Lu Ye was full of self-blame. He shouldn’t have taken Lan Qiyue with him just because he found it troublesome to send her back to the Cave Mansion first. More importantly, he shouldn’t have left her there on her own.

He didn’t expect that a Blood Race member would happen to arrive in such a short time. Lan Qiyue had suffered miserably because of the Blood Race. She had nowhere to hide in that situation, so she could only jump into the Blood River to look for Lu Ye.

She probably had no idea how horrifying the Blood River was since she was inexperienced. As she had seen Lu Ye jumping into the Blood River, she decided to do the same. If she knew how terrifying the Blood River was, she would’ve waited for Lu Ye to show up and save her. That way, she would’ve stayed alive at the very least.

Lu Ye blamed himself that Lan Qiyue died, and he also felt crestfallen that Zhang Julai was gone for good.

Since he had left behind the Soul Control Glyph in Zhang Julai’s mind, he could detect his presence. However, when he was searching for Lan Qiyue in the Blood River earlier, he could feel that the connection between Zhang Julai and him had disappeared.

This showed that Zhang Julai couldn’t endure the Blood River’s refinement on his bloodline, so he lost his life somewhere in the river.

Lu Ye had already expected the outcome as hardly any Blood Race members could come out alive once they stepped into the Blood River. Nothing was special about Zhang Julai when he was compared with other Blood Race members, so it wasn’t likely that he would survive.

However, since Lan Qiyue had accidentally lost her life, Lu Ye felt frustrated over Zhang Julai’s death as well, though he had expected the outcome.

The three of them were there when they arrived, but he was alone when he left.

The Blood Race member he had killed was lying on the ground. The headless corpse had no more blood left.

Lu Ye stepped forward and took out his Blood Crystal before destroying the blood foetus with his saber. Then, he shot into the sky and flew forward in a particular direction.

…

There were violent undercurrents in the depths of the Blood River. Lan Qiyue was swept away by the undercurrents, feeling that her vitality was rapidly leaving her body. That was caused by the erosive power of the Blood River.

Lu Ye could activate his Spiritual Power to block out the erosive power, but how was Lan Qiyue able to do that? Her skin started festering due to the erosive power.

She couldn’t find Lu Ye, and with her cultivation in the Spirit Creek Realm, there was no way she could leave the Blood River. As she was swept away by the undercurrents, she had no idea where she was.

Although her life was about to end, she wasn’t afraid. She was an ordinary Human who was the plaything and blood meal of the Blood Race. When she was giving birth to a blood foetus, she thought she would surely die. Much to her surprise, she survived thanks to Lu Ye.

During this period, she had killed several foetuses. She had done enough, so she had no regrets even if she was about to die just like this.

She was about to lose consciousness when a golden light expanded before her eyes. In the depths of the Blood River, the golden light was dazzling amid the scarlet blood.

She had no idea what the golden light was as she could no longer think straight. Still, she instinctively extended her hand and grabbed the golden light. Feeling as though her hand was burned by a piece of flaming iron, she quickly released it, but the golden light entered her body as it moved up along her arm and stopped in her chest.

The next moment, she opened her mouth wide, looking like she was screaming. However, since her mouth was filled with blood, no sound was let out.

The golden light in her chest became brighter, making her entire figure radiate a golden glow.

…

In Blood Refinement Boundary, the Blood Race had countless dwellings of different sizes. Cave Mansions were undoubtedly the smallest. They included Bright Moon Cave Mansion and Hundred Leap Cave Mansion.

In such dwellings, Cloud River Realm Masters were usually in charge. Each Cave Mansion ruled over a territory within a radius of 100 kilometres around it.

The more powerful organisations above the Cave Mansions were the Paradises. In comparison, a Paradise ruled over a larger area that was at least within a radius of 1,000 kilometres around it. The largest Paradises had territories within a radius of 3,000 to 5,000 kilometres around them.

In any territory, all the Humans were the property of the Paradise. They could do whatever they wanted to the Humans.

The scale wasn’t the only difference between Cave Mansions and Paradises. The latter also had more Blood Race members and stronger cultivators.

Bright Moon Cave Mansion was named as such because the strongest cultivators were only Cloud River Realm Masters. If Sun Miaozhu were a Real Lake Realm Master, the place would’ve been named Bright Moon Paradise.

As such, there must be Real Lake Realm Masters in any Paradise where the Blood Race members gathered.

Even more powerful dwellings were the Cave Heavens where Divine Ocean Realm Masters were in charge. Each Cave Heaven ruled over a territory that was at least within a radius of 10,000 kilometres around it.

In comparison, Cave Mansions, Paradises, and Cave Heavens were like the Sects in Jiu Zhou. However, since the Blood Race members didn’t have to teach the Juniors anything, there wasn’t much friendship between them.

To the Blood Race members, Blood Crystals of the same Race were the cultivation resources they longed for. This caused the unique chaotic order in Blood Refinement Boundary.

Thousand Streams Paradise was located on Thousand Streams Mountain, which was 1,000 kilometres away from Bright Moon Cave Mansion. On paper, Bright Moon Cave Mansion was managed by Thousand Streams Paradise.

In fact, the Cave Mansions conquered by those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion in the past month were ruled by Thousand Streams Paradise as well.

In Blood Refinement Boundary, the territory managed by Thousand Streams Paradise couldn’t be considered vast because the Paradise Master, Yu Lingfeng, wasn’t powerful; he was only a Seventh-Order Real Lake Realm Master. Although he had several Real Lake Realm Masters working for him, they were weaker than he was.

