Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1921: Chapter 1916: Total Loss of Control

Professor Ah Kai’s research does seem quite fruitful.

Even Fu Qian, standing a bit further away, could still feel the destructive power carried by the scythe.

It was no weaker than the oppressive feeling this ship had always given.

Even Demigod Aike would probably not be able to produce such effects; the most likely explanation is that Professor Ah Kai triggered some kind of miracle.

But the manifestation of this miracle is clearly somewhat unfriendly at this moment.

In the blink of an eye, the scythe swept through all surroundings with unstoppable momentum.

Amber, pillars, partitions... everything within the radius was severed in half.

This radius kept expanding, as each rotation of the scythe stretched it further.

”Impossible...”

Meanwhile, Professor Ah Kai, having swiftly moved away with Aike, faced Stoss, standing silently beside him, evidently deep in self-doubt, muttering in defense.

”I clearly attempted another miracle which was supposed to have minimal impact on the surroundings. I can’t understand why it’s turned out like this...”

I can believe that.

By the time Fu Qian caught up, observing the still-expanding area of destruction, he found this statement not too doubtful.

The carefree attitude in research was typical of Professor Ah Kai on ordinary occasions, but not in such dangerous situations, especially when acting alongside the Night Watchman.

Moreover, the two seemed unaware of the series of commotions from above.

”Is there a way to stop it?”

Regarding the Academy Professor’s discipline, Lord Stoss did not seem particularly confident. After glancing at Aike for a response and receiving none, he decisively proceeded to confirm the containment measures.

”Hard to say, I can only try little by little—”

Unfortunately, Professor Ah Kai’s answer showed evident lack of confidence, as he frowned at the scene, and suddenly froze.

”How did it get so bright all of a sudden?”

...

So was it just unnoticed initially?

Seeing Aike with a similar expression, Fu Qian naturally reached a conclusion—they too had reached the noon hour.

The pair ahead could conduct research there peacefully, to some extent proving the sudden burst of light hadn’t affected them, but was meant for the three culprits above.

Unfortunately, once the boundaries were breached, they too couldn’t avoid the backlash.

”What is this again?”

Even before Old Master Stoss could explain seriously, Ah Kai exclaimed once more.

From the edge where the scythe swept, a snow-white—feather?—emerged quietly from the crevices between the boards.

Except for the color, the shape was exactly like those above.

But as if buoyed by the air after floating out, the object swayed, reminiscent of a fish in water.

Moreover, it firmly headed towards the scythe, seemingly ”swimming.”

When the scythe brushed past the next moment, it wasn’t shredded but lightly adhered to the scythe.

”There are some above too.”

Aike finally couldn’t resist pointing at a feather drifting down.

And just like the previous one, it turned into a fish-like movement, heading towards the scythe.

Moreover...

No need for her to point it out; others noticed more immediately.

A scene similar to the ropes above appeared. At the scythe’s covered position as the center, regardless of size, all crevices had feather-like fish swimming out, charging into the damage domain like flying fish diving into flames.

Soon the scythe was enveloped so densely that its original hue was obscured, and a swarm of feathers began to dance in the surrounding air, creating a striking visual impact.

Even the physical impact was pronounced.

As Fu Qian felt the ship’s chaotic waves, he turned, seeing a face almost dripping with water.

”The ship seems a bit unstable.”

Clearly, Old Master Stoss felt the tremors accompanying the appearance of feathers, indicating the ship’s increasing instability.

Not merely swaying, but essentially frantic and unstable, like an animal hard to control due to an internal source of destruction.

”Unable to sense a way out.

”Including just above, I could only perceive the barriers down here.”

As Stoss turned to look at Su Gao standing at the back, the latter also shook her head.

...

”Is there a problem?”

The detailed dialogue made Aike, alert, unable to resist asking.

”The situation is somewhat beyond control, we need to leave first.”

As he casually explained, Old Master Stoss clearly already made a decision.

Feeling the increasing tremors of this location, a searing bright spot like the sun reappeared in his palm.

”That thing seems temporarily unresolved.”

However, after continued collaboration, he finally paid attention to an advisor’s opinion.

In Aike’s and others’ surprised gaze, Stoss didn’t hastily throw the thing, instead confirming Fu Qian’s thoughts first.

”Yes.”

Fu Qian nodded.

”Those two guys are likely still watching us.”

”I think so too.”

”Even for me, the light signifying distortion levels approaches what’s described in your reports, and if too affected, recovery may not be possible.”

Exchanging questions and answers, Stoss even candidly admitted his condition was worrying.

”Indeed, it’s about right.”

Fu Qian observed and expressed he felt similarly.

”It seems best to continue with the original plan, to stimulate the ship further, seeking escape opportunities, if necessary, even by destroying this place.

”It’s overly optimistic to assume surviving outside beyond three days; finding someone even takes time.”

After thorough consideration, Old Master Stoss swiftly narrated his analysis and stepped forward, staring at the gradually slowing scythe.

”Perhaps not.”

But on the verge of action, Fu Qian expressed dissent for the first time.

...

”What makes you say... do you think they’ll make it in time?”

Reluctantly pulling back the step, without minding nearly straining his back from the interruption, Stoss looked at Fu Qian with puzzlement.

”No, I just think surviving three days is too optimistic; Chief Yuan might not yet have considered finding someone.”

Shaking his head again, Fu Qian proposed a more pessimistic view.

”I have a special timekeeping technique; external time may not have passed twelve hours yet.”

And his reasoning.
