Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1054: Racial Change Ability

Asher sat within his living room like a defeated man. He had been looking forward to finding out what the next rank was, and maybe going to Malrik, where they would discuss it. After all, that guy seemed to be hiding something.

[Ding]

[The Host is worrying too much about something that doesn’t do anything for him at the moment. Even if the Host finds out the next rank is the Ex Life Rank or something of the sort, how does the information help the Host?]

[The system advises the Host to just stop looking for things that don’t exactly help him at the moment. There are better things to do, for example, finding out about the Erase Era and the First True War]

The system chimed.

Asher couldn’t help but smile at the system’s advice. Of course, he already knew all this. He knew that finding out about the next rank wouldn’t help him in any way; he had merely been too curious for his own good.

As for the First True War and the Erase Era, of course Asher hadn’t just shoved it aside after Cindralis had dropped such deep and ancient lore. After that day, he had visited the Wargrave Library again and flipped through every history book he could find. There were many mentions of wars in the past. Wars between Empires had happened numerous times, each having various names according to the time period in which they happened.

But there was nothing about the First True War and the Erased Era within any of the books. He had been tempted to ask Great Elder Morthern if the man knew anything or had heard about it, but after a thought, he decided to give up on asking.

Although the system didn’t know, Asher planned to confront Cindralis for that information. Cindralis had promised three rewards: a one-time-use artefact that could take anyone anywhere in the world as long as they had been there before, two million Academy Points, and a one-year free pass at the Training Facility Building.

Asher planned to trade the last two rewards, the points and the training period, for the information. As he was graduating, such things were of no use to him anymore. And during the course of the past three days with Ryaen and his friends, he had asked Zarek if the Wargrave family possessed the sophisticated training facilities that the Star Academy possessed.

And he had received a positive answer. The Wargrave family indeed possessed it, and Zarek’s words at the time were that it was literally impossible for only Cindralis to possess it. If only she did, people would fight her to the death for the blueprint and schematics.

After all, even Crownstar Life Rankers could get stronger from it. And Zarek had told him that all Wargraves who graduated from the Star Academy began their training there.

Hence, he no longer needed the one-year free pass. It would have been useful if he was still going to be a student at the Star Academy.

As for why Asher believed that Cindralis would possess such information, she was the oldest human around the world. She was in a position to possess unknown knowledge that many didn’t know, unless she spent all her time cooped up within the Separate Dimension, and even if she did, as a Crownstar Life Ranker, information was still supposed to reach her by default, right?

He sighed as he hoped this nine-thousand-year-old woman possessed the information he wanted. But Asher wasn’t naive enough to believe that Cindralis would just hand over the information simply because he was trading his two rewards. To her, it would be redundant, as the rewards were of no use to Asher since he was already graduating, so he truly lost nothing, and finally, she gained nothing for giving out such information.

So, Asher had already anticipated that Cindralis would want to trade information for information. For example, information on his Star Energy, as she wouldn’t exactly know what it was and would need a definite answer. After all, there was a difference between speculation and a factual statement and answer.

If she wanted to know about it, Asher would tell her. Since he had used it at the Inter-Empire Tournament, he had no intention of hiding it anymore. He just wouldn’t tell anyone about the Star Core Fragment and would simply tell anyone who asked that the Star was his true affinity from the very beginning.

’All these thoughts of mine mean nothing if Cindralis doesn’t know or doesn’t want to say anything,’ Asher mused to himself.

As for the Star Academy Library, Asher didn’t even bother going there. There was no way such information would be there, waiting for students to come across it.

But there was one possibility Asher hadn’t considered... FatelessPen.

FatelessPen’s ability revolved around drawing something that had already existed into reality. Now, if the secrets of the First True War and the Erase Era had ever been put down in ink and on paper, even if it was by mistake and later destroyed, all FatelessPen needed to do was draw the book into existence, even if he didn’t know its true contents.

Well... even if Asher considered this method, if the secrets were never recorded, then it wouldn’t work.

Asher shook his head and decided to stop thinking about the situation.

’Look at you, system, trying to cheer me up. Who knew you had a motivational speech function?’ Asher mused as he spoke to the system.

[The system doesn’t have a motivational speech function. The system has simply grown fond of the Host even though the system doesn’t have any emotions. The system just doesn’t want the Host to die and have to find another Host]

The system chimed in reply.

Asher smiled. For some reason, he felt happy at the system’s words, even though the system said it had no emotions.

’How about one reward, and I will think about it? Besides, I won the Inter-Empire Tournament, don’t I at least deserve something?’ he asked, his greed rising to the surface.

[After the Host has asked several times despite being rejected each time, the system is seriously tempted to give in and give the Host something for such persistence and hard work]

The system replied.

Asher sat stunned as he couldn’t help but wonder if the system had finally given in to his pestering.

[How about a unique ability called Racial Change? The Host would permanently change into a Sinvaira, specifically one of the Sinvairas of Greed]

The system chimed sarcastically.

Asher sat silently where he was, then sighed. ’What was I even expecting from this shameless system?’ he mused to himself and the system.

But the system didn’t care. It pressed on as though pitching the ability to him, trying to convince him to accept the unique ability.

[Don’t be in a rush to reject the ability, Host. Think about it. This way, you can infiltrate the core of the Sinvaira operation, extract information, and send it back to your family members. Your Father can even avenge his Father this way. This is a good deal, Host. Just a small price to pay for the sake of the world]

Asher’s lips twitched at the system’s words. Even if he accepted, he would be killed by Azaron and Malrik the moment he made contact to exchange information. They would never believe it was him, no matter how much proof he gave.

The system was simply setting him up to die.
