Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1928: Chapter 1923: Cabin Upgrade Plan

The legends are true, upgrading to a higher class indeed offers a better experience.

Unsurprisingly, neither Fu Qian’s nor Su Gao’s volunteering were stopped, and Lord Stos did not insist on coming along like last time.

On one hand, there was no definite target, just an attempt to find some breakthrough points.

On the other hand, with the last experience, leaving both Aike and Ah Kai here was obviously not a prudent decision.

In the end, Old Master Stoss chose to stay behind and oversee, watching as the impressively performing duo quickly disappeared at the passage, entering the upper deck of the ship once more.

Fu Qian’s previous judgment was once again confirmed immediately.

Standing at this higher place, one could still ”see” the giant spire outside clearly, but the figures of Old Master Stoss and the other two could no longer be seen, including the specific scene of the lower deck.

It wasn’t that this ship had become transparent; rather, some information was being transmitted as a visual illusion.

Still, it made the overall view feel clearer at least.

Fu Qian, always adept at finding highlights, leisurely stayed by Demigod Su’s side, enjoying the middle deck’s view.

Moreover, the action of Brother Mar feeding himself to the ship remarkably wasn’t just superficial; even the damaged traces on this unseen second deck had been repaired.

Additionally, the feathers left by the Prison Angel Commander had long been burned to ashes by Old Master Stoss, making this deck seem much tidier for a time.

Unfortunately, that was all it was.

As Old Master Stoss said, this ship and its passengers appeared merely to be spectators witnessing history.

No matter how grand or grotesque the outside was, it did not affect this transcendent presence at all.

”It seems apart from the mental impact we suffered, there indeed isn’t any other effect.”

With quick steps and sharp vision, Demigod Su also seemed to have reached the same conclusion ultimately.

...

”Yes, otherwise those ancient survivors couldn’t possibly maintain that level of consistency in their forms.”

Compared with Su Gao’s relaxed demeanor, Fu Qian quickly agreed with her viewpoint.

All of them had certain sensitivity as high-level extraordinaries; they could draw conclusions without much examination, this was merely double-checking.

Besides, consistency does not equate to stable consistency; it could also mean consistent distortion.

”As for some of their maritime characteristics, and these seaweed-like fog inside, the source is probably still this ship.”

Next, Fu Qian gestured towards the glowing seaweed scattered around.

”I think so too. Some of the ship’s concepts seem to be infecting them, causing them to undergo changes consistent with this, even though they weren’t actually sailing on the sea.”

As cooperation partners with multiple temporary engagements, their communication could almost be described as direct and efficient.

Although Fu Qian’s explanation was somewhat abstract, Su Gao could still follow the line of thinking, or rather, she had already vaguely guessed it before.

”Not sure if it’s related to the ship’s animation, but it bears some resemblance to the distortion we’re experiencing.”

Very good, regardless of the initial considerations for this arrangement, it was clear that Su Gao displayed entirely deserving qualities.

Facing Su Gao’s inquisitive gaze, Fu Qian silently praised her in his heart.

Leadership isn’t about talking a lot, but about having clarity of thought, decisive advancement, insight into the core; even if this time, Lord Stoss came to overshadow, it could not hide the brilliance she displayed in this investigation.

I believe Old Master Stoss would never deny this.

Of course, most importantly, there’s the discerning eye for talent.

Though it’s just speculation, it’s enough to show that Su Gao never forgot to consider the whole picture of this incident.

And her thoughts were almost aligned with his own.

Wandering with the dormant passengers for a millennium, the ark protected them from external influences, but ultimately couldn’t avoid betraying itself.

Animation, or having a certain existence will, let its inherent characteristics transmit to the passengers over time.

Take the concept of ”ship,” for example, allowing those on board, even the ship itself, to undergo changes that harmonized with it.

And the process of a newly entering person’s vision brightening could be understood as gradually acquiring the ”passenger” identity.

This brings up the fact that his midnight deadline hadn’t been triggered yet, and the brightness change before him was still not noticeable?

Could it be, after the ship set sail, it’s in a true time-space disorder state, so there’s no worry of being forced to work overtime?

If it’s indeed like this, does that mean another place was discovered where one could skip work?

It even seems more benign than the place Senior Liliyana chose.

”I have a similar thought, perhaps this is the cost of everything... shall we go further up and take a look?”

With a sigh, Fu Qian expressed agreement while continuing to propose the plan of upgrading to a higher class.

”Alright.”

The two were already very efficient, and having just come around, they quickly made another loop through this second deck.

Other than a better view, there were no other new discoveries, making Fu Qian’s proposal sound completely fitting.

Though by doing so, due to the ship’s shielding effect, it would become harder to keep an eye on the activities of the others below.

But the next moment, Su Gao, accepting the suggestion, had already unhesitatingly walked ahead again.

...

”The changes here seem even less significant.”

Returning to the ark’s highest level, this was the first time in this exploration.

Yet, surveying the scene before him, Fu Qian quickly reached a conclusion.

Glow, mist, wheat fields... Besides the peculiar feeling caused by the outside scenery, the layout and various forms were quite consistent with the memory of the first visit.

Of course, the advantage of a better view at a higher point remained.

Although insignificant compared to the increasingly proximate spire, the sense of progress was unavoidable.

Furthermore, with the ship’s approach, more details of the tower could now be observed, leading to the conclusion that there wasn’t much detail—because it was just too smooth and orderly.

Such a massive structure, being from the ancient mythic era, it had to have ties with faith, no matter how one thought about it.

But unlike most holy temple sanctuaries, the exterior of this structure was plain, with its fine white stone surface and faint crevices.

For a forced analogy, it somewhat resembled a smoothed-out and elongated pyramid.

”Indeed.”

Scanning the surroundings with her gaze, Su Gao quickly reached the same conclusion.

However, this time, her steps slowed, seemingly agreeing while following Fu Qian in surveying the exterior of the ship, faintly suggesting an attitude of slackening.

But how could Su Gao, of all people, be slackening in her work?

Letting out a light sigh in his heart, Fu Qian walked ahead.

The attitude was clear, signaling that leadership had been passed on and he could do what he wanted now.