There was a cluster of buildings on Thousand Streams Mountain where the Paradise was located. The World Spiritual Qi there was ample. The environment was undoubtedly much better than Bright Moon Cave Mansion, which was a cave.

Such a place could accommodate several hundred people. If it was expanded, it could even let more than 1,000 people stay there.

Presently, over ten Blood Race members in the Real Lake Realm were seated on both sides in the Council Hall of Thousand Streams Paradise. Yu Lingfeng was seated at the head while having a discussion with the other Real Lake Realm Masters. They were talking about what those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion had been doing as of late.

“Paradise Master, those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion have crossed the line recently. From what we’ve gathered, they’ve conquered the neighbouring Cave Mansions in the past month. Most clansmen were killed right there and then. Only some survived. Now, around 50 clansmen have gathered in Bright Moon Cave Mansion, and they’re all in the Seventh-Order Cloud River Realm and above.”

Although the internal strife within the Blood Race was frequent, what those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion had done was unprecedented. After all, there wasn’t a huge gap in collective power between the Cave Mansions. If war was waged, there was no guarantee which side would win. One Cave Mansion might win one to two times, but it wouldn’t keep on winning forever.

However, from what they had gathered, those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion had conquered several Cave Mansions like a hot knife through butter. Not only did they destroy those Cave Mansions, but they also strengthened their collective power.

Under normal circumstances, those in authority wouldn’t interfere in the battles between their subordinates. As long as the Blood River was still around, there would always be new Blood Race members. As such, it wouldn’t matter that some people lost their lives. Moreover, the Blood Crystals of the dead would serve as the nutrients for the living.

However, those from Thousand Streams Paradise had to be concerned since Bright Moon Cave Mansion had been strengthening its power.

Presently, Bright Moon Cave Mansion still wasn’t powerful enough to take on Thousand Streams Paradise, but if this went on, they might even try to conquer the latter. Such an incident wasn’t unprecedented in Blood Refinement Boundary. In fact, it happened pretty frequently.

Moreover, with so many Cave Mansions destroyed, it would affect the tributes offered to Thousand Streams Paradise.

In Blood Refinement Boundary, those from the Cave Mansions had to capture some blood meals and present them to the ruling Paradise every three months to be enjoyed by the clansmen in the Paradise.

With fewer Cave Mansions, there would be fewer blood meals as well. Therefore, the interests of the Paradise would be harmed.

“How is Bright Moon Cave Mansion able to achieve that when they’re so weak? I remember that the Cave Master Sun Miaozhu is only a Cloud River Realm Master. Has she ascended to the Real Lake Realm?” Yu Lingfeng appeared displeased.

“Paradise Master, Sun Miaozhu is dead. Bright Moon Cave Mansion is now ruled by Zhang Julai. Those from Bright Moon Cave Mansion have been acting strangely ever since he seized power.”

“Zhang Julai?” Yu Lingfeng couldn’t recall hearing the name before. He managed a lot of Cave Mansions, so he only remembered those Cave Masters. Naturally, he didn’t know Zhang Julai at all.

“He isn’t a Real Lake Realm Master either. It’s said that he has taken on two powerful Blood Slaves. That’s why he’s been conquering other Cave Mansions.”

Although the transmission of news in Blood Refinement Boundary wasn’t as quick and convenient as in Jiu Zhou, they had items similar to transmission stones. Therefore, it wasn’t difficult for them to spread the news. One month was neither long nor short. Bright Moon Cave Mansion had been invading other Cave Mansions with intensity, so it was only natural that other Blood Race members became aware of it.

“Are there such powerful Blood Slaves?” Yu Lingfeng was puzzled.

“Paradise Master, it’s not the right time to be concerned about the Blood Slaves. Please make a decision as to how to deal with Bright Moon Cave Mansion.”

After giving it some thought, Yu Lingfeng called out, “Wan Fang.”

A Real Lake Realm Master stepped forward and pressed his hand against his chest. “Yes.”

“Go to Bright Moon Cave Mansion and tell Zhang Julai to immediately stop what he’s doing. Also, tell him to offer the latest batch of blood meals as tributes. Don’t forget about the blood meals from the Cave Mansions he’s destroyed as well.”

“What if he doesn’t obey your order?” Wan Fang asked.

“Kill him and replace him with a Cave Master who will obey orders.” An icy glint flashed across Yu Lingfeng’s eyes.

“Yes.” Wan Fang turned around and left the hall.

After they were done discussing this matter, these Real Lake Realm Masters went on to talk about other things. They returned to their places when the meeting was over.

With his hands behind his back, Yu Lingfeng walked towards his bedroom while thinking he should meet the two Blood Slaves working for Zhang Julai if there was a chance. He might take them on as his Blood Slaves.

Although he was the Paradise Master of Thousand Streams Paradise, he had been anxious as of late. Blood Race members had no respect for Seniors as power was everything. As a Seventh-Order Real Lake Realm Master, he could hold onto the position of the Paradise Master for now. Nevertheless, one of the Real Lake Realm Masters working for him was about to become as powerful as he was.

By then, he either had to kick the Real Lake Realm Master out and let him establish another Paradise or share his power with him.

He wasn’t willing to see either outcome. It would also be inappropriate for him to kill the Blood Race member to solve his predicament. Although killing the Blood Race member would allow him to acquire a high-quality Blood Crystal, it would also weaken the heritage of Thousand Streams Paradise. If other Paradises came to attack them, he would have one less powerful subordinate to help fend off the enemies.
