Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Witch Aiko spotted that birdie looking at them, but her expression was changing every second.

’Hm...’ Witch Aiko paused, one of her eyes glancing backwards, very discreetly. ’This is no good.’

She followed the birdie to converse with her, only to figure out what was happening.

Fortunately, this cute birdie was lucky.

[The individual ’Ancestral Beast of the Fire Crow Clan’ is eligible. Her Soul is damaged, and her Cultivation is shaky. Her lifespan is almost depleted. She is the perfect target for the Contract.]

[Please keep in mind that a complete reset will extend her life, but it will take a lot of time for her body to cope with the overflowing Vitality.]

’Taking care of her, those two owls should be fine with it, right?’ Witch Aiko would not tolerate infighting between her companions. Any grievances will be resolved by words or fists.

”But you are special. I can make a Contract with you~” Witch Aiko hummed, looking forward to her growth.

The Fire Bird Queen snorted softly. It was something absurd to say, but Witch Aiko said it so easily.

’Well, the Vitality will be an issue, but she can come with me.’ Witch Aiko nodded her head. ’I planned to get her later, but since she already broke up with him, there is nothing that is holding her back, no?’

”Or do you want to do it later?” Witch Aiko tilted her head.

”D-do what?” The Fire Bird Queen was momentarily flustered.

”The Contract?” Witch Aiko smiled, it was a bit fun to mislead others.

”Ah, I’m not sure...” The Fire Bird Queen pondered. ”It’s better to move all the materials over first and then do the Contract, I don’t think they will fulfil their side of the bargain if I suddenly disappear.”

”That’s true.” Witch Aiko nodded her head. If it was up to her, she would always fulfil all deals that she made, but that was not the same for everyone.

Greedy fuckers were everywhere, and it was especially bad the more powerful they got. Why? Because they not only were greedy fuckers, but also shameless fuckers.

”How long will it take?” Witch Aiko felt like keeping her away from her group at this point might be detrimental to her health, so she wanted to finish this as soon as possible.

”I think it’s around 7 days. It takes a while to move everything since there is a limit to the Storage Rings we can use and the other Elders do not help in any other way.” The Fire Bird Queen clicked her tongue.

”We are still using the Movement Array, right?” Witch Aiko raised her eyebrow.

”We can’t use it in tandem with so many Storage Rings, otherwise you might get transported somewhere else.” The Fire Bird Queen shook her head.

”There was such a thing?” Witch Aiko suddenly had a devilish idea. ”How many do you need for ’that’ to happen?”

”Hm?” The Fire Bird Queen tilted her head. ”It depends on the distance and how powerful the individual is, then it calculates how much it needs to distort the space to move you into the predetermined location.”

”Oh...” Witch Aiko felt a bit disappointed. She really wanted to make a trap for those that flaunted their wealth, but it seemed like making it automatic was impossible. ”Too bad.”

The Fire Bird Queen felt like Aiko was planning something dangerous, so she was very relieved Aiko gave up so quickly.

”Should I help to speed up the process?” Witch Aiko suggested, but the Fire Bird Queen shook her head.

”The Elders would throw tantrums. I wish I could cut their heads, but I also don’t want my former Clan to disappear immediately.” She sighed softly.

”Do you wish to visit it again in the future?” Witch Aiko found that amusing, but she very much supported that kind of idea.

”En. I would like to see how much they will destroy it while I’m away.” The Fire Bird Queen chuckled. It was a mistake to create a Clan around Elders, but it was a learning experience. She would create another Clan in the future, but she still needs to see what happens when everything is finished.

”That’s quite bleak.” Witch Aiko soaked her legs in the water.

”Is it?” The Fire Bird Queen was probably desensitised from everything suddenly happening.

The broken Contract. Her partner threw a tantrum. Her daughter was making a mess. Elders sabotaging everything...

”Can I ask for rest before you assign something to me, please?” The Fire Bird Queen suddenly asked. She seemed... tired, maybe even exhausted.

”Well, you will have to deal with certain things anyway. So you will have to rest even if you don’t want to.” Witch Aiko chuckled, feeling relieved that this birdie would follow her.

”How are those guys?” The Fire Bird Queen was asking about the Owl Clan.

”They are doing fine. They will also be taking care of you.” Witch Aiko nodded her head.

”Ah? How is that possible?” The Fire Bird Queen didn’t have a bad relationship with them, but she also didn’t believe that they would be willing to do something like that.

”Why not?” Witch Aiko titled her head. She left the cuties with her companions, so she couldn’t pull them out, but that should be fine. They were very understanding.

”They are cute twins, so you will like them too.” Witch Aiko smiled.

”... They are twins?” The Fire Bird Queen was surprised. She wanted to say what happens to twins, but she couldn’t bring herself in front of Aiko.

