrifying speed and diving straight towards Rob.

Behind the crowd, a scrawny young man with a messy mop of hair excitedly pointed something at Xie Ning and Rob, filming nonstop.

The surface of his bracelet flickered with a floating light, pulsing continuously.

If Xie Ning were closer, she would have realized that this person’s bracelet was extremely similar to the Satellite Bracelet that Xiao Gu had given her.

At this moment, the surface of the bracelet was displaying a live stream, with a string of ”Holy sh*t” scrolling across the public chat...

”Who’s that?”

”What a beast!”

”What rank Gold Ability is that?”

”Holy hell, they must be a T0 Rank Superpower User, right?”

”What’s T0?”

”Think Captain Gu and Captain Lu! That’s what T0 is.”

”Are there any Fourth-rank Gold Ability Users in the world right now?”

”Country C has a Fourth-rank Gold Ability User now??”

A string of ”I kneel before the master” scrolled across the public chat again.

The live stream clearly showed a close-up of Rob’s ugly, contorted face, accompanied by his pained howls.

After consecutively releasing several fire walls, Rob had long since exhausted all his superpower energy.

However, the fire hadn’t even singed a single hair on Xie Ning’s head. So now...

Xie Ning dove down, coated her arm in a layer of metal, and with a few punches, beat the man until he spat blood and collapsed, his body curling into a ball.

”What are you doing? Stop!” The foreign captain was frantic.

He started to rush forward, but at a look from Zuo Li, several Superpower Team members intercepted him.

”So, is a woman worthy of being your opponent?” Xie Ning’s punch knocked two of Rob’s teeth out. Her gaze fell on his blood-smeared face, completely unmoved.

Rob was beaten half to death, howling and babbling a string of incoherent sounds. ”Yes, yes, she is! Don’t, don’t hit me anymore!”

Xie Ning slowly stood up, her gaze falling on him with extreme indifference. ”Are you... begging me?”

”Yes, yes! I’m, I’m begging you! Begging you!”

Xie Ning slowly retracted her Metal Wings. Suddenly, Little Spider’s electronic voice echoed deep in her mind: *Unidentified satellite electronic device detected near host. Image transmission in progress. Duration: five minutes, five minutes and one second.*

*Unidentified object detected. Ten o’clock, rear.*

*Transmission duration: five minutes, twenty-three seconds.*

Xie Ning narrowed her eyes, which flashed like cold lightning. She suddenly spun her head around, her frigid gaze shooting backward.

The person who was excitedly sending a voice report about discovering a Fourth-rank Strong Attack Ability User suddenly felt a chill on the back of his neck.

He looked up to see a black shadow flying rapidly toward him.
