Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1385: Chapter 1383: Revival in 5 Days (Thanks to the alliance leader Meijian Dianba Nizhusha for the reward)

The lamb finally receives enlightenment, does the Herder retreat into the background?

Faced with the Witch’s explanation, Fu Qian nodded momentarily, feeling a sense of a great work finally coming to fruition, except...

”Isn’t it too lonely this way? It seems you’re not too keen on being worshiped.”

Noticing her knight lost in thought, the Witch continued walking, a curious look on her face.

”At least my personal experience was extremely boring, that’s why I’m letting them imagine for themselves this time.”

The Witch was undoubtedly referring to her previous experiences in the World Within the Painting, although to her only Temple Knight it seemed quite enjoyable back then.

”Of course, if you’re interested, I can always send an Angel Envoy to walk the world.”

Having a leader who can rewrite the rules at will is quite nice.

”Rent...”

However, faced with the Witch’s thoughtful suggestion, Fu Qian shook his head slightly, even as he admired her.

Hmm?

”Seems like I’ve paid for nothing again, that area is very expensive.”

Under the Witch’s gaze, Fu Qian sighed heavily.

”...That’s indeed true.”

And fitting of a Pontiff, the Witch immediately caught on to Fu Qian’s jumpy response.

”This time, your landlord, Mrs. Harper, certainly gained a lot of benefits.”

”Your unrecoverable rent is one thing, but her property probably won’t need tenants anymore.”

”Oh?”

Fu Qian clearly lacked the Pontiff’s foresight, failing to understand why his former landlord suddenly achieved financial freedom.

”With the Stars in turmoil and Doomsday approaching, a group of worshippers of Evil Power emerged and admitted their recent crimes.”

The Witch smiled slightly, her tone almost like a storytelling.

”Enlightened by a great being, they recently murdered and cannibalized a museum staff member... In such a sacrificial act, laws collapse, Doomsday inevitably arrives, and the great being shall rule over all.”

Museum staff member...

So poor Brother Anke wasn’t lost in a nightmare but had already returned to the spirit in the sky?

Listening to the Witch’s tale, Fu Qian sighed in sorrow, recalling the pile of photos carried by Officer Raphaide.

Such cases are hard to say are just isolated incidents.

Indeed, having too many nightmares can mess up one’s mind, causing all sorts of malevolent entities to appear.

...

”So Doomsday didn’t come, huh?”

Fu Qian could already imagine the miserable state of those fellows.

”Initially, they did frighten quite a few people.”

Walking in this world within the painting, the Witch became even more leisurely, narrating smoothly.

”Even the least sensitive people cannot fail to notice the anomalies in the sky and the suddenly unfamiliar constellations.”

”Not to mention the Celestial Sphere Sect representatives also directly collapsed.”

Completely understandable.

Having put their faith in something their whole lives, only to learn it doesn’t exist, the psychological collapse is at least on par with a child finding out Ultraman isn’t real.

Not forming a Doomsday sect under such conditions could already be considered mild.

”In short, amid the chaos, many really joined them, causing Leytin to nearly collapse in a very short time, yet—”

The Witch’s storytelling persona only intensified.

”A twist in the tale often comes unexpectedly; within the Celestial Sphere Sect on the verge of disintegration, someone suddenly understood the truth of the world, claiming that the previous false laws were merely exiled.”

”The truly supreme original power comes solely from the Dark Moon appearing in the sky.”

”At first, not many believed, until she demonstrated that dark, cold power—a rule transcending the Stars, reflecting the essence of the world.”

”This undeniably brought hope amidst Doomsday; many disillusioned people joined her, willing to honor her as a Divine Envoy.”

”Yet, she rejected this title, stating she was merely inspired by the Herder and selflessly shared this wisdom, even with some resistant Sect members.”

Having said all this in one breath, the Witch smiled at Fu Qian.

”And the Herder she referred to was none other than the museum staff member Anke, who was proclaimed murdered not long ago.”

”It’s said he resurrected on the fifth day after being murdered by cultists, becoming the Seventh Apostle blessed by the Dark Moon, and the most beloved Godson.”

... Is this last line something you added yourself?

One could naturally guess the pioneer the Witch referred to was Amila, enlightened many times by him, and the entire unfolding sounded logical enough.

Except this last line certainly gave Fu Qian a dramatic twist.

”In any case, the place where the Seventh Apostle once lived is now regarded as a Sanctuary by many, and Mrs. Harper, who had much contact with him after his rebirth, is also held in high esteem.”

The Witch seemed quite appreciative of Fu Qian’s reaction.

”As for the evildoers who murdered him, on the third day after the Stars fell and the world showed no trace of Doomsday collapse under the Dark Moon’s protection, they had already been tied before the Dark Moon followers by the awakened people.”

...

”Truly a beautiful ending.”

Without overly contemplating the mention of the Godson, Fu Qian silently listened to the Witch’s narrative, nodding micro-millimeter-level assent.

”Even compared to the previous method, this one seems more reasonable, and should also place less pressure on your state.”

The ”previous” Fu Qian referred to, of course, was the outer World Within the Painting.

In that old-constructed Sanctuary, whether one professed the Seven Lights or the Dark Moon, the powers possessed by the Transcendents were essentially siphoned from the source.

Though most would not attain high ranking and cause significant pressure, the Witch’s condition was equally acute.

Compared to that small town, the dens inhabitants of Leytin were of a different magnitude.

Emulating the Stars at this moment, by establishing rules under the Dark Moon within a second-generation World Within the Painting, completely controlled by the Witch with her blood as the foundation, and distributing this power through various ranking authority levels, was undoubtedly appropriate.

”Furthermore, it seems those five apostles do not need me to supplement their names.”

Even though Amila dared not assume the name of Divine Envoy, as a growing faith, with First Apostle Herbert and Seventh Apostle Anke setting a precedent, the content of the Gospel Book would likely be quickly completed.

”Certainly more relaxed and simple.”

The Witch appeared to agree wholeheartedly with Fu Qian’s two judgments.

”Even just now, I received petitions from some special races.”

”They should theoretically be the most stubborn group, but it seems someone had already profoundly enlightened them.”

”You’re welcome.”

The special races undoubtedly referred to the Vampires, with Fu Qian responding courteously while recalling that passionately performed open meeting.

It might have been Brother Jake, or perhaps Lady Bally, one of the more open-minded ones.

”So, do you want to take a look at where you paid the rent?”

The Witch suggested at this moment.

”No need.”

Fu Qian shook his head slightly, a neat and tidy break.

”Museum? Church?”

”No need either.”

Lacking any obsession of revisiting old haunts, Fu Qian, observing Leytin under the night sky, swayed as he slowly stretched his legs to step onto the ground.

”Let’s just wander around, this place is still nice.”