”Yeah, you should’ve seen how concerned they were. Hehe~” Witch Aiko giggled.

”I got such a great deal~” Smiling gently, she leaned back.

”Deal?” The Fire Bird Queen was sure that Aiko was taking it really lightly.

”Yeah, my Providence didn’t even dip. What bad luck they can bring.” Witch Aiko clicked her tongue.

”...” The Fire Bird Queen had some many questions, but it was probably safer not to ask anything.

’I really want to know what she knows about Providence or luck, or how can she know it didn’t affect her...?’ The Fire Bird Queen was curious. Was this Fox always calculating, or did she just go with the flow.

”I mean, would you believe it? The Mortal World is oppressing me!” Witch Aiko complained to her new friend.

*Pfffft*

The Fire Bird Queen almost choked on her own saliva.

She heard about a few individuals that were so powerful that they were suppressed by the Mortal World, so that they couldn’t destroy it, but...

’They are at the very peak of the Mortal World, so that’s only natural. Yet this...’ The same oppressive feeling that those guys had, did not come from this Fox.

Sure, her tails were abnormal, chilling even, but her normal body exuded the sweet fragrance of a blooming flower. Far from that oppressive, nasty bloodthirsty feeling...

”...” The Fire Bird Queen decided to give up thinking about it, just going with the flow...

...

Witch Aiko complained for a while to her, before standing up.

”It’s time for me to return for a bit.” The Fire Bird Queen decided to make a small mess of things and bring more Treasures over.

Since this Foxy liked metals, she would just bring her personal collection.

’I was able to build this Clan from nothing and I taught my daughter everything. So even if she doesn’t have my metals, she will be fine.’ The Fire Bird Queen didn’t care about that part. Her daughter had the best education, position, pretty much everything. It was now up to her to use that knowledge and bring glory for herself.

”Are you already leaving?” Witch Aiko wanted to drag her around and show her a few things, but that didn’t seem possible at this point.

”I should. There are things I need to finish.” The Fire Bird Queen chuckled. She seemed to be in a much better mood now.

”Don’t forget about the Contract.” Witch Aiko giggled before running away.

”Gosh...” The Fire Bird Queen felt too old to be able to compete with someone so young, but that was not necessarily a bad thing.

’Being young is good.’ Even if she had a few years left, she would do her best to follow this Foxy.

’Maybe I should eat a few more fruits before leaving.’ The Fire Bird Queen thought about it and decided to extend her life one last time.

...

”Sure.” Her butler was more than cooperative, so much so that she was confused.

”I will have to leave soon, so this is the least I can do for you.” He didn’t want to stay in here, or rather, he felt like she didn’t want him to stay around him.

The shadow appeared once again. It was usually hidden from plain sight, but this time it was bold.

”My Prince, I believe you should teach the Fox a-”

*Splat*

But that boldness was also his demise.

”Goodness me, there are still brats that don’t know their place.”

Everyone inside the room shuddered. They knew that voice. It was from the powerful individual presiding over the ’lake’.

”Elder.” The Fire Bird Queen was the first one to bow.

”Now, now.” The Elder chuckled, lifting her body effortlessly. ”You have decided to follow our Princess, so please be understanding if she makes mistakes.”

”I’m an old soul, looking after the youngsters is only natural.” The Fire Bird Queen immediately accepted that duty without a second thought.

The Elder laughed. ”We will meet again in the future. I’m looking forward to meeting you at that time.”

The Fire Bird Queen was momentarily confused about his words, but she still thanked him. ”Thank you, kind Elder.”

”Elder.” Her butler bowed towards him.

”Save it. Go chase some skirts or something.” The Elder rolled his eyes.

”It’s not like that Elder.” Her butler shook his head.

”You are betrothed to 3 Saintessess, the last time I looked. Are you saying that changed?” The Elder rolled his eyes.

”That’s-” Her butler didn’t say anything since that was the truth.

”3 of them?” The Fire Bird Queen’s lips twitched.

”...” The butler didn’t say anything, since he didn’t know how to comment about this situation.

”Anyway. Any other idiot who wants to die?” The Elder placed down the teacup. His shadowy figure is still not being revealed.

”Nobody? That was surprisingly quick, considering that our kind is ’sealed’.” The Elder openly mocked them, but even then, nobody took the bait.

”Gosh, you are so boring.” The Elder clicked his tongue. ”I enjoyed the tea, thank you.”

”The pleasure is mine, Elder.” The Fire Bird Queen smiled faintly.

The Elder disappeared and both of them plopped down weakly.

”Hm?” Witch Aiko turned around. It felt like someone close to her was visiting, but that must’ve been her imagination. ’My family is right in front of me.’ She nodded her head while walking outside. It was time to talk with them and have some fun~!
